Its a shame the copyright issues don't let them populate the Disney worlds with NPCs.
Wait, is this really a thing? What's the backstory on it?
Come on kairi tutorial!
It would be amazing if nomura pulled another KH2 and had you play as kairi for the first 1-2 hours of KH3

Also, as unlikely as it is to happen, I hope that you one of the drives (one becomes two) is a doppelganger with roxas. So you could have crazy combo stuff like in Devil May Cry Definitive Edition with vergil's doppelganger stuff

It makes sense she's training after all. Much like going thru it with ventus in bbs he was the one that lacked the most skill

She wrote a letter to sora it was acted out at a concert or something

Also lea keeps apologizing to her and says when he looks at her she reminds him of someone(xion)

So Lea is remembering of Xion just like that?

lol Nomura.

Full transcript of the scene:

Nomura said that since this scene happens during the first steps of KH3's story, they didn't have any ingame visuals yet, so they just made the VA read these lines while generic pictures were displayed.

Wow, thanks for that. I remember reading about Lea but didn't know about the time not flowing. Maybe Merlin used a more powerful magic than Stopza? lol

Pretty much he don't care lol hearts and all that.

Merlin low key needs to be on the team probably got a keyblade tucked away in that suitcase

From Famitsu. I expect an interview with Nomura coming up in the next issue with KH3 stuff.

Kairi and lea probably getting smacked around by furniture as we speak

I'm still hoping this replaces his keyblade I like this one better although I know that's an unpopular opinion

that puzzling face
Kairi and Lea are training in a room in which time doesn't flow, like the characters in Dragon Ball Z. It was confirmed in the prologue scene narrated at one of the last Tokyo concerts.

It's actually more or less a permanent fixture at all the concerts now during the Dearly Beloved segment.

Oh shit give Scrooge a key blade too, it'd be sick to learn there were other, more lowkey, keyblade masters
This is exactly what has been turning me off from the series. We need less keyblade weilders. That doesn't stop them from making cool weapons though, like org 13..

I wish they made it clear from that get go that there used to be many Keyblade wielders in the past. I'm more willing to overlook the "too many Keyblades" criticism because of it. It didn't help that the Keyblade was poised as this mystical thing that only select few are able to wield in KH1.

I think that Nomura said in the new Famitsu article that he almost finished editing the next trailer, that it will be longer that the one we got today and that it will mostly have new scenes. Maybe someone can provide a better translation. He discusses other stuff (no KH3 at Sony, Microsoft conferences and making two versions of the same trailer for every fan)

Why is Ansem alive and standing there? Wait, is that gonna take like 3 handheld games to understand?

DDD explains it. It has to deal with Time travel. This entire game is building towards a final clash between 7 "lights" and 13 "darknesses"

Also i think this trailer was what we were supposed to of gotten in the winter and the trailer next month is the "new" trailer. With Nomura saying the trailer next month is longer and will have alot of new scenes backs this theory up as well. Normally around this time int a KH game marketing phase we get a amazing 4-8 min "Story" trailer that reveals the release year

BBS Story trailer

DDD Story trailer
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zlex8ja2eNI
2.8 Story trailer
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4gKAR0uRZZ0

We could very well get a 2018 confirmation next month with the new trailer. Pretty hyped.

Bigger trailer would be good, just hope it's all new footage again like the one from today.

Wait. Wait. WAIT!

Why the fuck are Xemnas and fake Ansem there???

I admit I haven't been up to date since a while, but I used to know KH story by heart.

Any insights?

It's explained in Dream Drop Distance. Just in case, ill spoiler tag it.
Xehanort went through time to gather up different forms of himself to create a new Organization 13 to fight 7 guardians of light in KH3.

So BBS and COM GBA are the only KH games I not only wanted to play when I saw the trailer but also really enjoyed beating.

I am still not sure what it is about those games that worked for me, but not every other KH game. Including this.

Chain of memories had the best story of the entire series. It was just bogged down with the horrible card mechanics.

lol Nomura.

He's not really "remembering" considering he was no idea why his heart reacts everytime he looks at Kairi.

He feels something because memories are closely tied to someone's heart so they never really disappear. This actually happened before in the series when Sora went asleep and the memories of his existence got erased from everyone he knew. However, some people like Kairi still felt like they were forgetting someone important even if they didn't really remember at that time who Sora was

I do agree that the gameplay looked a bit weird.

