Capcom thinking out Switch support, talks about Capcom's future and IP revivals

No, he's right. And it's not just P5. Every game topic now gets a Switch port beg post every time. It's really fucking annoying tbh.

People want to play games on the system and if they don't say anything then no one will know. At least devs who read this forum know there's some demand for NS games. This would be true for any platform. Though, I think it's against the rules to port beg here if the platforms are known, right?

Last week I was talking with a friend about the state of some old japanese game publishers, we were talking about Konami and Capcom and how bad they became after the glorious 16/32 bit era.

He said that Konami is really a shame now, but I think that Capcom is much worse, at least Konami has Yu-Gi-Oh, gym club, they became more a 360 degrees company; Capcom is just making videogames and every brand is doing worst and worst.
And after reading their statement I don't change my mind.

I won't be surprised if they will be bought by someone else in the next years, especially if MH will keep going its sales down

Seriously. Nintendo makes hardware revisions and addons for Capcom. It looks like a damn one way exchange a lot of the time.

Hell considering this about USF2 how about the fact it was featured in Nintendo's superbowl trailer, is included in NCL's recent ad and is being distributed by NOE in Europe?

Oh Capcom. You used to be one of my favorite developers but then you rebooted Devil May Cry when no one asked for it and you released street fighter 5 with less modes than games that came out in the 90s. DMC wasn't a bad game (it was actually good), its just that no one thought Devil May Cry had to be rebooted. And even when you rebooted it, you outsourced it to another studio. Resident Evil 7 was a great step in the right direction and MVC looks good but for me, I need DMC5 at E3 and a good "Not a Hero" DLC for RE 7 and then i can start overlooking Capcom's pretty big blunders.

I just think people shouldn't buy consoles for unannounced games. Can't be upset you aren't getting games that were never promised to come to your console.

Capcom to release Switch games in France only.

that is silly even for France smh

I am skipping Street Fighter

I want Monster Hunter Switch for Capcom to get my money

-facepalm- some of these statements are really weird and not self aware at all. Like if sales are disappointing maybe you should start looking at why, and not what you think is the reason. Weirdly inflated sales expectations, not really taking the audience feedback into consideration, banking support on old titles/barely enhanced ports.

I mean lets face it we all love some Capcom but dang this company has been making it difficult the last few years. I keep hope alive they can do better but dang they need to get it together. The lack of introspection for their own home market needs to be better.

Also the realities of e-sports in Japan is the best statement. Unless its picked up by some big group its always gonna be small scale and sadly (my own controversial opinion, hold the rest of the scene back)

They aren't buying the console for unannounced games, but they are interested in playing future games the way they want.

I own great PC, PS4 Pro and Switch, and given the choice I'd pick a Switch version of most games despite the loss in visual quality. It's the first Nintendo hardware in a while that I actually like (as opposed to just liking the software)

On topic, Nintendo actually adjusted the systems memory for Capcom did they not? I highly doubt that was just for a SF2 port. It's probably best not to read much into the translation.

This is some rediculous bullshit, I mean a port of SF4 or even Maximo, Strider, Bionic Commando Rearmed or DMC would of been a better canary in the cave than the GOD FUCKING AWFUL version of street fighter we're about to get crammed down our gullets. Capcom...what the hell happened to you?

The Monster Hunter news is great, especially for those who love or are interested in the series. It's nice that Capcom's expanding their support.

If the MHXX game turns out to be great, then I hope that Capcom shows similar respect to any further Street Fighter games for Switch.

With what? Sony likely won't let SFV hit the Switch, & I think Sony also has current-gen console exclusivity over USFIV (correct me if I'm wrong). I suppose there's always SFIII & the Alpha games, or maybe a complete redo of SFI.

My argument there would be that AAA Japanese development is largely dead and those are a a tiny minority of releases. Even a recent success story like Persona 5 is something that would both be technically feasible and almost certainly have an audience on Switch.

I do find it kind of funny that after years of making Musou games that can run on Vita Koei Tecmo decide to make a big budget PS4 exclusive right around the time Nintendo releases a new handheld perfectly capable of running the games.

Doesn't Altus have something where mainline Persona is PS-only and Etrian Odyssey is Nintendo-only? I thought I remembered reading some discussion about that a couple years ago. I guess it could have been speculation. Obviously that doesn't matter for spinoffs as P4A and PQ demonstrate. Also, are you tinfoil hatting with the spoiler?

Yeah I mean the latter. Good versions of these classics with all the content and a reasonable price this time around. That would be respectful and fair. I hope there's no repeat of something like the release of USF2.

How about a Mega Man 11 thanks.

This reminds me, has there been any news whatsoever on the new Mega Man game they said they'd make? Is that even what they said? I have a die-hard Mega Man franchise friend and I remember him saying something to that effect a year or two ago. I dunno.

And you are still here being a condescending douche. People reacted this because Capcom did something similar before with Darkstalkers. "Buy our old game or you don't get a proper sequel".
Capcom never followed up with an traditional RE on wii after RE4 wii sold well lol.

Too bad they couldnt get Dragons Dogma or MvCI in return.
Judging by MvCI's producer's reaction to the question of a Switch version, that team seems like they don't give a flying fuck about the Switch. Dragon's Dogma on the other hand is a weird omission.

Bigger game incoming this year that is not MHXX?

https://twitter.com/mochi_wsj/status/867923706009407488

they must want to sell more RE7 can't think of anything bigger than MonHun besides that

Read the tweet again. "Capcom PR confirmed Monster Hunter XX for Switch is different from unannounced big IP scheduled in this fiscal year."

So the unannounced major title that we found out about 2-3 weeks ago is not Monster Hunter XX. There's nothing there about it being a bigger IP.

And it's gonna be Devil May Cry 5. Or possibly Resident Evil 2 Remake or Revelations 3.

But no, it's DMC5.

Its endless bitching though Switch this Switch that why can't we just be happy Nintendo is doing well because its not and never going to be a portable PS4/ONE

I'd be totally down for Third Strike: Online Edition to come to the Switch or for an Alpha Collection (from Iron Galaxy) to be a thing.
