Spring Anime 2017 |OT| Don't be a SukaSuka for Gacha

Good - MHA
OK - AOT Season 2, Sakura Quest
Guilty Pleasure - Love Tyrant
About to Drop - Re:Creators
Will probably pickup - Akashic Records, Tsuki ga Kirei

Eccentric Family 2 and Virgin Souls I still need to see the first seasons of before I pickup.

I don't know if I would consider Tsukigakirei sappy. I feel the show does a good job of showing the characters to be pretty multifaceted. Akane isn't just her anxiety, and her kinda odd way of coping with it. Kotaro isn't just his writing hobby. They both have pretty different family lives and hobbies, and I feel the show does a good job of showing them. So when the romance aspects take center stage, they feel real, and not just two characters written to be awkward.

That's not to say the show is flawless, especially when it comes to the use of CG people. I get crowds are hard to animate, but whoo. Also I wasn't the biggest fan of the odd shorts at the end of episode 2.

With a few more episodes of everything under my belt this is how I see the season so far:

Best
My Hero Academia S2 - Ton of fun so far, I can see why people feel the manga hit its stride at this point (Sports festival was the only arc I hadn't read/seen at this point.)
Attack on Titan S2 - So glad to finally experience these parts with actually enjoyable visuals <-- shots at manga art. Now the good story can be good visually too.
KADO - Methodical, gripping, I'm still hooked to see how it'll play out.
Tsukigakirei - My wife and I seem so at odds on this one. I surprisingly love it, while she's much more mediocre on it.

Good
Atom: The Beginning - Not feeling the problems are quite as big as others make them out to be. So far seems to capture the same tone as what I've enjoyed of Astro Boy (The 2003 version to be specific, since there's like, 4 iterations counting the CGI movie.
Re:Creators - I'm so at odds with Gaf on this. Episode 2 was a bit weak, but Episode 3 was really interesting as they tried to explore the internal mechanics of creators and creations. I mean, it's not a mind-blowing show, but it's a fun idea.
Eromanga-Sensei - If they can keep the sis/bro stuff to a minimum
I bet they can't
then I feel like it's still a solid comedy.
Grimoire of Zero - Still having a lot of fun with this one.
The Royal Tutor - Pretty funny and seems to get more enjoyable every episode.
Girl Beats Boys - Still funny and insane
WorldEnd - It's enjoyable, though I'm still not crazy about it like others, I think that's because I still feel like I don't really know most of the girls besides that they're cute and shouldn't have to die.
Sakura Quest: Haven't seen the latest episode but I still feel it's a fun comedy. Not sure what all the trouble is about.
Sword Oratoria - Generally pretty fun, though the grouping joke is already dangerously old.
Seven Mortal Sins - If you like ecchi that pushes boundaries to the max, this is inappropriately fun.

Decent
Alice & Zouroku - I liked this show a lot more when we were focused on the slice of life stuff and the latest developments honestly kinda feel like stuff that should've happened much later in the story after we'd really built up a relationship between Zouroku and Sana. I don't hate the thriller/supernatural stuff, but I feel like the show does better when that stuff isn't squarely in the foreground.
Love Tyrant - Gradually becoming more miss than hit for me and I feel like some of the humor is way to random i.e. Rape Penguin.

Bad
Akashic Records: It speeds through anything that might've given a sense of character interaction and relationships in order to hit the big dramatic events of episode 3. So then episode 4 feels really unearned as we've never really seen Glenn get to know the whole class outside of montages and being told he did.

Awful
I already dropped everything I felt was actually awful.

Nice.

I remember this chapter from the manga, it was undoubtedly one of my favorite ones. This season should have some pretty good chapters If I remember right.

When the mascot talking animal tells you to go to bed.

The demoness with the dogs has to be the most ridiculous demon design ever. lol

The show is still plenty of fun, I even start to like Favaro.

My opinion on the stuff I'm watching so far is:

Great - Kado, AoT2
Good - Tsuki ga kirei
Ok (junk food tier) - Saenai Heroine, Re:Creators
Bad (like, garbage-truck-on-fire-but-I'm-still-watching kind of bad) - Eromanga Sensei

Sakura Quest Episode 4 - I actually really liked this episode, I guess I'm a contrarian at heart. lol Now that I see the hook of the show is going to tradition vs adapting to changing trends for tourism I'm really interested. And yeah, I think I actually like the character designs better than Shirobako's. :p

Ghost Stories - Checked out the old ADV Gag-dub of this based on a recommendation from r/anime. The jokes were very hit or miss in the Family Guy kind of way where once you go overboard with the offensive humor, it can start losing its luster.

Ms. Koboyashi's Dragon Maid Episodes 1-12 - Pretty enjoyable series, with a few really outstanding animation moments. Not every gag was laugh out loud funny, but it was pretty amusing over all. Saikawa was probably my favorite character from the ensemble. Outside of the one apparently flubbed line, I thought the dub of it was really good as well. The finale should be premiering tonight, so I'll probably be watching it once I get off from work.

