Nothing else to add to the discussion, or are we going to move on to criticizing actual saints in this thread too?

The important thing is to have lines.
No one can be really be expected to be a saint and never buy anything that was made by a company that exploits its workers in today's world as employee abuse is unfortunately too ubiquitous.
I just don't get why companies keep doing this. Surely they understand that if you create a fun work-environment the end-product will benefit greatly from it? You can't treat people like shit and expect to keep getting away with it. The sad thing is, they do and will continue to do so.
So you're just going to bypass all the really despicable shit and focus in on something made by highly educated, mid-to-high 5 figure to low-to-mid six figure guys in San Diego? Seems really weird to wake up one day and feel compelled to boycott something like U.S. video games (a small, $30 billion dollar industry) while buying electronics and clothing manufactured from China/Honduras/Sri Lanka/Bangladesh/etc., eating food processed by the industrial food complex, filling up your car with oil that was drilled in the oil sands or via earthquake-causing hydraulic fracturing, etc. etc.
Is that relevant to the thread? No, it's not. They used the wrong person for an anology, so that means their statment is completey invalid, right?"Actual saint"

You see this? This is whataboutism at it's finest. So you're just going to bypass all the really despicable shit and focus in on something made by highly educated, mid-to-high 5 figure to low-to-mid six figure guys in San Diego? In most industries it's not so simple. Finding time to interview, having to be wary of your employer sees, taking less pay with suited to a certain lifestyle, etc. everyone has a different situation. Additionally leaving the industry with skills that don't transfer elsewhere isn't always viable.
Every fucking time.I'm sure your decision will impact the guaranteed +8 million copies sold and Rockstar will proceed to improve the working conditions of their employees.
Anyways one'd expect Rockstar would make good use of that insane amount of free money they're getting out of literal nothing in GTA Online. Seems they're not as cool as people think.
PS:You'll buy it anyways.
Really, the only way change will occur is if the profits stop coming in. Even then, they won't change the work environment because they had a change of heart, though. They will do it so they can start making money again.

THAT'S
NOT
HOW
LIFE
WORKS
"Man this job is bad! I'll just quit and risk my financial stability because I know for sure in a difficult to get a job in industry like video games i'll be able to get another job in no time! Wow, life is so simple and easy!"
Rockstar should be named Mother Theresa Studios."Actual saint"

Going to buy 2 copies so the devs efforts don't go to waste.
Would be terrible to work like that then nobody buys your product and you lose your job.
Not saying it's going to happen to RS but u get the idea. Id also like to think most devs like to create worlds and get joy out of millions of people playing their game.
I'm afraid to ask what's the next step. You're going to stop buying electronics, make your own clothes and rely solely on the food from your garden?
I don't buy into this, at least not in San Diego. If the pay is already shit I find it hard to believe you couldn't float your resume around and eventually land a job elsewhere. I get that it may be difficult to get another job in the video game industry, but maybe it's time to consider leaving said industry temporarily until you get a job that doesn't make you miserable.
I take Glassdoor with a giant rock of salt personally. Way too easy to leave fake reviews on that site, and not many people are going on Glassdoor to give good reviews.
Not clever just honest.I'll bet the people bringing up electronics manufacturing think that they're really clever.
Meanwhile, there are game studios that aren't horrible.
Criticism of Mother Teresa is so widely discussed it has its own wikipedia page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Criticism_of_Mother_TeresaIt's a figure of speech, seriously. And last time I checked she did receive sainthood, as well as the Nobel Peace Prize
Non-compete clauses exist. They state you can't look for work elsewhere while employed by the company, and being employed by a similar company after leaving them can mean legal action.
Plus, what's the odds of just landing in another job immediately? Tech sector everywhere is swarming with people. Its not as easy as the click of two fingers.

Something else you should learn today is who Mother Theresa was.

Yeah i'm out. Friendly reminder, if you don't give a shit about the developers of video games than you are NEVER allowed to complain about games getting delayed, games being released in a buggy state or use the term "Lazy devs" because if you do, you're just a blissfully ignorant hypocrite that wants to have their cake and eat it.
But hey, at least you get Red Dead 2 and you'll buy all the DLC, collectors editions and microtransactions that come with it, right?
Keep pedalling that shit argument why don't you? I'm sure we understood the shitty point the million other times it was mentioned. Make all the excuses you want and go "Oh yeah, but what about THIS?", I'm sure your cynical "Everything sucks life is terrible" attitude will get you far.Much like those who ignore the fact that people died making your gaming rig, while finger wagging at R* over mandatory overtime.
This is an important point to bring up: why is Rockstar the only one that has pushed you to the edge OP and not any of the other countless companies not providing exemplary working conditions for their employees?
Why can you not both buy products from a corporation and criticize that and other corporations? Trying to shut down criticism by saying those people are somehow disingenuous because they've bought products from companies that also have immoral practices is ludicrous.Much like those who ignore the fact that people died making your gaming rig, while finger wagging at R* over mandatory overtime.
READ THIS POSTWe can talk about it in private but Id prefer this thread to be more about the topic, which is to further raise awareness that theres a lot more companies making AAA games with horrible business practices that shouldnt stand. Theres a fair amount of cynicism in this thread, but it seems like several people didnt know, so at least theres that.
As for broadening the subject to other industries, hell yes its problematic, but Id like to discuss this topic at hand right now.
Not clever just honest.
