Sounds like they're adding different play styles... Arcade, Simulation, and Competitive. Very interested in that as it's difficult to please all people. I hope they don't lock online play (e.g., CFM) to "Competitive" style or something. Like there should be ladders for each, and adjustable for your CFM (which I imagine it will be). So, just like how other games do it, if you want to play Arcade or Simulation online you should be able to join a specific ladder/lobby for that.

Other details trickling in:
  • They're adding a story mode to Madden this year
  • It was confirmed earlier this year that Madden would switch over to Frostbite for their graphics/engine rendering (they've been using a hybrid engine called EA Ignite since last gen)
  • Release date sounds like Tuesday August 22nd, but unsure of whether that's the early release w/ EA Access, which is usually the Friday before the official release
Ignite was their hybrid physics engine after locomotion.

Frostbite appears to be just graphics as I see alot of the same legacy animations.

You also get the game early by buying the goat edition so goat is tuesday regular friday

No lies in that cover. Don't care about the Madden curse. Brady could throw a thousand interceptions next season and it would not hurt his status. Best there is, best there was and perhaps the best that ever will be.

i dont get how people can hate this man and fail to see this. same with lebron really.

Oh god, you actually believe this.

If they didn't think who was on the cover mattered they wouldn't be making a big deal out of it every year. I loathe tom brady and hate everything he stands for. It's the first year this gen I thought about passing up on madden

You thought about it.

But you won't.

Of course I believe it. Most people I know aren't annual purchasers of Madden (they might be if it was even a mediocre game, but it's shit) and most people I know (that care about football) can't stand Tom Brady. I doubt either of those situations is unusual. Ergo, my point stands.

Native 4K on Pro like The Show and 2K? Hope so!

How do Frostbite games handle that now? When they announced Frostbite as the graphics engine last year, I figured it had something to do with the new, 4K capable consoles (Pro and Scorpio) because I'd imagine Frostbite has better graphics scaling than whatever graphics engine they've been using for Madden games in the past.

I can't imagine this would negatively affect sales. I mean, they had a legit murderer on the cover with Ray Lewis in Madden '05, one of the best selling Maddens ever (and one of the best Maddens ever too), and then he came back for a special edition Madden '25 anniversary edition. Madden '25 sold poorly (comparatively) but not because of Ray Lewis.

Also as much as people really strongly hate Tom Brady, he's the #1 selling jersey in the NFL like 3 years in a row, and not all of them are people in New England. He's also been in the top 5 jerseys for nearly his entire career... from like 2003 and on, every year. THere's just not enough people living in New England to buy a Brady jersey every year to keep him on that top 5, and #1 for several years in a row.

Brady on the cover won't negatively affect sales. Cover athletes haven't affected sales before (freaking Browns hybrid full back Peyton Hillis was the cover boy in M'12, a player that 99% of NFL fans couldn't name today), and if Brady affects sales, it's going to be positive, not negative.

you know his jersey was the highest selling in the nfl last year right? - http://m.nflshop.com/pages/Top_Selling_Jerseys

your salt is insignificant

Dak will beat his ass for you though

The best part is, Brady could get hurt this year and the Pats will still win the AFC, and be in the super bowl with Jimmy G leading them to victory. Team is stacked this year