KH has always been floaty, but this seems to take it a step further, and it's a bit too much. I went back and watched a few 2.5 videos to see if it was just my memory playing tricks on me, since I never played the remasters, even on PS3, but that wasn't the case. II has much better feedback, you can feel the impact through the animations and sounds a lot better than in this video, and the hitboxes look tighter, in this video the moves are so wide, nothing feels like it connects, I went back to check if that punch special move killed more enemies because the feedback was so poor.

Was 0.2 like that as well, or is this just because the game is still early in production?

That's just the Osaka team syndrome. They've been developing most of the games since after 2 and they haven't been able to replicate the original two games feel all too well. 0.2 was a step in the right direction but it's not there yet.

Well, the game is still a year and a half off at this point. They probably haven't gotten to fine tuning the combat yet. For example, the aerial finisher for single targets is kind of buggy and doesn't vaccum/pull sora towards the enemy he's hitting like in the second game. Plus you won't notice the impact of some hits because of the sound mixing in the trailer (the song overpowers most everything else)

What gets me hype is that magic shortcuts seem to have some sort of "page" system. So you can have multiple sets of magic shortcuts. This will make magic a lot easier to use.

you could set 2 shortcut menus in 0.2 this looks to be the same.

Master Xehanort, the big bad of the series (voiced by Leonard Nimoy!) introduced in Birth By Sleep took over the body of one of the heroes in BBS, that's the Xehanort you learn about in KH2.

At the end of Dream Drop Distance a revived Master Xehanort uses his magic to create a new version of organization XIII filled with all versions of himself through time, so Xemnas and Ansem get a spot as they were the Heartless and Nobody of the body he took over

Xigbar and Saix also got in, as Xemnas was revealed to be in the proccess of possessing them too

Yup. I get a little heated replaying kh1 every time Sora is referenced to as "the keyblades chosen".
Kh2 even, actually...

They've pretty much set up Olympus as the tutorial world, Sora set back to level one and being trained by Phil and Herd. Kairi's training is just the cop out excuse to keep her out of the action yet again.

They continue this in DDD too lol. Like after BBS they ruined the key blade then in DDD it's like nah the key blade Sora has is still special I guess.

Hope it's a new world. Either jungle book or toy story. Part of me wants a ghibli world since Disney has worked with them but aware Disney has no actual legal right to use the their creation.

Sora is still special because he's the only one in the series who didn't inherit a Keyblade from someone else. Even Xehanort got his from someone else.

"The Keyblade's Chose One" still fits.

Of course, there's also Lea now but he's also a special case because he gained his Keyblade for the sake of helping out his friends, which was the same reason as Sora.

Well that's irrelevant. I don't know about Kairi but I could totally see a Riku/Mickey world before following Sora and Co.

He got it from riku who got it from terra, so not really.

well this is where it starts to get muddy because I thought they've made it clear that the Kingdom Key specifically is a special keyblade so it isn't terra's keyblade...especially considering Lingering Will is still around with Terra's keyblade...so I don't know how Riku got a keyblade really...then there's Ventus too inside Sora...

I need to stop questioning Nomura.

No?

The Keyblade that was going to be Riku's changed his mind and went to Sora.

Riku being destined to a Keblade results in him eventually getting Way to the Dawn. But the Kingdom Key chose Sora.

The muddy part is that Sora's heart is fused with Ventus' so people seem to think the Kingdom Key chose Sora because of that

In DDD Sora admits that the Keyblade never really chose him, but that he's glad to help to good people it did choose.

He's a pretty swell guy in my books anyway.
That scene with Maleficent and Hades. It's nice to see them in an HD game with a big budget.

I haven't gotten to .2 yet so i didn't realize. There seems to be 3 shortcut menus judging by the amount of dots on the menu

I doubt it has anything to do with it. Agrabah in KH1 is populated with random NPCs once you lock the keyhole.

The biggest issue is to make it work with the actual gameplay. KH has constant enemy spawns, do people really want paniced NPCs running around all the time?

THE issue for me personally are the cutscenes like prince's ball in BBS where there are nobody in there. KH2 also had that infamous Agrabah scene.

Lil touches like having NPC chinese soldiers in KH2 makes all the difference in making the world feel more alive. Just double down on that and for example have a non combat area in Thebes busting with NPCs and random shops. You can have a story scene with it invaded by heartless ect.

Yeah, you're right. It makes sense when you put in that way.
