Persona 5 |OT2| Someone must have been helping you go to bed early. Talk!

There are a few more too, but not quite as graphic as Mara. I can't believe Mishaguji isn't in the game!

I'm hoping SMTHD will give rise to Priapus.

Is Arioch in the game? I think that has the potential to be even more "impressive" than Mara.

I didn't make much use of the system where you can sacrifice persona's to buff an existing one. Is it possible to use this system to give mara the better skills that a Lucifer or a Michael would have?

Technically yes. You can transfer anything that they can inherit via normal fusion, except the skill you gain from the sacrifice is chosen at random.

This is how I've made most of my better personas. I can take time but it gets the job done.

Without going into details, how severe are the consequences for attempting to get a Harem End? Is it just one event on a set day, or does it happen whenever you sleep with someone else? Do you lose all your waifus, or do they just make you pick one?

Theres abdolutely no consecuences,
Theres an extra scene that is really funny at the end of the game so in part I would say Harem is recommended.

I think I'm nearing the end of palace 5. Might be able to do this in one go.

Some enemies allowed me to abuse sp adhesive + baton passing, got my SP refilled halfway through this place.

I should really maintain a list of the questionable things you can tell people, cuz it's just the best:
man, they really have a lot of fun at Ann's expense about stripping for this dude. I damn near lost it when "Strip for him, Ann" came up as a text msg choice.

No that's not how the guillotine system works. You sacrifice another Persona to level one up, and it gains one extra skill that's random. I find it only useful for sacrifice a Persona you don't want to bump the level of one you don't feel like grinding so you can learn the next skill.

If you want to make broken Persona with very specific skills, use Skill Cards.

Ah. Live and learn I suppose. I don't think I have a save file where I could go back and make those skill cards anymore to be ready for a super mara on new game plus. This is a shame, I wanted my Mara to be the envy of all who saw it.

Oh this is a relief to read actually. So the skill is random but with enough patience I can get it to be the one I wanted.

It's not just me right? The anime quality is kind of subpar no? I felt like it got worse the further in the game.

Anyway, game done. 90 hours. I had fun, but I really hope whatever they do next changes up the formula

Jesus Christ, these goddamn Melchizedek are monsters, their god's hand are pretty much insta kills save for when endure kicks for my teammates. I've been about to get a game over in almost every battle here haha,
this is thrilling.

I hung out with Ann the other day and took her to the Planetorium, but didn't get any gift from it. Is it random or is it only specific characters at specific locations?

Yeah the anime is super budget quality. With the success this game had I hope it improves for the next game.

Come on don't fool yourself. Persona anime FMVs for the games are always super budget with one or two impressive ones at the start of the game. The games get more popular, that doesn't change.

It looks bad next to the much more impressive in-game cutscenes. Those awakening scenes...

I might be wrong, but Persona 5's jump in sales seems to be a step above the other games. I think it's a reasonable expectation. If the dungeons can get way more detailed, I think the outsourced anime cutscenes can.

I'm on Palace 2 and man, I really don't remember P3 or P4 getting so in my way about burning through dungeons in one go. I can see why the pacing is a common complaint, something feels off. Really feel like I'm being strung along.

Bonuses that would have made the Devil confidant not a total fucking waste of time (outside of narrative and social stat reasons):

  • Longer stealth jumping distances: Ambush enemies from further away and jump covers at a longer distance.
  • Quick escape: Rushing away from enemies while in pursuit will let you lose them quicker.
  • Ride to school: Occasionally get a ride to school that functions the same as finding a seat on the train. Effectively doubling the amount of free mornings you receive to read. Like a weaker version of the Temperance "slack off" skill.
  • Material merchant: Level 10 could unlock a new merchant that sells a variety of rare materials usually only found in palaces/Mementos (in limited quantities of course) for crafting thieve's tools.
  • Multiple negotiations: Another possible Level 10 unlock could be the ability to (occasionally) negotiate with a second demon in Hold Up (or all-out attack, I suppose) after you finish with the first, instead of ending the battle.
  • Rebuy gifts: This ability would feel pretty useless to me but still, somehow, be way more useful than her current bonuses. You can rebuy certain gifts once instead having to splurge on higher tier ones.
  • Permanently increase the Treasure Demon encounter rate: Speaks for itself. Functions as an automatic Treasure Trap (perhaps slightly less effective).
This is a quick list off the top of my head of some potential bonuses that would break the game no more than some Confidant bonuses already do. I'm not saying any of those ideas are necessarily great (or would even work when implemented) but honestly, every single one of them sounds more appealing than the current bullshit Palace Alert Level reductions.

As for how they'd fit the character thematically, you could handle that in a single line of dialogue.

Anyone else have any fun ideas for how they could have improved Ohya's unlocks?

EDIT:

This is a great idea too, duckroll!
Increasing the Treasure Demon rate is really what comes to mind immediately for me, but you've already got that one. But thinking about it, I thought of a few more:

-Infiltration Tool Boost: Basically works like Proficiency boosts for Infiltration boosts, increasing the amount of tools you can craft in one session. And just have her rank 10 letting you craft as many infiltration tools as you have materials for, regardless of your Proficiency rank (which shouldn't be too much of a problem because you're limited by materials regardless).
-A perk that lets Joker use out-of-battle-only healing items in battle.
-If they really want to stay with the security theme for her, then just giving her passives that further increase the amount of EXP/Gold you get from fighting Shadows when the security level is high. Or if that's too much than just having her function as another check/safeguard that makes Negotiations easier when the security level is high would still be better.

