But what I was talking about was the huge blind spot the left had regarding the widespread appetite for xenophobic fascism that left us in the situation we are in today. "No way does this crazy, sexual-assault loving racist get past our system!" was the cry right up until the very, very end. The same blind spot that leaves people thinking extreme racism is a Southern problem instead of an American problem. The same blind spot that tone polices BLM over whether or not the street clashes are helping. The same blind spot MLK acknowledged when he wrote a letter from a Birmingham Jail. You know how sometimes you can watch a movie or TV show set during the Civil Rights Era and there's almost always one white bystander who immediately recognizes the virtue of equality and inclusion and acts accordingly, risking everything to keep the oppressed out of harm's way? Yeah that's what people think is happening right now around the country in response to this announcement. But it isn't. Not even close.

him and his type of people have had 60+ years to figure out how to reword and retool some old ways that worked outside the US and somewhat in the US

I'm actually surprised that there is not a lot of people talking about this. I suppose the health care seems to be the priority now. Let's hope this thing doesn't get out of control, I guess...sigh

This shit is so transparent in its motive it's almost unbelievable. "How do we turn sentiment against immigrants? Create an agency that reports out of context crime statistics no one (except our opposition) will look into."

Imagine if immigrant were replaced by any other minority say Jewish people. Although at this point, I'm not even sure the response would be any different.
