[RUMOR] Marvel vs Capcom Infinite roster leaked

Capcom could've added Nilin to the game. You know, the colored female character from one of their latest new IPs. But no, instead they wanted to have multiply reps from their niche series.

I still don't fucking understand why both Arthur & Firebrand and in this game. To a lesser extent Nemesis. Replace Nemesis, Firebrand, & Arthur with Wesker, Phoenix Wright, & Vergil and this roster would look MUCH better.

I fully expect by the time the entire Season Pass 1 is revealed a lot of comments are going to be "This should've been the base roster"

Going by the rumors from interviews it'd probably look something like this.

Female Capcom Rep
Sigma
Asura

Doc Ock
Black Panther
Female Marvel Rep

Doc Ock and Asura were heavily hinted at with the whole 6 arms thing. The. There were female characters that were discussed and changed topics on. Then black Panther just seems like a logical thing.

I don't really agree. The problems I have and most seem to have are lack of total # of characters, lack of completely new characters, and a lack of diversity. Those 3 don't fix any of that

Yeah SF4, SSF4, and the original MVC3 were definitely the last Capcom fighters to not get too much shit. After that it was "why are we getting another edition of SF4 and we can't just update (they at least fixed this somewhat with USF4".

Then there was the "Why is UMVC3 coming out so soon and only at retail?" "Where is the patch for this". Though to be fair to that, the Tsunami was a big player in that.

But yeah after that it's been quite the road looking at SFV and SFxT

And Tatsunoko VS Capcom. They actually pulled it off after years of being cagey due to license issues, only lost one character, and made up for it with 5 new ones. The whole release was a miracle and they handled it amazingly.

Then barely over a year later everything went downhill.

I thought that was because the license for Capcom to use Marvel characters was about to run out.

IIRC it was also because if they released it in 2012 it would've conflicted with SFXTK... and I guess they didn't want to delay that. There might've been pressure from marvel but I wouldn't know that. Which is silly, because things would have worked out so much better if they released it to tie in with Avengers.

I'm usually of the opinion DLC are planned out far in advance, but in this case with the game originally being touted as "late 2017", the surprisingly early September release, and the DLC being out by year's end it really does feel like they had to cut them out to get the early release. Really feels like 6 newcomers could have had a big difference in the initial reaction to the base roster too.

Yup. Been saying it since the release date announcement, but the September release date screams of shareholder pressure to get it rushed out at all costs. This game does not need to be releasing this year.

To think Firebrand, Arthur and Nemesis could've been replaced with Vergil, Zero and Wesker and some would have complained less.

But of course, no one's going to buy GnG DLC, but selling Wesker, Zero and Vergil as DLC guarantees sales. It's so transparent but oh so stupid. It seems the only lesson they learnt from SFV was 'We can make a cheap game with low sales at launch and make our money over time by nickel and diming the 10k players for DLC'.

Fuck you doing with my favorite franchise Cpacpom?

It makes the launch roster less shitty for people who are looking to main their previous characters.
I used to main
Haggar/Chris/Doom
Trish/Hawkeye/Doom
Spiderman/Hawkeye/Doom
and 3 of my characters have been removed.

I can always run Spiderman/Hawkeye but Spiderman's going to be butchered and be made into an ez mode low tier character, and with no assists I can't make him go crazy like in 3, so I'm not buying this at launch

Ahh yeah forgot about TvC, outside the Wii only release (which was understandable considering its arcade board roots were based off a Wii). That didn't have any sort of bad blood either. As you said most were amazing they even managed to pull it off.

I'm fairly confident that 3 of the six you named will be in the first wave of dlc, unless they were lying in their interviews and yes that would have made the initial roster much better. Side note I'm going to break Thanos in the lab.

Those 3 make the roster look better but I see your point though. At minimum this game should have 30 characters at launch with 8 of them being women and a few characters with different nationalities. It's as if since Capcom couldn't use X-Men they were lost.

Remember me broke 1 million in sales and wouldn't be an odd franchise to rep. Especially when Spencer is still in with the same criteria basically (though he does at least have a legacy backing him).

State of Capcom right now:

Street Fighter: SFV super duper under performed.

Dead Rising: Managed to under perform even more than SFV.

Resident Evil: On a downtrend since RE5, RE7 didn't meet sales target.

Monster Hunter: MHXX didn't meet sales target by small amount and Japanese non phone gaming audience shrinking. Capcom is in the business of making a MH for the West which might be a huge success or a colossal flop.

