Final Fantasy XV May 24 update adds survey to title screen regarding future updates

Some of us acknowledge the problems but still look forward to the hope that down the road the game will be a lot better. But it's okay for people to be excited. I rarely post in FFXV threads anymore because some people choose to be so damn hateful about everything.

Oh boo hoo

I would chose world of ruin, but I know it was cut from the final game, so they can fuck off. The last chapter is so frustrating.

Extent of the survey (accessed through Special on the Main Menu)

I chose Story Content: World of Ruin

That endgame was super interesting and really short, would love to go around the world in that state

I'm so fucking angry at this I don't even know how to respond. It's literally my list of "what did I miss when playing the game". The whole damn list.

My gosh it's 7 in the morning and I can't already be this mad for the whole damn day...

Someone needs to compare the old rumors/leaks from before the game release and after the game release and if the content matches with these updates when they go live. I'm going to rofl so hard.

I posted a link to that leak thread yesterday on thia same thread, most of the story things of the survey were in the rumours like Noctis disapearing, world of darkness, Cor and Aranea being playable and Ardin's backstory.

Hmm don't care about playing as those additional characters, it'll be nice but eh. Will end up voting for Ardyn's Past.

The survey seems rather interesting. I wonder how they plan to implement whatever the fans vote the most for, and I WANT ALL OF THEM. ALL OF THEM!

Yeah, exactly. I am curious as to why some people insist on being asshats when talking about something like a videogame but I digress.

People criticize the game.

People whine about the criticism.

No one has grounds to act all holier than though, but one side sure seems to think they do. That's what I don't get.

Wow, that was a pretty long list of mostly important things to only be allowed to choose one of.
I ended up going with "World of Ruin," but I'll admit, but it took some thinking.

I'd really like to see more spells in the game besides just the three basic elements, "Hard Mode" should be a fucking given and not something people have to vote on, and one of my most wanted QoL/UI improvements isn't an option at all, and probably never will be.

It'd be awesome if the character skill palette allowed you to differentiate between, say, tapping, holding and double-tapping so we could have more than 1 of each bro's skills equipped at a time.

Similarly, I'd like Noctis' weapon palette to go from 4 to 8 somehow, as there's weapon types that most people never even touch on since it always feels like giving up something you're comfortable with and/or works well. Having Magic and the Lucian Ring take up a palette slot only makes the problem exponentially worse. Opening the Equip menu mid-combat is momentum-killing, contextually weird, and shouldn't be so encouraged by the game's systems.

Oh boo hoo

Flawless.

I'm not whining about criticism. I have criticisms about the game myself. I'm "whining" about repetitive, garbage drive by posts and people who don't like the game basically criticizing in pretty lame and immature ways those that disagree or are hopeful for the updates.

I don't find good or productive discussion in it, and it's been a thing since November. There's no "holier than thou" feeling. More like a "Jesus Christ still this same shit?" feeling.

Okay, it's certainly a bit disappointing that so much of that survey is "story content."

They can stop with that nonsense. Add features and gameplay content to the game but adding "story content" for stuff that should have been there at launch -- half a year later -- is just silly.

To get back on topic, how can Gentiana be playable? Or do they mean as a party member.

The playable character just seems like party member instead of actually controllable character.

P.S These characters have already been teased in the PC tech showcase video so I guess this survey is just for fast tracking the focus that needs to be released first, as a way to gauge fan demand.

I would rather they eventually add all of it than not add it at all, no matter how much drama Khayos or others stir up about it in this thread.

I will eventually replay the game and having more content is good to me. I enjoyed the game as it was, but I think adding stuff (for free, mind you) is fine.

Ideally it should have launched in a perfect state, but at least they are adding it instead of scrapping it forever. I just simply like the game a lot and want it to keep getting better and better.

That's quite honestly exactly how I feel every time I hear about another update to this garbage.

This survey is a joke.

Also, I don't even think I'll bother doing it. I'm pretty sure whatever they're going to implement is going to be really, really half-assed anyways. Just like the base game itself plus all the DLC. Or like how Chapter 13 Verse 3 was their insanely pathetic attempt at fixing peoples' issues with Iedolas and Ravus.

I can't see the update right now because electricity went out in my building, but based on what the options are, it will be hard to choose. I want more about Ardyn, but I also want more about Luna. Hell, why not all of it? I wish there was an "all" option.

I really hope this won't be the norm going forward. Just gimme the full game and be done with it. I fear for FFVIIR

Ffvii is squares golden child, they aren't going to let anyone mess up squares legacy.

Although I understand where you're coming from, I won't be buying any current gen games from square at release due to ffxv, unless they somehow show this isn't the same bs as ffxv /Deus ex at launch.

This seems to be the norm this console cycle from AAA devs. It just seems to be a better option to wait a few months after the patches have rolled out and any issues have been fixed. Chances are you will get a discount on the price too.

