Man who mowed lawn with tornado behind him says he 'was keeping an eye on it.'

He's still completely out of his depth put next to that Russian driver who casually drops his visor to block out a meteor impact explosion.

I went through the Joplin Storm. Absolutely horrifying. Literally subjecting yourself to a lottery of death.

How did it feel? I'd imagined the heightened sense of fear and excitement and the raw energy of it must have been pretty exhilarating.

Closest I've come is walking outside during a heavy thunderstorm with torrential rain. I've never felt anything quite like it.

Only time I got that good of a look at a tornado was when we spotted a waterspout form in the bay we were planning to fish in. We promptly turned the boat around and went fishing somewhere else.

I see it as he only had two options. Go inside and not finish the lawn - only to get bitched at for not mowing the lawn. Or risk your life by mowing the lawn with a tornado at your back so you can get laid tonight.

He's a true hero.

Besides, had the tornado been foolish enough to encroach on his property, this man without fear would have simply; flipped his mower over, activated his turbo switch, and used the counter force of the spinning blade to push it away.

Do tornados move in a predictable manner, or can they change their trajectory unpredictably?

If latter, then I'll do the best to run the fuck away even if it looks like the tornado is moving away.
They can be unpredictable. But this one isn't obscured by rain so you'd still have a good heads up. Often the rain and surrounding storm makes it harder to pinpoint, especially from the ground.
I live in Oklahoma we see stuff like this on the daily in spring.
Yeah, my soccer coach kept us out on the field multiple times with visible tornadoes in the distance when I was in high school. Kept the radio with him to listen for developments but nothing was getting in the way of us losing our first round playoff games.

It's a really great picture, too. If she would have taken it in landscape like a real human being it'd be frame-worthy.

For you.

That's a pretty dumb statement. This is one of the cases where portrait mode actually makes sense to use. The framing of the guy with the tornado in the background is pretty much perfect.

Not to mention you can easily buy a frame in that format.

I'm pretty sure they move unpredictability. At least that's what the movie "Twister" taught me

This sounds like some stubborn dad shit, for sure.

"First she gets on me to mow the lawn, then she wants me to stop because of a tornado. Wish she'd make up her mind."

I'd love to see a tornado IRL one day
Another Oklahoman joining in to say that no you reallllllly don't.

Maybe next time there's an outbreak you can find a stream and watch the storm coverage live. That'd probably be a good substitute. Or maybe watch some May 3 outbreak vids on youtube?

Also, the lawnmower guy is lucky, it's not unheard of for tornadoes to wobble and have their direction change.
