Times when your gaming predictions were completely wrong.

I thought the Wii U was going to ba a success, the next Zelda game would have a more realistic art style and Doom would be terrible. Also I thought that The Last Guardian would never come out and the Vita would get major third party support.

I thought Mother 3 would be localized in markets outside Japan.

I still do. It's happening, I can feel it!

Every year Japan Studo logo comes up at E3 I think 'this HAS to be Ape Escape'....it never is though....it never is

Also I was weirdly off think Nintendo Directs post Switch would show a 'new side of Nintendo software' but they kept it business as usual for most of it. Weird coming off breath of the wild and switch being this radical change for Nintendo and then they basically keep the flow of software the same.

"Xbox One will still get all of the third-party games, third-party devs have no reason to be PS4-exclusive."

And then this one-two combo only fits the thread tangentially, with mobile games being a subset of mobile apps:
> "What is this Android thing and why are they trying to enter the market? They'll never catch iOS."
> "Windows Phone will take off like Android did!"

:(

There was a time when I was sure Valve would finally announce HL3/Ep.3.

Now I'll be surprised when they announce a new big game at all.

When the Disney logo appeared at Sony's E3 2013 event, I stayed strong. When the scenes of the previous Kingdom Hearts games flitted across the screen, I nodded to myself. "Just another remix. Its just 2.5" I smirked at the hopeless naiveté of the others in the thread posting "KH3?????"

and then the logo dropped

and I've never been more happy to be completely wrong.

i dont know why i allowed myself to believe nintendo was going to have like six wii u ports ready for the switch launch

Due to internet negativity, I thought the Vita would be dead in a year or so and started collecting for it thinking I would have a small collection of games somewhere between Virtual Boy and Dreamcast size. It never stopped and refused to die.

I thought the state-of-the-art PSP was going to steamroll the weaksauce DS and cause Nintendo to give up making handhelds (I was still on my specs > gameplay phase at the time.)

It took me like a full 2 to 3 years of denial to realize the DS was a monster of epic proportions.

Edit: to be fair to me, I still think the DS's launch lineup was weak af. The one game I thought was good, which was Mario 64 DS, sucked to control IMO.

Vita means life after all

More recently, I was convinced that the Switch was going to have a rocky first year post-launch after the January presentation. I wasn't convinced that it was going to fail but I really had trouble seeing it catch much media attention; the issues with its pricing were just ridiculous and 1-2 Switch seemed tone deaf. Luckily this seems to not be the case so far, probably because Zelda absolutely is one of those once-in-a-generation games that can sell a console to a mainstream audience.

"They're making a Rayman 4! After the last three, the next entry is bound to be amazing."

To this day, I never hear the end of this. Especially after recent events...

Ask me about the moon landing or the temperature at which jet fuel burns. You may be surprised at what you learn.
After the January reveal I thought the Switch would struggle.

I thought the DS would be a flop given how successful the GBA was.

I thought the Wii would be failure.

So far the only big call I got wrong was Zen being in Scorpio.

Other than that I've been mostly on point. Particularly as one of the original members of #teamhybrid with the Switch before it was revealed.

I thought the Wii would get some impressive third party support after it started selling like crazy. It got third party support, but it was obvious that companies were betting the farm on HD and that system sales didn't matter in the end. It was a good lesson to learn and something people need to keep in mind about the NS as well. Even if it sells gangbusters, that doesn't mean it'll publisher's biggest games. High console sales doesn't guarantee anything.

After seeing his trophy is Smash, I thought Rayman was a prime candidate for one of the DLC characters.

There are millions of whiny 5-year olds on Earth, and I AM THEIR KING.
I used a Windows Phone for years because of the Xbox Live integration.

The platform never took off.

I thought the Wii U was going to do well with the 3DS tanking thanks to the terrible start.
I was a bit off
I was also pretty sure Zelda was going to make its 30th anniversary and wouldn't get delayed a whole year. It at least came out in early 2017.
Thought Vita TV was the end of 3DS. Seemed super appealing for the low price.
Also thought the 2DS was going to be massive. Took awhile for it to be decently big but it didn't do as well as I thought.

To be fair, you did eventually get a Rayman 4 and a Rayman 5 and they were both great games.

I really thought the Wii was gonna sell like shit...Still eating crow to this day.

Also though the Vita was going to give the 3DS a battle....still love it but damn was I wrong,

After the January reveal I thought the Switch would struggle.

Same. I thought Nintendo had shot themselves in the foot.

Other wrong shit I have said:
- Current gen wont offer a big boost in visuals if the consoles arent loss leadera
- The DS will never sell
- The Vita would sell around half as much as the 3DS and get decent 3rd party support
- Online passes will stay a staple of the gaming industry
- Sexist trolls are a small enough segment of the gaming community to safely ignore
