Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 is coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC this August!

So ...will we finally discover what the hidden thing in 9 and 10 are or is that exclusive to the endless modes in those games? Seems like its related to beating several hundred stages or so...

I know, but its the better version and it would be really nice to put in the extra effort so that the definitive version of the game is the one being showcased. But I know its not happening....

I'm actually pretty sure MM8 had better graphics on PS1. Missing extra content is also a thing, but it's not a clear cut here.

As has been pointed out already, 9 and 10 are already on Xbox One, at the low, low price of FREE if you already bought them on 360.

So I can't justify paying $20 for just Mega Man 7 and 8, especially considering that I have the PS1 version of 8 on my Vita already. I'll probably wait on this until it's $5 or less.

Did forgot about that and that is awesome, alas it always bugged me how the versions of 9 and 10 on HD systems seemed to have a blur filter applied to them. Hopefully this'll have more visual options. Also it makes the games available to those without an Xbone.

Just for the sake of curiosity, what makes it better for PS4 than the other available platforms?

I think it's a play on the phrase 'This is perfect for Switch', which was actually originated from Sony's own Vita and the damn Vita fans flooding every game thread saying how this game would be 'Perfect on Vita' because of portability or dat oled or something.

No Digital Eclipse it seems? Weird, I hope this different team is competent.

Anyway, hell yes! I'm a bit disappointed that there's no 3DS or Switch versions because the main draw for me with these is portability, as I already own all these games in one format or two (maybe three!), but hey, can't say no to a physical release of a Mega Man collection in 2017.

Also the main thing I wanted since I read MM9 and 10 would be included was for them to remove those stupid garbage blur filters, and from the trailer and screenshots it seems like they did. Awesome! Finally those pretty games can be played as they were meant to.

And I know everyone and their mother want & Bass, but just like the first collection this is probably emulation (or pseudo-emulation) and the game is only translated in its GBA form, which music aside is objectively inferior, and do you expect them to mess with an old Super Famicom game just for this? Come on.

Anyway, here's hoping this turns out good and X series is next.

This feels a bit like a quick cash-in on on the success of the original Legacy Collection, which honestly should have had 7-10 on it from the beginning.

Capcom is again ignoring the superior Saturn version of Mega Man 8. And 4 games just feels small. More effort could have been done to finally bring the SNES version of Mega Man & Bass over to North America. And perhaps a couple extra games like the two Power Fighters games and Soccer?

It's especially frustrating as the Mega Man collection released two generations ago, while not perfect emulation, was certainly a better value and felt like an actual "collection."

That being said, 9 and 10 getting a physical release, as well as being able to play 7 and 8 (which are both great/underrated games) with better visual fidelity will be nice.

This one I am definitely in for. I passed on the original Legacy Collection just because I have played those first 6 games so many times. These 4 I have barerly played, so I'm pretty excited.

I imagined that was the case, just wanted to see if there was any valid argument. I guess remote play makes sense, but I was thinking the GPD Win should be able to run this game without any issue.

Meh.

At least it'll be $15.99 with GCU.

In for two physical versions (since I doubt PC is getting one)

EDIT - can PS4 users get a platinum this time, Capcom? Pretty please?

You could

I dunno

Show them on Twitter that there is a fanbase willing to buy it?

I don't see power battles on that list. Where's power battles.
They do show them on Twitter. Everytime, everyday, everyone.

Same here, Xbox One version just for collection purposes, the PS4 one will be getting played loads thanks to the challenge mode making a come back (I bloody loved challenge mode in the first game, it was an excellent inclusion).

So predictions wise I'm guessing one or more things will happen with this collection...

Sound issues on one or more games (I have bad memories of the crappy collection for the PS2/Gamecube/Xbox).

Using the inferior Playstation version of 8 instead of the Saturn version (I'm 101% sure this is what Capcom will do).

Some kind of issue with input lag...

I want to be wrong, but I just have a feeling that there will be an issue somewhere to take away from the collection being the definitive versions of these games.

