Star Wars: Lucasfilm possibly holding off on Obi-Wan spin-off for surprising reason.

Rey is Snokes kidnapped daughter. Snoke is ObiWans son. But, the obiwan in the OT is an imposter who took the name and job of protecting Luke after obiwan died between trilogies from sandenitus. The imposters true identity, Cliegg Lars, who is ObiWans half brother from another mother, and who got robot feet. Who was Snokes mom? Shmi. Rey is a skywalker and a Kenobi. Snoke is a skywalker and a Kenobi.

But wait there's more. Phasma is the granddaughter of Boba Fett. Jango Fett was Shmis separated at birth brother. Boba Fett and Phasma are also Skywalkers.

Did I miss anything?

Yes. Who was the true owner of Salacious B Crumb and what will the B be revealed to have stood for?

So Obi Wan came back to Tatooine and fucked Shmi in order to spite Anakin for turning against the Jedi? That's dark, man!
Also, is sandenitus an STD?

Can Obi-Wan be the eccentric, kooky neighbour who's constantly getting under the skin of an increasingly irritated Owen?

Owen: "Stay away from my property!"
Ben: "Sure, whatever you say Owen"

I went back about a page and a half - why is this bumped.

Did someone say something of absolutely zero worth and consequence in a red carpet interview or a talk show or something?

Ah ok, was thinking for a moment maybe the beard tranformed him
Y'all are joshin' but as a kid I sincerely thought they had recast Obi-Wan between Episodes 1 and 2 because to my 8-year-old mind McGregor with a beard looked like an entirely new person.

I remember watching the behind-the-scenes stuff on the Phantom Menace VHS and seeing bearded McGregor sitting in on some John Williams rehearsal sessions. I called my dad into the room and yelled "Look! They already had the new one picked out!" he told me "Oh, really" and pat me on the head.

I don't think Rey is Skywalker...First off Kylo would probably recognize his own cousin if not through just seeing her (she looked what...6-8 when being dropped off) he'd sense her. He'd have know her from training with her father. And then all of that discounts her being Leia's daughter or niece...Cause c'mon, Leia would have known?!?
Then Luke would also be able to sense and psychically notice his own child. Maybe it'll be revealed as such in his first words, but I doubt it. His look was one of "who the fuck are you?" Not "oh hey daughter!"

I don't understand why people want the Rey is Obi-Wan's grandkid theory to be true. I just can't imagine it not being the most convoluted shit. It'd be better if she was nobody's kid.

Well, we want Ewan's Obi-Wan in a good movie :p

What's so special about McGregor Kenobi anyway? Got nothing on the real one to be honest.

Regardless, Ewan is a great actor and that character played by him in a great movie would be awesome.

You're taking what you think personally about him from the prequels and trying to project it into a future work that would be made by completely different people whereas others are thinking it could be really great if/when done better.

I mean your opinion is fine but that's where others are coming from.

This. Ewan's a fine actor but the magic of Obi-Wan was always in Alec Guinness' performance.

...and no Lucasfilm that doesn't mean you need to digitally resurrect him, stop it

So basically The Last Jedi is going to reveal she is a kenobi

Rey actress thought her parentage was revealed in TFA because she hears Obi Wan when she first gets the lightsaber

Obi Wan movie explaining how Rey came to be after TLJ but before Episode 9

Nah. Ewan McGregor and James Arnold Taylor gave Obi Wan far more than Alec Guinness did in his stint, as great an actor as he was. First doesn't always mean best.

And people just want McGregor to get the chance to shine as Obi Wan under a competent director.

Christensen deserves the chance too imo, but for some reason people are okay with Natalie and Sam Jackson turning in awful performances in the prequels but Hayden's are all his fault.

Hope Obi Wan gets to show up in some capacity.

Yea I'll wait till there's a bit more than hearsay. I would totally dig a Obi-Wan movie with Ewan though.

Han Solo is between TLJ and Episode 9.

To me it seems more likely that Disney is being quiet on any more Star Wars films after Solo and Episode 9 is because Episode 9 is the last of the sequel trilogy and anything they announce will come after the new trilogy has been finished off. They probably want to decide what the future of the Star Wars films is going to be once they don't have the main saga to run between films, do they do Anthology films forever, move quickly on to Episode 10? or do they try and start a new trilogy of films with a different family of characters to follow?

The latter to me seems more likely as they have been calling the episodes the Skywalker Saga more and more frequently and it has appeared in press releases, probably to differentiate any future set of film from the current episodes.

Thanks man I don't have the energy to describe how on point Ewan was during the PT.

Outside of Shattered Glass, name a well acted film he starred in.

Jackson, Portman and McGregor have all proven themselves beyond Star Wars on several accounts, not just a single film post Star Wars fandom (hell... even shitty movies like Your Highness, Portman proved to be a shining light). Perhaps you can attribute it to a shitty agent getting him bottom of the barrel roles? Either way, He's had plenty of opportunities to prove himself outside of Star Wars and has only one good film to his resume.

yeah but a Kenobi bringing a Skywalker (kylo ren) back into the light...whew. it brings closure to the 9 film saga.

and then have the ghosts of mufasa, obi wan, yoda, boromir, anakin and han solo watching as they celebrate.

Awful. Kylo Ren shouldn't be redeemed. But ending the Skywalker line with Kylo Ren dying evil messes with everything.

The only real solution is for Rey to be a Skywalker.

"Name a movie where he acted well except that one. Theres no excuse except the one I say right after"

A good director can push even a shitty actor to do well, and I thought he was fine in Jumper. The OT wasn't some Pinnacle of acting talent. And Hayden didn't kill your dog by getting stuck in movies whose badness/mediocrity was entirely the fault of the director.

I have a few doubts about that theory.

1. It's too obvious.
2. Kylo Ren is a Skywalker and yet the lightsaber doesn't call to him so I don't think it matters.
3. How is she a Skywalker? Is she Luke's daughter? Luke is a Jedi and has no love interests and if she is Luke's daughter then why did he not raise her?

1. Lord Sidious being Palpatine was obvious but there were people like you who said it was too obvious

2. If Rey is Luke's daughter then it makes sense why it would call to Rey over Ben

3. Jedi can have sex and have kids but they're not allowed to have familial and romantic attachments(we don't know if the rules have changed for the new Jedi). That could be why Luke didn't raise Rey. Or maybe Luke was too busy training Jedi that he had no time in his life for a family to be there for.

I dont see what they can make from Obi Wan movie than can be interesting, dont feel like pure Fan Service and can add some new stuff to Star Wars.

The only theme than i can think of is Obi Wan force gost training. Make Obi Wan like Doctor Strange and explore the force in a metaphysics way that could be interesting but will need a verry good director.