*types up 10 chapters*

*decides that one small event he wrote about could be done differently*

*takes every page he wrote to the fireplace*

*does everything he can in this imaginable world besides writing new book*

Frustrated fan: hey like.. Where's the new b-

Neogaf: God man give him some slack he deserves his rest he isn't your little servant

He writes only at home hunting and pecking on an early 1980s word processor.

I mean I knew part of that but to not even type properly...

The inane length some people go to in order to keep their current 'comfortable' workflow intact instead of spending a few weeks to adapt something actually comfortable and drastically more efficient will not cease to boggle my mind.

Like, the fucking guy could've most likely saved literally years worth of time but no...

Tiger Mask as a heel is a true gut punch.

Also I just watched two episodes worth of Noah's ark in dragon ball super.

Still don't get why the fights are better than during the exhibition match. They do pretty cool stuff in expanding the universe, but the main fights feel so lackluster.

The "filler" parts are more interesting and I don't get it. Kinda like they wanna return to dragon ball and forget they need some fights as well.

BGBW's gifs are making me want to watch Cinderella Girls and this short spin-off, but that will have to wait until I finished K-ON S2. Last episode of K-ON S2 watched...6.5 years ago.

Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL Season 1 Episode 17 – It’s in the Cards: Part One

No way is there a real fortune teller in this, I will just guess that the Kaito that is up there in this episode is some type of camera or something. Only explanation.

I hope Astral realizes it.

Yuuma's friends are hilarious.

Can't say much about this Arc ending for Kaoru Tanamachi mostly because it just a continuation of them together but this time going on a trip by themselves. I guess the only positive thing from this arc is the bonding between them are much stronger after what have happen during the summer trip. Other than that, it didn't really add any thing on the table when you think about it a bit. Like I say, just more stuff between them like you see from SS. Still, I got entertain at the end.

Top pics from SS+ which I watch just now. Bottom pics from SS. Just know the MC have a pervert attitude which you see in Japanese Man (to target the real Japanese male teen for the game and anime). So, you see quite a few sexual stuff here and there in all the arc.

Kabuki Club Episode 1

Im so late on this but it was very fun and refreshing. Kuro's excitement over Kabuki actually made me excited just to learn and see more about it. I hadnt thought much of it before but this has been educational and entertaining. I hope Kuro continues to have his random moments of poses and lines in his characteristic tone, its amazing.

The future club members are all unique and interesting. Favorite will probably be the actual Kabuki guy, Jin Ebihara. His scene in the hallway was mesmerizing.

Chaika S2 ep.4-5
Loved this shot of both crews calling a truce.
Other than that, this story went some weird and unexpected places with all the Chaika's and their purpose, as well as adding a new character/weapon into the group..

The suffering gets ratcheted up and for the first time all series I actually liked an episode from start to finish. Sayaka and Kyoko continuing their battle over how their powers should be used gets an added dimension after Kyoko reveals her Wish being used on her father ended up driving him insane and getting her whole family killed is what drives her to act only in her self interest only to have Sayaka throw that back in her face by saying she wants nothing to do with her selfish lifestyle. Then of course Hitomi shows back up just to make Sayaka's already difficult life just a bit, actually a lot, worse (along with this we get the revelation that Sayaka is actually a childhood friend, poor girl). Then we end with Sayaka revealing she almost wishes she never saved Hitomi, and the final scene is Sayaka detaching her soul from her "vessel" as she looks to basically go insane. Good stuff all around.

Kado - The Right Answer: 3

I mean if there's one thing I know is that humans fighting over resources never ends well. Is Yaha-kui trying to purposely make the world have a war with Japan? This will end badly for everyone but the alien at this rate.

Eccentric Family 5
An episode about the Friday Fellows and I'm really no closer to being fine with the tanuki hotpot thing. They really half-assedly try to explain why the people eating it find it okay but instead of coming off justified it just sounds like an afterthought, and not a particularly coherent one at that.

it's something you need to accept as part of the circle life in this universe, but don't worry some of us (aka at least me) still think it's fucked up. I understand every reasoning as to why it's the norm and like within the rules of this universe it's meant to work, but if you can sit down with someone and talk and have friendly conversations with them and decide to eat them it bothers me too much.

Re:CREATORS Episode 1

Please be 24 episodes or, this was one of the strongest episode 1s of the season. The whole time going from the normal world to the other world while then meeting a few of the other people in search of their creators was a pretty fantastic experiences. I also loved Selestia being embarrassed by the manga about her and some of the other details Souta was able to share, also Meteora's joke at the end...wow.

The swords from Gunpuku were kind of amazing with how she was able to keep them spinning midair both directions and launch them.

Hyped for more.

Good OP song and Sawano OST for me.