Devil May Cry: DmC happened but Capcom bounced back with the Special editions which have at least performed better than expected in the case of 4SE. DMC5 incoming to restore faith with the fanbase again.

VS series: Marvel 3 performed on par with sales expectations... Marvel Infinite is what it is.

Everything else Capcom has is either dead or too niche worth talking about.

Capcom has to knock it out of the park with either DMC5 or MH5... or they have screwed the pooch with ALL of their major franchises.

nintendo should really think about buying them out

they'd probably make their money back in a year thanks to monster hunter software + hardware sales alone

You'd think capcom would want some brand synergy with all their shit. (Though I guess they barely put any games out anyway lol) At least the Marvel side makes sense.

Capcom could have at least went with 36 character like vanilla MVC3.

4 more for Marvel:
Vulture
Yondu
Black Widow
Scarlet Witch

4 more for Capcom:
Samanosuke
Roll.exe
Asura
Ada

At least you guys got 4 females.

Where the melanin characters at?

It has to be the black version of Spencer they are using right.

Sorry I must have blanked out and not noticed all those super successful Bionic Commando games that have been coming out between MVC and now.

We're talking specifically about one of the designers keeping a character in because he personally likes him rather than the roster as a whole right now. Interesting how you try putting words in my mouth though, I don't think that putting any of those Clover characters are a good idea unless they have an indication that the fans want them, and if we're just talking about personal preference I'd much rather have Spencer than any of them.

If Peter is going to make decisions based on his own personal preferences, that's on him. Maybe the other posters were wrong and there was some data they had that indicated he was popular or maybe they felt that he was needed in the roster, but if he just put him in because that's what he wanted it's pretty unprofessional.

If you want to talk about the overall I've said in other posts that I don't think sticking with mainstream MCU picks are a bad idea, I just think they ended up with a lot of boring ones.

Hopefully it ends up being more interesting than it currently looks, I'd much rather have this game be enjoyable and successful than a failure.

Is Combofiend even a designer he was a glorified PR guy at first I doubt he has that much pull (No Offense). Judging by how they chose characters in the past, the director sends a list to Marvel and they have their own list they go through and see what character would fit and isn't too similar to others. If you look at the current character roster it looks like a straight up business guy sat down and chose them on the Marvel Side. The Capcom side varies cause they don't have more big franchises anymore and looks like they wanted to limit because if not they should have added The Monster Hunter Cats, those would bring in more sales than Pheonix, Asura or Ami.

Honestly, I'll be surprised if they survive this gen.

and I love marvel 2

but marvel 3 is like a fucking dream come true for a marvel fan

And those cinematic videos?
and those HYPEEE AS FUARKKKK dev panels?

Leading up to launch of MVC3 and Ultimate was the best thing ever. I still remember that night before Vergil's TGS reveal.

The more I look, the more surprised I am at no SFV rep.

It's fucking baffling. I legit would love to know what the thought process was behind these choices. Cause it doesn't seem to be "Push current/upcoming releases".

It's unfortunate that Capcpom's only answer when we ask these questions is the PR-ass "We had complete freedom to choose any characters we wanted, but in the end the characters that presented the most unique movesets and gameplay got priority."

fucking don't lie to me peter

He's not black, it's just the lighting and dreads that make it look that way. The red hair spencer from rearmed is the same guy in that Bionic Commando by Grin. That game is even a sequel to BC2 on NES

Making a great game and meeting sales expectations are two different things. If they expect DMC5 to do RE number they are fucking crazy.

That is so disappointing nothing will ever beat the Marvel vs Capcom 2 roster, it's a shame it go de listed would love to keep playing it on my Xbox One

Capcom never expects RE numbers for DMC. They expected 2 million for DmC (the series average) but it didn't quite reach that mark. I expect same number for DMC5, around 2 million.

Marvel Infinite is also at 2 million but everyday that milestone seems harder and harder to achieve.

As far as great games go... IMO Capcom's last great game was RE7. It gives me hope that their non FG division is capable of putting out something great again.

DMC hasn't had a game in forever. I don't know if it could pass 1 million. Unless Capcom decides to market the hell out of it.

Whoa he definitely looked black to me in UMVC3. I only got to play Re-armed which was a great game.

DmC which was reviled by a majority of the fanbase still almost made 2 million.

DMC5 if made properly will for sure generate hype and can make 2 million. Just because a game has been absent doesn't mean there isn't interest for it. I mean look at FF15, so long in between games but it still managed to sell after all this time.