They already split the game into 3(?) parts, most likely to avoid this exact scenario.
But, I mean, we're still totally going to see DLC.

FFVII: Remake is already divided in term of story. We are getting just Part 1 in 2018 if we are lucky and the rest will release god knows when.

Yeah, that's just the beginnig I bet. For me it really cheapens the whole experience. I mean, I'm never touching the DLC (I rarely do for any game even ones I like, BotW's season pass is a rare exception) so now I'm stuck with an incomplete feeling which is a shame because I actually love FFXV (my second favorite game last year), but I just can't see eye to eye with practices like this.

They are all going to be free, if they include them ingame. The only paid content are the already announced DLC.

Or maybe i can't detect sarcasm and you are being sarcastic.

I was just honestly asking, no sarcasm. I mean, what's stopping them from charging for all of these? Have they actually give us free story content outside of the announced DLC? I couldn't find any 'free' word in the survey as well.

As other have said, how about every single thing off this list? I don't have any idea which one to choose because all of them should be in the game. (with the exception of playable Luna and Gentiana)

I'd vote for hard mode.. but it really should have been there on day 1, without any other new content I wont replay the entire game even if it is added. (heal item spamming will get you trough 99.9% of the game with the exception of one specific dungeon where they aren't allowed)

Also, they really shouldn't even ask for it and add it anyway because how much effort can limiting heal items to let's say 1 of each per battle possibly take?

They said many times they would have supported the game adding content with patches for an entire year. Those are all patch contents. The survey speaks about updates. Updates=patches.

Yeah, it's definitely my biggest concern. I never thought this is a situation we would be in with a Final Fantasy game - or any story driven game in general, really. It's ironic that it was FFVII that blew my mind and showed me how brilliant gaming was as a form of media for good storytelling. FFVII was also what turned me into a more sporadic gamer into having a long-term love affair with the medium. It's so surreal - and extraordinarily disappointing - that this whole situation has even come to pass.

People really shouldn't be surprised that this game is getting supported like this, I mean: we still have two major character DLCs ahead of us, and the end of the visible road map is a full-on online multiplayer mode.
If you think that's not going to require some patches and content updates on its own, you're crazy, and if it does well, we might get a full 'nother year of content and, ugh, micro-transactions for it.

This game's probably going to be still getting updates this time next year, maybe into 2019 if the multiplayer takes off.

That makes me even more skeptical about this. If a paid story content is only 2-3 hours long, I wonder how would they make these ambitious story content update to be and what can we expect from them. I couldn't stop being skeptical because it's SE we're talking about.

For me everything to better explain the game events is welcome even if it's just few minutes long. I think people expecting much more than that are going to be disappointed.

The only thing i ask them is to put those story updates in a coherent way during the main story. Ardyn's story being a separate menu would be lame.

Are they going to charge $20 for each of that list?

Probably more like $5. Similar to Gladiolus's story segment.

Still. WHY IS ALL THAT STORY CONTENT A LIST!?........

How would we play as Lunafreya? Staff user like Yuna?

And what I don't see in that list is a cutscene or something about the fall of Tenebrae.

And what I don't see in that list is a cutscene or something about the fall of Tenebrae.

I imagine they can't fit Tenebrae into the story anymore without it being some sort of flashback episode, and it can't involve Noctis and co. because now they canonically never visit the city proper.
So what would the "fall of Tenebrae" even be, since it seemingly can't actually involve any of the game's named or major characters.

All those assets created, according to the trailers, and it's basically useless now because the party was, presumably, meant to visit before the place is ruined, but that's been made chronologically impossible.

I also theorize that Lunafreya's death was originally meant to happen in the "field of flowers" in Tenebrae we see in a couple cutscenes.
I imagine she was meant to travel with the party for a bit after the Leviathan setpiece, and then be killed in Tenebrae, which is why her death CGI is so obviously visually themed after the flower field, and a handful of cutscenes after her passing feel like weirdly rushed placeholders, missing music and seemingly directed for a lack of voice acting.
But... With Tenebrae cut as an entire location, we ended up with the awkward "Ardyn's decided to stab you now, for funzies" version we got.

Eh, I'll disagree. It was certainly playable and had a beginning, middle, and end, but there were clearly missing gaps in the story, several features felt undercooked, and technical issues still persist in the game months and months and months after release.

It's a game that you could certainly play and enjoy, but one that felt like it needed quite a bit more time in the oven to iron out many glaring issues.

This. 100%.

If we hold this opinion, why are we automatically cynical and jaded? To me, it's painfully obvious how undercooked the game was at release, and it's equally painful to look at that poll list now, which looks more like a list of cut content than anything else. The gaps in this game are so palpable.

Keep adding, all of it please. Can't wait for the PC release with all this stuff. 🤤 Holding off on replaying through the story until then.
