Takeda is retiring. I guess the "fellow" position is not something that is going to be filled, right?

ANALYST EXPECTATIONS BLOWN THE FUCK OUT

WE'RE BACK MY NINTENBROS

something-something-the-wii-u-sold-well-initially-as-well-we-will-have-to-wait-and-see-and-check-again-in-a-year...

I'm glad the Switch is performing as well as it does, because it's well deserved.

Its a great start but we need to see how they sustain momentum throught this year into next.

The die hard fans will buy it regardless, its reaching beyond that that the wii u failed to do.

I imagine they're going to be really aiming for as much as 15 million units by next year.

That 10 million will come and go with relative ease.

Nintendo plans to ship 10 million Switch units this fiscal year.

That's going to be another forecast they just wreck

With their current lineup, what's coming in the next months, and whatever they announce at E3, no way in hell they don't sell that many units this FY.

Awesome :) It's great to see that Nintendo is successful with the Nintendo Switch and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Seeing how easily they blew through those 2.74 million, I hope they are prepared to up production for next fiscal year too, since I have a feeling 10 million could be tight.

Wow! Now I really think that if Zelda BOTW attach rate doesn't slow down it could beat lifetime sales of Ocarina of Time.

Regarding Nintendo Switch, we will maintain buzz about The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and 1-2-Switch, which are off to a phenomenal start, and release Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in April and ARMS in June worldwide.

Nooooooooo

Europe and its associated PAL regions seem to be doing fairly brisk sales. Almost a million units in launch month. Only 260k behind NA roughly.

Am I the only one reading the title as "this fucking year"?

10 million seems fine as a goal but is definitely a conservative underestimate if it keeps selling everything they ship.

It's shipped numbers, not sold. Zelda doesn't have a 100% attach rate.

you are right
it's over 100% (we even have actual numbers for the US thanks to NPD that already covered this for that market)

Nintendo Switch Sales Units in Ten Thousands

Soooo, am I right in thinking that basically the PAL (not EU only) region were able to sell almost 1 million hardware pieces? I know we knew about its record breaking launch in the West, but after the Wii U debacle is good to see also "my" region being able to join the party

Now to wait for that one gaffer who insisted BOTW wasn't good enough for people to double down on that position, somehow.
Yeah Zelda was always going to be a system seller, but how MUCH of a system seller it would be was unexpected by everyone.

I know it's been said betide but it's true so it's worth pointing out: Zelda would have been helped to that attach rate due to the lacklustre launch lineup, and no bundles. But even if it had launched alongside something else big, I imagine it would have had a really good attach rate. I wonder what the attach rate for Mario 64 was?

Between Pokémon and Super Mario Odyssey, good luck finding a Switch during the Holidays heh

I still think that if Pokémon is to come to the Switch before jumping to a new Pokémon generation, then it needs to be cross platform with the 3DS, so that'd alleviate things a bit.
