Nintendo switch UK price £279.99

Sounds about right, just means that it's entered their system and it's scheduled to be repaired so hopefully it won't be long. It might be with you by Saturday?

Mine arrived at home this morning via DPD but still at work unfortunately.

Anywhere in the UK I can get the RDS/Bigben travel case? Seems to universally be the best case in the US thread. ShopTo were supposed to be getting it next week but it's sold out now and Amazon only has third party sellers with inflated prices.

So is it safe to buy a second set of joycons and is there anything to look out for in terms of knowing whether a set will have connectivity issues?

I want to send my left joycon in to get the foam job done but I also want a second pair so that I can play Mario Kart with my son. I figured I may as well buy a new pair that I can use whilst my originals are in for repair.

My only concern is whether the second pair that I buy will exhibit the same problem.

I spoke to Shopto this morning as the pre-order was originally dated for tomorrow, now it's next Friday. I was going to suggest you pre-order from there but it looks like you've just missed out. Haven't seen it anywhere else unfortunately.

My boyfriends rabbit ate his Switch power cable. 😥 And I see the official one is £25-30
Is there a cheap alt that will work without repurcussions?

Only just got to test run the returned Joycons this weekend. The left is perfect, however it's clear they haven't even touched the right stick that keeps clicking when you press it right.

My order from Very turned up 3 days after I ordered, despite estimated shipping date being 28th May. Couldnt be happier tbh, considering the 20% off!

Coming up to a week without the Switch after sending the console and joycons off for repair. Most of the activity came yesterday. The left Joycon has been replaced (new serial number) and the right has been repaired. I thought it may be on the way back today as the console wasn't updated, but this morning it says "Repair held - awaiting parts".

A quick Google suggests that they may be replacing the console but in the past few months they've been pretty slow at getting replacement consoles in- even though it's sitting in stock on the Nintendo Store. Biggest worry is if they'll put the save data onto the new one if it is a replacement. There seems to be more people than not that have had their data restored but it still scares the shit out of me- potentially losing up to 200 hours of gameplay between 4 games.

Are people still experiencing connectivity issues with the left Joy-con?

I got my brand new Neon Switch last sunday and the left joy-con was unresponsive every now and then. I expected Nintendo had this fixed months ago.

No big deal anyway, I fixed it with a little conductive foam in 5 minutes!

I totally love this console!

Took me around 5 weeks to get my faulty joycon back, the L button stopped working on mine

They've already sent the Joycons back today, but they're now "Awaiting parts" for the console. I had sent the joycons in after launch with the syncing problems, but I've been having massive problems with them in handheld mode- it just keeps losing connection and the right one wouldn't detect that it was connected so it became unusable.

Is there anyone that sent their console in? Did they manage to save you save files?

Anyone here using PowerSaves for Amiibo? Just wondering how popular they are, especially with BotW holding a lot of content behind the Zelda Series Amiibos.

Which content is hold behind amiibo in BotW? I can only think of the Wolf that is only unlockable with an amiibo and the dumb Wolf is no fun anyway only annoying after 5 minutes.

Or is this again only some kind of advertising for this "cheating" device?

I ended up getting powersaves ages ago - now have all the Mii costumes on MK8D, a couple of amazing Swords in Zelda and various other bits and pieces that I otherwise would have had to shell out for.

5 fucking weeks I've been without the Switch now. I've been calling the Nintendo customer service number fairly regularly, getting contradictory messages back and other general disinterested conversations (seriously their customer service is terrible).

Last Friday I was finally told that they were awaiting a backplate and that it would be with them this week. After calling today, I was told that there's no way of knowing when the parts will be in. So they've also lied to me at this point.

Is there anything I should be doing at this point? Citizen's advice or anything? I'm completely at my wits end with them. Any normal company I would have just bought a new one and told them to refund the money. But as this is Nintendo and I'm unable to a back up my saves- I'm pretty stuck.

Apologies if there is more to this, but surely the best thing to do is return to retailer for refund or swap under the Consumer Rights Act (previously called Sale of Goods Act)?

I usually hear positive things about Nintendo customer support so that's disappointing to hear. I am guessing you sent it off for repair? I would suggest working on paper to avoid getting low level customer service agents and keeping a log of your interactions.

If Nintendo does not have the parts there's very little they can do besides refund you. They seem to be at Nintendo Japan's behest when it comes to this stuff.

May be worth researching your rights when it comes to repairs, and if there is any reasonable time frame Nintendo has to act in. You could cite these rights, or go through citizens advice yeah. But I would leave CA until a last resort tbh. They're usually pretty busy helping people who have lost a lot more.

Retailer won't transfer saves because Nintendo didn't bother to implement that feature yet. I don't know if you put 100 hours into Zelda or something but I'd probably just cut my losses and take the refund after another few weeks.

I bought it from Nintendo directly. Only thing with that is that I'd lose over 200 hours of save files.

Wow, that is totally unacceptable. Have you "let them have it" over the phone? Don't be afraid to make a big stink with a customer service rep. Sometimes it's necessary to be an asshole to get shit done.

I mean... I'd rather lose 200 hours of save files than 200 hours of future game time. If they've had your unit for 5 weeks, that's 840 hours.

If you spend 1/10th of your time playing games, that's potentially 84 hours lost on your Switch. Personally, I wouldn't let save files stop me from demanding a replacement unit.

I pretty much bought it over the phone to the supervisor and made him aware of how useless the staff were. Usually I'd agree, but as a parent it'd be really difficult to go back and start again with everything, though at this point in time I really am beginning to wonder.

Funny what you can achieve by giving people an ultimatum.

Rang again to say if there's no update today then I want a refund with immediate effect and would be consulting Trading Standards as today is 4 weeks since they've had my Switch. In the past they've said they can only leave messages with the repair team, replies take 3 working days but after being on hold for 5 minutes, she came back with a reply saying her manager had called them and I managed to get this in writing.

As discussed over the phone, we have contacted our Repair Centre and we have been informed that the necessary stock/parts that will enable our engineers to complete your repair is due to arrive in 5-10 working days.

It's still shit but at least I have a timeframe now, as well as it being prioritized. Should it pass 10 days, hell with hath no fury for those useless fuckers.

I've been on the wrong end of Nintendo Customer Service before, and no quoting of consumer rights did me any good. In the end I took them to the small claims court (Google it, it's really easy to do) They immediately backed down and I got an apology from their legal team, and a full recompense (got to keep both console and a full cash refund). Seriously, if you have hit a brick wall and you're happy you're in the right, do it.

Now I've got a written response saying 5-10 days I'm relatively happy that I've got a time frame. But if they fail to meet this, shit will go down.

Very tempted to jump in the £255 Tesco price. I am planning to purchase one this season anyway, so I might as well go for it now I think.
