I'm not so sure about that. It's looking like power unit reliability is going to decide this championship and Vettel needed to build up a points lead to offset the inevitable penalties.

Good race though.

Kmag lost out there, and actually wrecked his own race with Kvyat. Also Stroll is now dead last, and well done Hamilton. We've got a race season on our hands.

Dr. Hasegawa should be the "driver" if the day.Because McLaren overtook a Mercedes powered car on a straight line and the engine did not blew out.

Kidding. Wehrlein should be.

P2 actually pretty decent for Ferrari.

Remember how w e all said Mercedes updates would destroy Ferrari?

This is definitely the biggest surprise. Ferrari also brought new parts and it seems like they're working so far. It's just a shame that the reliability is going to bite them later in the season.

I predict Vettel losing the championship by less than 10 points.

Pretty decent race that had everything

Battles and nice overtakes at the front
High profile crashes and retirements
Emotional lows and highs (with the Ferrari kid)
Underdog points
And the meta fact that Merc and Ferrari are still this close after the first set of updates

Shame about Alonso being handed through to the back though

Ferrari strategist are really odd. Surely they know Mercs like putting Hamilton on slower tyres mid race whenever he's behind. And he generally gets to attack in the end, if not always getting anything from it.

Stopping after the VSC too. Shame.

I must say I was not expecting Hamilton to win after the start, but whelp, he did it. This season seems like it's going down to the last race.

Hello darkness my old friend.

I'm totally happy though, it looked like it was a done deal after FP2 but it turned out to be pretty damn close both in qualifying and the race.

Next time brokasten! Vettel is going to ace Monaco.

I expect a repeat of this weekend. Losing pole by a tiny margin and Ferrari screwing up the strategy again.

Not to mention that the reliability issues should start to bite them soon.

The vibe between Lewis and Seb is pretty damn magnanimous so far. They're clearly enjoying the contest.

It's been brewing for a long time. They've both won multiple championships during hugely dominant seasons, so I imagine they're happy to finally have someone equally as good to fight against.

I feel bad for Bottas but a bit relieved that it didn't happen to Hamilton. It would have been a bit much if he had to be on the back foot yet again with bad luck.
