Nintendo suspiciously dont have a Black Friday week game announced for Switch

With Mario Odyssey coming Oct 27th, that leaves Nov 17th week before Black Friday open.

Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon does come out that day on 3DS but Nintendo still almost every year have one game on that week for both there major systems, and Mario is coming out almost a month before then.

So that leaves Xenoblade 2, which I think will come Dec like XCX since its not a big Black Friday type game

Or theory 1 - Secret announcement of Smash Bros. Deluxe this week
theory 2 - SNES Mini is coming that day

What do you guys think

Nintendo never seems to have good deals for Black Friday if I recall. The only time I remember a good deal from them was when Mario Kart 8 came out and they had it for $35 at Walmart.

Games never come out Black Friday week. Everything else is discounted that week so putting out a full price game is a great way to get ignored

Xenoblade gonna get that marketing push it deserves..
Just kidding but I think there will be another big announcement for Switch to fill that month.

The amount of people that can't read the OP, jesus.

Anyway, I was thinking the same thing. It's very unusual. I don't think they'll slot XBC2 in there, it's just too much of a niche game, but who knows. SNES mini does make sense, though.

SNES Mini probably. As per the norm Nintendo will only make 20 of them and the scalpers will be fucking over the regular Joe who wants one :(

Theory 2 seems very likely.

Only possible if SNES does not use NAND storage imo.

Theory 3: Xenoblade 2 is scheduled for that week.

I believe XBC2 is slated for Winter 2017 in Japan, so that'd be December most likely, and I don't think it'll release later in Japan than in the West.

It could be FE Warriors, though that's not really a major game. They could announce something for that slot (they do Directs throughout the year), but I don't think they necessarily have to have a Switch game releasing on that day, since Mario Odyssey will drive sales hard enough most likely.

I saw I think ggxa2c mention it in a Media Create thread, but he was theorizing that since Mario is Nintendo's biggest game and we all know about the Switch's stock issues, maybe they're launching it early specifically so they can split the insane rush between its release and Black Friday. Would help buy some time to get plenty of stock for the latter event, and hardcore fans get thrown a bone with an earlier release.

They need a Switch game coming out literally just before Black Friday?

They do need a November Switch game but that could easily be Xenoblade 2. Mario Odyssey will be less than a month old. That's enough to have units flying off the shelves for Black Friday.

I'm inclined to think that XC2 will take the November spot. It's better for sales to launch in November than December. I don't see Smash coming this year. SNES Classic is possible, but perhaps a bad idea when they want to be selling as many Switches, and Switch games, as they can during the holidays. Besides that, they are struggling to keep up with Switch production, so another piece of hardware seems like a bad idea. If such a device exists I don't think we will see it till next year or later.

Hopefully they make more than six of them this time

It really doesn't matter how much they make. After the NES Classic hysteria, people even vaguely interested in a SNES Classic will try to get one day 1 to ensure they don't miss out
or to stockpile for when they discontinue it and prices skyrocket.

I think Nintendo will have a game for Switch Black Friday and probably also the whose on Snes Classic for November.

I do wonder if November is reserved for Smash or a possible unannounced third party title that Nintendo will be promoting.

Guys Xenoblade would not be able to survive November. It's probably launching in December.
Edit: Either Smash or Retros game imo. But Smash would be weird since would a port of Msash 4 be a bigger deal than a brand new return to form Mario?

I doubt it's FEW, since that's releasing on Sept 28 in Japan, and I doubt it's going to take more than a couple of weeks for it to release thereafter. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if they're trying now in the final stages of development to get it to being an outright simultaneous launch, as has been the trend for all of the other first party titles.

Doesn't UltraSun/Moon come out the week before? That thing is going to move absurd units and will probably be Nintendo's best selling game this year.

This was my big unanswered question when Mario Odyssey was announced for October. I still think there's a good chance of #1. (though Smash 4 DX could well be announced in August or even September as well)

Switch doesn't need a holiday sale bundle. At the rate things are going, it'll be sold out everywhere until next Fall. I'd imagine at this point they're just trying to figure out how the heck they're going to scrape together 5-6 million systems in time.

While I'm hoping for some secret Switch announcement, I think they did this because Xenoblade simply wont be ready before November and they don't want to release that and Mario at the same time. I'm sure if both games were ready, Xeno would be Oct and Mario Nov.

That rumor was going around that a AAA title would be announced today

Where did this rumor come from? Haven't seen it yet.

Was looking back at the past "Nintendo Day"s and it seems it had a weak 2015 compared to 2014 and 2016; maybe Pokémon is all it needs.

SMO is actually close enough to Black Friday and far enough from Pokemon to make this a wise release schedule.
