This is the most interested I've been in a AC game since the first. All of this info is exactly where I hoped the game would move. And after the quality lift of Watch Dog 2 I'm really optimistic about Origin. Looking forward to gameplay soon.

Pretty much all of that sounds good to me. Would probably be in day one if they ditched the modern day stuff, it always brings these games down for me.

Not bought an Assassin's Creed for the last few years so I'm pretty chuffed this sounds like a reboot of the series. About time. Can't wait to see it.

'Optimised for Scorpio'. What does this mean? No enhancements for PS4 Pro at all?

Created with the Scorpio in mind rather than being done late. Basically how Horizon was optimized for the Pro.

That and also probably a marketing deal thing where they can't comment on PS4 Pro enhancements. However, it would be a whole new world if companies start paying to keep third party titles from getting enhanced on competitor platforms.

On the other hand, the ruling class and most of the upper class in Ptolemaic Egypt was of Greek/Macedonian origin

There's no need for the slash.

Anyone's who's read a history book knows that the Macedonians were Greeks. The Ptolemies even maintained the Doric-Greek dialect of Macedon despite the spread of Koine.

Eh, some people make a distinction between the two and I didn't want to potentially start a discussion about that or offend anyone or whatever.

Do we find out of the Pyramids were full of grain?

I know you're probably joking but the pyramids were long looted by the time this game takes place, anyway. Although I could imagine that that'll be one historical detail Ubisoft will ignore seeing as they probably want people to find shiny things inside the pyramids :p.

More info while we're here:
-The level cap is 40
-The aim of the story is the journey that inevitably ends up leading to the establishment of the creed.
-Bayek's personality isn't anything like Jacob, Ezio, or Connor, he's a grown man
-Different types of bows include a bow that shoots multiple arrows at once
-Different types of swords include abilities poisoning or setting enemies on fire on contact
-Scorpio version runs at 4K at a stable 30fps
-Unlimited inventory space
-Quests can be activated in different ways and have recommended levels like in the Witcher 3
-Like in Unity you can pursue multiple missions at one time
-There are community features but stuff like co-op isn't explicitly confirmed
-You can make choices like whether or not to kill the final boss in the Gladiator battles
-Weapons types are maces, bows, swords, spears, and more

So at least 1080p and 30fps on Pro, I'm fine whit that.

Nice! might be my first AC game in awhile. The theme has me peaked (egypt).

gave away the keys to the kingdom.
If Scorpio can run at a legitimate native 4K, the Pro should be able to hit 1440p, and the PS4 and probably Xbox One versions could hit 1080p.

I think it'll be 4K by way of Ubi's own checkerboard upscaling technology that it uses in R6 Siege and Watch Dogs 2 as opposed to "full" 4K.

Edit: Actually, some napkin maths: Watch Dogs 2's native resolution is 1800p on the Pro and a bump up to 4K would require a 44% increase in GPU power, which Scorpio does have.

This is such a rich era

Cleopatra, the Ptolemaic civil war, Caesar's civil war/crossing the Rubicon, Caesar's assassination, Pompey, Cicero, Ptolemy, Augustus, Marc Antony, the Second Triumvirate, end of the Roman Republic

No female protagonist :'(

Would've been perfect with the setting

Not buying any AC game until we get a female protagonist again. Huge shame they had to go back like this after the great Syndicate...

And no, a female protag in the soulless and awful "present" shit doesn't count if this is what they are hinting at.

Ubisoft trying to assassinate Lara croft.

I'm stoked it's in Egypt.
I'm just imagining all that sand tech, and sliding down pyramids lol

We don't know if it's "soulless and awful" yet though. Sure the modern day stuff has been rather boring in previous games, but we just don't know what they're exactly they're doing with it in this game yet.

I remember when the first AC3 features were announced and it seemed like the best game ever, then it turned out to be a big pile of shit. I'll take the wait and see approach now.

That shade tho
Lol I meant it more as for the first time in this series they're starting a new character who's already past the age of 30. Typically these games start with an 18-21 year old. Bayek is already a full grown adult by the time the game starts. He's already in his thirties.

So back of the bus as always and forced to play a dude for most of the game and finally being invisible in the marketing of the game.

Come on now, it's not that bad. I think with Origins they're approaching the series differently and it shows. It's why I have a huge amount of hope for the modern day. The recent comics have proven that. I think MD is gonna be massive this time around and I'm sure people will love it.

No mini map is a huge turn off for me. Every open world game should have a mini map with an on/off option in my opinion. I literally hate the compass crap. UGH. Everything else sounds good.

Wasn't Syndicate the last one to come out? And you're boycotting the very next one if it doesn't have a female protagonist?

Strange stuff.

Some info on skill trees
-You can upgrade the eagle to be able to attack enemies like in Far Cry Primal, you can also have abilities that encourage the use of animals in the open world to fuck shit up
-Some abilities include being able to poison dead bodies so that when enemies investigate they get poisoned which can spread throughout a camp
-You do not stop gaining skill points even when at the level cap
-It may be possible to kill the strongest enemies with a single punch depending on how you upgrade Bayek.
Bonus:-The main protagonist has dark skin son!

They regressed and don't offer a choice anymore. They had moved forward and now.... So yes. And I won't buy the next one either if it's only a dude.

Eden.....

Is the mini map really gone or is it just a rumor? Thanks.

interesting that there are also leveled quests. also sounds like it has more of a tieres weapon system with rares? though maybe they are just one offs you find in the world a la scrolls.

hopefully you get to explore the library of alexa dria, they seem to excel at striking, opulent interior spaces.

Mini map was pointless anyway. Just showed a billion open world check-list items.

Depending how the game is designed you probably won't even need one.

Can't remember but did the batman games have mini maps?
