Yowamushi Pedal New Generation Episode 20

Well I guess I had too high expectations thinking Kaburagi would have won,
screw Douboushi, Kaburagi deserved it. Kaburagi's kami sama part was hilarious,
I love Aoyagi for it

I...can't deny that this show is extremely well made and good looking. I think above all thats what keeps me captivated by this show, because its entertaining to watch on a visual level. The show is really creative and has good color usage, almost reminds me of JoJo Part 3/4 and its good strong layouts and storyboards for certain.

The stories were actually fairly decent this time around. I like the second one cuz the guy turns into Waluigi then plays Crazy Taxi.

I thoight the show was about to go in a shit direction again, but thankfully, it just ended up being super cute instead. I wish they ran the whole show like the past couple really good episodes that followed Sana adjusting to normal life

Damn, unwatchable? What is it that caused an impression that negative?

The new first-years introduced in the second season had really grating personalities, the endless karuta matches were boring to watch, and the production continued to slide into mediocrity after the strong start of the first season. I was already getting checked out of the series after the recap episode of the first season, and the second season didn't give me any reason to keep watching.

That first half of the first season is some strong stuff though. Might as well pretend the series ends there.

We'll never get a 3rd Chihayafuru season, though, right? After a cursory search I've found out that it didn't sell well but gave a huge boost to manga sales, which are still going strong to this day so we're likely shit out of luck ;~;

I'm going to admit the manga hasn't really gone very far past the end of the anime. Or at least I feel its progress is slow as shit.

What Kirara wants, Kirara gets. In this case she gets to hijack Yume and Laura's event. That's one scary sheep. And quite possibly the first big conflict between Four Stars and Venus Ark. Help everyone shine or let the strong devour the weak? Kirara acting that selfish and staying that way was a surprise, though she lets up a bit at the end. Also the return of Tsubasa-senpai. From one student council president to the effective president. And departure to Hollywood? That's all 3 former S4 fleeing the country. Taking advantage of opportunities, or bailing a sinking ship? You decide.

It's really just the show forcing them out of the way so the conflict is faced by the show's core group.

In the past week I finished Dragon Maid and that's it.
I'm really keeping up.

Lol, get on that...

Koe no Katachi was so good. A lot of really strong scenes, outstanding animation and it was generally a great film. KyoAni made something good again.
Kawai was the worst and Ueno was a better character than I expected. Also, surprisingly, Ishida was a pretty good main character.

I cringed hard at some of the early classroom scenes with Ishida
being a complete piece of shit to Nishima

Yeah, I'm still unsure about the way they ended things. Nishima and Ishida
were basically going through the same feelings of helplessness and lack of self-worth, but they never really explored those feelings and that issue together. It was a great scene where he saved her, but then they never really followed up on the situation between the two of them. Nishima "confessed" to him much earlier in the movie, but they just ignored it after that scene and stuck with the friend theme, even in the end. I get what they were going for, but at the same time, I feel they should have had the two leeads explore those feelings of friendship, remorse and couping with life together..
Ueno pissed me off to no end btw. At least she was honest in the end, but why did Kawai try so herd to
get her back as a friend through all the shit she got from Ueno?
Also, Nishima's imouto was best girl!

You guys should read the manga for A Silent Voice. I really enjoyed it and different from the movie.

Also seeing tweets saying Non Non Biyori announced a anime project.

Depends on the specific figure to be honest. As I understand it, usually yes. I don't think they're making any more of the Guts Berserk figures for example and any you still find on the market are left over stock/resellers.

Link got frequent reprints at one point and certain popular franchises with new figures being released might see others from the same series get a second run, but there's no guarantee before it happens.

A Silent Voice

It was really good. Production values from art, animation, and music were all top notch. Though the side characters were underrepresented, that's understandable due to how much needed to be cut out to fit into a movie. Still, the main plot between the two leads were well done and very touching, and I loved it overall.

Bully scenes were tough to get through. Also Kawai is terrible.

