Monster Hunter XX coming to Switch

Is the games portability a big reason its popular in Japan? I imagine that being a big deterrent for a PS4 only version.
Hell, if I had a choice between Switch and PS4, Id go Switch just because its portable.

If the 4chan rumor turns out to be true, maybe MHX will be the Switch series while the numbered MH games end up on PS4 (& maybe XB1).

Though honestly, I hope the numbered games are Switch/PS4.

Switch and PS4 would be ideal if the series were to go multiplatform. If they went exclusive to PS4, they'd only kill themselves and lose a good portion of their audience in Japan.

The PS4 port begging is honestly fucking annoying. People pay all that money for a console they should know what to expect on that console

It sucks seeing a franchise like that being held back by hardware that was laughable at time of release in 2012. Naturally, I'd imagine MoHun would do well on portables, PS4 and PC. Don't really understand why they're not doing it since those assets look great when you emulate at higher resolutions.

They better have a small gap between the JP and NA dates. Otherwise, I'm just getting the JP version. Fuck year long delays. It's Monster Hunter, not a god damn story heavy JRPG.

It probably would come faster if Capcom published MH abroad. Usually they leave it to Nintendo

Wish some of the port begging police spent some time in the Persona thread lol. Get over it folks.

I haven't been in the monster hunter scene for quite some time, is xx a new game?

You know you can do co-op on all modern platforms, lol.

You understand that MH was built around in person co-op and word of mouth? I hadn't realized the PS4 was portable.

Also didn't realize cross platform co-op was a thing between Nintendo and Sony.

YES

MH wasn't this popular until it came out on PSP

Just had a look through the thread, and I don't see this wide spread PS4 port begging that you and the post you quoted suggest. I just see people speculating that MH will turn up on PS4 in some shape or form as well. Not exactly that much of a stretch. Also find it kind of rich that Switch fans are complaining about port begging, but I digress. Let's just enjoy this announcement and sleep well in the knowledge that actually, Capcom is (obviously) making more games for Switch.

In his defense, the fabled PS4 Monster Hunter with crazy graphics and all that stuff, is basically brought up in every single thread related to Monster Hunter. And then we debate about if it's possible and how much Capcom should fuck with things to get people in the West to buy more copies.

Capcom does publish Monster Hunter themselves in the US. That being said, Nintendo does a lot for them, like picking up the advertising tab and going even further than that, like hosting the servers for the Wii U version of MH3U.

More confident than ever, tbh. If its designed for the Switch first, there's literally no reason not to put it on the PS4 as well. Double up on sales and move the thing on two systems at once.

Except Nintendo has helped push MH in the west for the entire span of 3DS' life. Not saying it can't happen but it would be a pretty big risk at this point.

I hope we get that HD Rumble. Getting haptic feedback when charging great swords, mining ores, or getting hip-checked would be amazin'.

Nintendo only helps with marketing. Capcom still publishes Monster Hunter in the west.

Really now? I was under the impression that it was Nintendo. Thanks for the clarification.

But yeah, it would be nice if they had a worldwide release with this title. Highly unlikely though

Exactly. If it's true then it will also be on Switch. Possibly PC.

I don't think switch is going to get a port of the monster hunter PS4. Not at least for a while.

While switch gets xx, PS4 will get next open world monster hunter game. Will it be titled MH5? Not sure maybe it will be a spin-off title.

Switch port could come later of MHps4 just like dragon quest 11

There is still a sizable Monster Hunter audience that play online co-op especially in the west. And If Capcom wants to grow the franchise in the west they have to utilize that. Porting the game to multiple systems is not going to shrink the user base.

EDIT: Fighting games were built on in-person pvp in arcades. But now it's on consoles and most of the audience enjoys the game online. Just because a game is popular in one format doesn't mean it can''t grow in other formats.

No problem, you learn something new everyday.

I think that they do publish them in Europe, but Capcom has such a tiny presence in that region that it's practically a necessity.

HOLY HELL! And I was just spending a good few small posts about how it was unlikely how we were going to see anything with Monster Hunter (besides stories) at E3! But this?! We might actually get a big reveal at E3 this year if Capcom decided to spring this on us a few weeks before E3!

I'm am honestly speechless right now that I'm glad I'm just typing rather than trying to use words! If we were ever going to get that confirmation on MHXX for the West, this is most likely going to be it! (not to mention that we might see that same situation as in MH3U where you can transfer saves from the home console to the handheld, which could mean that we may or may not get it on the 3DS, but the Switch is definitely on the table now!)

Suddenly, I'm hyped as all hell for what E3 might actually give us if we see this there! LET'S GO!

((Apologies for the slight fanboying))

Heh while switch gets a port PS4 is going to get a real monster hunter HD game
People are shitting on you, but honestly I don't think what you are saying is that crazy (altho the "real MH" part of your comment was dumb.) I do think it's more likely that MH5 will come to both platforms, but I won't be too shocked if PS4 gets it first.

You're speaking rather...definitively.

Hmm.
