It's not. I'm around 7 hours in and most of the time I'm going through wide open areas with some mazes around. From what i've seen of the game it looks like a corridor fest. Incredibly boring.
Reviews are already outWell I'm waiting for reviews so this is what Bethesda wanted right?
0 marketing by my observations.

It's all of these things. It's an immersive sim.
Just went to two sites I'd normally read and I see reviews in progress, so not exactly.Reviews are already out
For an average gaming audience "immersive sim" doesn't easily describe a game.
What are these good publishers that would allocate a decent budget for an immersive sim?
Looks fun I guess but I don't really feel like spending fifty quid at the moment.
The hell is a immersive simulator?
I thought Prey 2/reboot was a first person shooter.

You're asking the wrong question.
What are these good publishers that would allocate a decent budget for a great reviewing immersive sim and not advertise it at all?
Only Bethesda probably.
it was constantly advertised on SyFy in the uk but that's a sky/virgin channel which i doubt has a big audience. a few hundred thousand maybe

There really could. There couldn't be a better first post on this topic.

Without Bethesda the game would not even exist. There would have been nothing to advertise.

Prey is already out?
Interesting. What kind of timeframe are we talking about? Is it expected sales for the first month?Generally speaking, marketing is spent as a percentage of expected sales (10% to 15% frequently).
SteamSpy also shows geographical stats. If we are talking about owners, then 8.2% are from the UK. Although it's worth to mention that Galyonkin (the man behind the service) has said that the data is not very reliable with recently released games. It's best to wait few more days to have more accurate information.Strangely, SteamSpy are reporting 112k owners of Prey:
https://steamspy.com/app/480490
Not sure how accurate that is, but as they've had 84k unique players in the last two weeks I'm going to assume it's not far off.
EDIT: wait that's global isn't it? My bad.
It's Arkane. One of the best current gaming studios. I'm pretty sure it would exist, just not called "Prey".

It doesn't really do so for many people. For an average gaming audience "immersive sim" doesn't easily describe a game.

Dishonored 2 came out late last year, well after this game was in development. After the disappointing sales of Dishonored 2 I doubt this game would have existed without the name "Prey". You gotta keep in mind, Bethesda was probably looking at any opportunity to use that name to reboot the IP after the whole fiasco with Prey 2.