The Big O finally arrives and it's mostly intact. Original OP is gone of course as it was replaced for legal reasons in 2007. New OP is kinda ehh but dem's da breaks much like how NA will never get the proper Zeta Gundam OP1. IIRC the original film masters were lost/missing/whatever so S1 is unfortunately an upscale. It looks alright for the most part but stuff with small detail can look pretty bad. Unfortunate but again, that's just how things go.

Per the usual, here's some direct caps from the Sentai BDs for your inspection:

Also here is some comparisons from the 2001 Bandai DVDs in case anyone wanted to make a judgmental call about upgrading from an old set. I took some direct screencaps from them and scaled up them. Size isn't an exact match as I assume I messed something up but for the purposes of this exercise, it's enough for a comparison. https://diff.pics/ofMDnmZUtTCT/1

Second season was part of the digipaint SD nightmare from what I've been told and so looks to have its own issues. Didn't dig as far into S2 so just picked the second ep for a few screens.

Also comparison of the above to the 2003 Bandai DVDs: https://diff.pics/mG5WiY3dlyh6/1

Overall the show looked better than I thought it would but expectations were pretty low. Basically:

Big O 2 is one of those shows that looks better in motion than in stills. Season one looks better most of the time though.

It's pretty crap. I really dislike the way this movie looks. The backgrounds aren't lacking in detail or anything really but the light and shadow takes on bizarre patterns and the world itself feels almost alien. It stretches in fashions it should not so the locations are just wildly blown up, a side effect or contributing factor to the massive amount of barren space that dominates the frame regularly in the movie. In general the The colors look washed out in the worst way and KyoAni's blur on background elements is implemented so aggressively here that it can almost be nauseating. Not even the music can save the production side, filling space with a dry piano score that modernizes itself during climactic moments to comically detached results.

As for the story, it's nice that they tried with some of these themes I guess, but I wouldn't say they get very far. Even by the end of the movie there is no real transparency or emotional connection between the characters. I'm sure it's the perfect fit for fans of melodramatic whining about self sacrifice, but there is no real meaning or personal touch to this movie.

I agree on these two points. However the blur is less about KyoAni and rather it's just Yamada's directorial preference. It does get annoying but that's how she prefers the visuals. As for the music, yea it's kinda weird. At times it feels oddly at contrast with the scenes taking place.

Most Good Smile figures will get one printing, but popular ones will get several. Good Smile also occasionally does more limited figures that are only available through WonderFes and their online store (which does ship internationally).

Naoko Yamada is the best director working at KyoAni, and indeed one of the best directors working in Japan at the moment, and I doubt anyone will be able to convince me otherwise.

Yeah. I really liked it. Maybe as much as I did Your Name. Really has been a good 12 months for cinema anime imo.

Kouhei Tanaka's score helps too, the music is always perfect.

despite animegaf's thoughts.
blood-c is just horrid.
terrible characters, terrible story just terrible attempts at shock moments and not much else. If you enjoy watching people die you might find some enjoyment, but not much other enjoyment is to be found there.

though to be fair that is likely more true to the feel of the original movie because that wasn't very good either >.>

blood+ is the only decent thing to come out of the blood franchise.

and one of three franchise that I know of that turned from terrible movie to a decent tv series (the other two being buffy the vampire slayer and stargate)

Blood manga treated the relation between Saya and her rival much better.

Also it is really is baffling that they made an FMV Blood PS2 game with Producion IG quality animation instead of an animated series. The plot was much more interesting than the original movie too.

Looks like LWA TV in on netflix on June 30th, long after anyone would care about it.

wait what's that? only the first thirteen episodes?

even less reason to care

lololololol

Not even the decency to just dump them all.

Maybe they're doing corrections and are going to upload the BD versions.
That won't happen.

Wow.

I really can't agree with any of this. I thought the animation was top-notch! From framing the scenes, to the colors used in the scenes, to the little motions characters emoted during scenes. It is well-crafted.

As for the story, I had a deep connection with the characters and their story. As did the people who watched it with me. The movie is far from melodramatic whining about self-sacrifice and about (MAJOR SPOILER)
two people who feel isolated from the rest of the world and feel they've actively made people's lives worse for being alive. Suicide is not something I feel one should merely brush off as "melodramatic whining about self-sacrifice."