On a more positive not - I'm super happy that 9 and 10 are getting retail releases via this collection with the DLC. I'm big on preserving games so I'm mainly getting this collection for this reason. That and while I'm a bit lukewarm on parts of 7 (mainly just the soundtrack, game speed and Mega Man sprite) and am not a fan of 8 (fuck off Clown Man and shitty gimmicks the stages had) I loved how they took 9 and 10 back to what I enjoyed about the series.

That's not what I said. Try again.

And your response is exactly why I replied to your comment. So my reply stands. Either edit your comment or try again.

They will use the PS1 version of MM8 because it will be the easier of the two to port.

For people asking for Saturn MM8..

Emulating Saturn software IS NOT EASY.

Hence it's rare that any re-release focuses on using the Saturn release. Granted, they could move the content over onto a new version, but effort.

For people asking for MM&B... it's not a numbered version of the franchise. This seems to strictly focus on getting the mainline 1-10 series together. You have a better chance of getting all the GB Rockman World games in one collection than you do seeing MM&B on one of these package deals.

I think X7 was so bad, a lot of people didn't bother with X8, so they never got to know it's actually great.

X8 is not great. It has bad art direction and the stages are mostly bad gimmicks like auto-scrolling and vehicle rides. The voice acting is actually competent for the first time ever in a non-Legends Mega Man game, but I think it's only seen as good relative to the dumpster fires of X6 and X7. Not near the quality of X-X5 for me.

Conceptually, this sounds like a very mediocre release. Only four games doesn't sound very enticing, especially given there is a fair amount of other Classic-era MM games not included, like the aforementioned MM&B, the portable games, and Soccer spinoff. Would had made more sense to have included these four games into the original MMLC from my perspective.

I guess there collection provides some novelty in that it's a retail release for MM9 and MM10, but it doesn't seem to offer much value otherwise.

I'm really sad that Rockman & Forte isn't in this collection. Feels like a big miss. Just take the English translation from the GBA port and copy it over to the Super Famicom game.

Edit: On a positive note, Digital Eclipse now has shown they can use Snes and PSX games in their engine, so how about a Street Fighter Legacy Collection with SF2, SF2T, SSF2, SFA, SFA2, and SFA3?

Hopefully they are good ports. Digital Eclipse worked on MMLC1 didnt they? How was the port quality?

A audio issue still remains where the audio "pops" on certain tracks. Depending on the player its either not noticeable or game breaking. I had no issues with it personally as I only noticed it a couple of times.

Otherwise the port is great in my opinion. No input lag to the controls (I play the games all the time on the original hardware and had no problems in this regard) and the challenge mode was an excellent addition that gave me tons of replay value to a series I've probably played to death!

But is it the Saturn or the PSX version of 8?

This is very important.

(also where's MM&B)

Asking the right questions.

Probably unpopular opinon, but I hope they consider doing a legacy collection of the gameboy games because they're pretty different overall compared to the NES versions.

Not unpopular at all. I was disappointed Mega Man Mania never came out. IV & V are especially great.

X8 is a very good game and doesn't deserve to be mentioned alongside X7 like that.

Agreed, I liked X8 a lot.

I think classic MegaMan games dated pretty badly, so I'm not as excited as some people here are. If Capcom releases a Z/ZX collection though, that would be magnificent.

You shut your mouth.

Capcom did release a Z collection on the DS for what it's worth. A ZX pack would be nice too.

I really enjoyed the last Mega Man collection. However, I have never played the Mega Man games after 6. Are they any better or worse than 1-6? I'm interested in trying this out.

Yeah... This should have also had Mega Man & Bass and Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters.

A real shame Mega Man Mania never came out, which included all the Game Boy games. The only one I own is Mega Man III.

That's because x7-to the last x game is garbage. Even the ones that "aren't that bad" are garbage comparitively.

... There's only one X game after X7, which is X8 -- the game we're discussing, so that's a weird way to put it. :p

No sir, X8 is legitimately great. No, it's not as good as X1-X4, of course, but I actually have no problem putting it equal to or above X5.

There were, I believe, two bad stages, to be fair. The vehicle ones. But all of the 2D stuff? Very good level design and unique differences between characters. Oh, and awesome music (maybe the best final boss track in the series).