It's the latter. Based on personal experience, Ann only gives you something if you take her to
Harajuku or Shibuya
. To get the gift linked to the Planetarium, go there
with Yusuke
.

I like Hifumi's abilities, being able to swap on some fight where you brought someone that's just gonna be getting their weakness exploited (and thus doubling the enemy turns) is really useful (and can be exploited when you've got a low SP member to swap for a fresh one without a safe room trip).

Def. for combat. For daily activities it is easily the fortune teller and kawakami.

I wonder how well shinya's abilities work with Ann and against bosses.

I will do Tower on my NG+ run. Never touched guns first try.

For me the most useful SLs where Star, Hermit, Fortune, Temperance...this 4 are absolutely broken and will do the game an easier ride for you.

Has anyone had a successful straw doll kill? Or should i just stop wasting my time repeating this battle, bite the bullet, and go back to the last safe room (losing about an hour of progress)?

Missed out. Guns are the shit when used correctly.

A large reason I kept Yusuke in my party.

Any tips for the Futaba lines trophy? I've finished the 7th dungeon, but I think I'm really far from getting this. Been grinding Mementos for a few hours trying to get new lines for my lesser used party members and getting hit by status ailments/debuffs. Anything else I should be doing?

You know that you can change party members without going to a safe room, right?

Use items like Rancid Gravy, Mystery Stew etc. to easily get the lines related to having character stat debuffs.

Maxing out Futaba's Social Link will get you tons of extra lines related to her abilities.

Let enemies ambush you a couple times, both super weak and strong enemies.

Using Rush in battle will get you a few voice lines if you haven't used it before.

And the final bosses altogether will give you about 10 or so unique lines.

Thanks for the replies. I've been on hard the entire game and tried to switch my party around a bit, but I'm still stuck trying to grind it out.

I have Futaba's social link maxed and I've been using the debuff items. I've been ambushed, but I don't know if I can get ambushed by strong enemies at this point (I'm in the mid 60s). I've also used Rush a few times.

I'm wondering if I should just do the final bosses and pray that I get it at this point.

Actually, I think I'll try to let everyone get killed first. I think I'm probably missing most of those lines.

Edit: Thank god; just got it. Managed to have Mona fall asleep.

Makoto maybe, but what makes you think Ann is a planetarium kind of girl, lol.

Nothing. I just ran out of places to take her that she hasn't already been to. :p

I don't think it's really about the sales but the value, and the overall supervision. Animation quality, especially in the Japanese anime industry, is an interesting thing. It's not entirely about money, but where the money goes. Atlus has changed studios for each Persona game. P3 used Point Pictures which was literally a "who?!" nobody studio. Persona 4 used A-1 Pictures, which is the Sony Aniplex studio that also animated the various Persona 4 TV anime and the Persona 3 movies. Persona 5 uses Production IG, which is a veteran studio known for high quality films like Ghost in the Shell. But yet the actual quality doesn't change much after the initial flashy opening scenes. Why? It's probably not because they don't have the money, but rather because no one making it cares to demand a consistent quality. As long as it looks decently on model, it's "good enough". Considering how well the actual Persona 4 anime sold versus how bad I think it looks, it seems the main audience for this isn't complaining either.

So no, I don't expect it to change much regardless of the success, unless someone passionate about animation quality and direction either ends up directing the anime scenes (this kinda happened in Catherine and the Etrian Odyssey Untold games, they got lucky) or the actual Atlus leads demand more of the studios they outsource to. Given how their attention is probably focused on internal efforts though, I think what they can care about is limited. Which is why the 3D cutscenes are looking better and better, while there isn't much improvement on the anime scenes. The internal staff making the 3D scenes are super motivated and clearly the standard they set for themselves are high.

In artistic projects, effort isn't always about how much money you put into it.

Anytime out of combat, enter the Stats screen and just change the active party members (via the square button, iirc). Doesn't need to be in a safe room.

thanks

......70 hours into this game and i just learned this

I feel like it'll be such a disappointment if all we get in terms of spinoffs for this are an anime, a fighting game, and a rhythm game.

I'm certainly hoping Atlus realizes they can't simply apply what worked in Persona 4 spinoffs to what would work in Persona 5 spinoffs.

They really need to cut some fat when it comes to dialogues .

Having a lot of it is great but sometimes long ones occur to say the exact same thing that has been said two days ago .

Or like when you unlock a door in a palace. No need to have dialogue pop up every single time. It gets really irritating and sometimes I end up skipping relevant dialogue lines because of the non ending crap that kept popping up just before that .

Finished!
The ending was amazing, holy shit. All those revelations...
P5 was kinda my first Persona game and I really loved it. That makes me wonder what P6 will look like, but we will have to wait a long time haha

(Now I'm a biiit tired, because I stopped the game at 4AM, cutscenes and final boss were lasting forever lol)

This year i've finished BOTW, Nier Automata and last night after 128 hours I rolled credits on this. Easiest GOTY decision of all time, game blew away all my expectations, and it's just incredible.
