Xenoblade 2 confirmed for Holiday 2017

I really hope so. Some of that game looks pretty nice, but the first several minutes of the Treehouse looked abysmal. Especially before they got out into the open area before the town. I get that it's not all about graphics, but bits of it looked significantly worse than X - and X was an incredibly massive and open game.

Yeah. That very first area where they do those first few fights looked bad. That was the worse part of the demo. I started to feel a lot better once they moved forward and you could see the light shining through the trees and they got to the open field. Before they even said anything I figured the graphics were still being worked on because you could see the quality range it ran. I was glad they addressed it up front though. So I hope in the months before release they do a blow out on the game and show off how it looks.

I'm not familiar enough with the game development processes to know how much they can accomplish in terms of visual improvements with around 4 or so months remaining. Also I would've thought they would avoid showing off any portion of the game that didn't exemplify their end vision - but they opened with a really dull combat showcase, terrible environment textures and bland lighting. For a moment I felt like I was watching a preview for a pretty generic PS2 era port.

The trailer has me still excited. Cautiously optimistic~

That Action Start song, holy shit, it's so good!

It's like, an evolution of Confrontation with the Enemy, the song is built around the same frame.

Just watched some of the Treehouse gameplay. Graphics look great, except for the really bad foliage draw distance. I think that's what bothered me about the trailer.

It makes the graphics look really inconsistent and removes me from the game. It reminds me of original, unmodded Skyrim. I really hope they're able to improve that for at least docked mode by the time the game launches.

They did say they are working on optimizing the game on the Treehouse Live.
Unlike past Xenoblade, they are developing the game at the same time as localizing it.

Hopefully with a reworked combat system among the QOL changes that get implimented (come on Nintendo make X a TPS/RPG 90% of the framework is already there)
Forgive my language but, fuck no.

They make waaaaay too big a deal about the
"Hom Hom"
line in particular for that to be just a cameo.

Tatsu LITERALLY looks at the Camera and WINKS.

Thats Monolith soft being cheeky and using tatsu to break the 4th wall

Man, X's battle system was so much fun. I doubt this'll touch it, but I played the original for a bit yesterday and there's just something about its battle system that doesn't vibe with me, so I hope XBX2 is at least better than the original. Seems they've gone in the right direction for some stuff and in the completely wrong with other, so really, I'm gonna have to get to play the game myself before I can tell.

Can't wait for XBX2 lol.

The original game's battle system really only shines once you know about more of its inner workings, its definitely not as fun to go back to after not playing for a while.

Lots of time spent in menus only to see people online spamming Melia's broken ass attacks lol. ( or making ridiculous dunban sets. I personally loved doing skill links between Riki and Shulk, never touched Seven's ridiculous set ups, too much aggro)

Conversely, playing with a Berserker set Reyn is AMAZING fun.

So, anyone think that "Elysium" is gonna have anything to do with either the original Xenoblade or X?

Absolutely nothing will be related.

Interested in who will be the "architect", some deity, an invisible magical force, a software, even some actual living being
Shulk?
... And why this Elysium with that giant "mana" Tree is apparently accessible to anyone with a method of transport... Also curious about the shape of the other Titans and how many are out there. Takahashi said some are beast like and others are more anthropomorphic... I also wonder if there will be some mechanical ones...

I hope there's some legit good twist in this game like the last 2 games.

Think my favorite one is still the one in X

Oh shit I'm a robot? OH SHIT we're all robots!!! EVERYONES A ROBOT!

This is a good sign that it is still coming 2017 yes? Doesn't a game have to be complete in order for it to be rated?

It's a good sign, yes, but it's also not impossible for it to wind up being held back for whatever reason. If it is in a state where a ratings board can see the "worst" a game has to offer to garner a rating, though, then it's pretty safe to say that it's content complete at a minimum. That lines up pretty well with the comments the developers made at E3 about the stage of development that the game was in.

Kind of a mixed bag for me.

I smile every time I see something that looks like a Zohar in these games but that main protags overall look is so dumb. Are they going for a Jr vibe with him looking like a 10 year old. At least Jr had a cowboy style. Not balloon pants.

I really hope they expand upon how your party AI is handled in this game. I really did not care for XCX's terrible party AI that would draw in high level enemies by doing AE attacks. I need a bit of control of my party members or stop making party RPGs. FFXII had the most in depth systems for handling party AI on a fucking PS2.

You have control over the arts they have equipped. In risky environments, remove the AoE arts and the ranged arts which hit anything in a particular direction. You can also tell them to use only melee arts (in the "+" battle menu).

You guys are making me nervous when you bump this thread, like im going to read it and see its been delayed lol
Yep. I clicked on this just knowing the delay would finally happen.

Though I guess if it does, it'll probably be closer to the planned release.

I dont see any reason for them to hold this back if its ready, Mario Odyssey comes out Oct 27th that the last date for first party games on Switch, there is still Nov and Dec.

My favourite part of that is the fact that your character is legit the only person who doesn't know the twist

The way I read it, re Xenoblade naming conventions, is numbered entries will skew fantasy while the X series skews scifi.

Still holding on to hope we get a "Xenoblade X Complete" for switch in late 2018 (what the fuck else are Monster Games doing?) with all the cut content included and a bunch of UI improvements.

Hopefully with a reworked combat system among the QOL changes that get implimented (come on Nintendo make X a TPS/RPG 90% of the framework is already there)

YESSSSS. Auto-attack is gross, get rid of it and take some of the tedium out of the combat. >_<

I'm still betting on a delay, but calm thyself lol. If there was a delay no one would come back to this thread.

I never would have thought that we're getting this kind of game, a full fledged Xenoblade 2, an epic JRPG within the first year of the Switch. If ever, I'd have guessed it to be released somewhere mid gen.
But no, there it is, only a few months to go. That's crazy.

I know there are people doubting it, but this has been on track for a 2017 release. Obviously, anything can happen but I think it shows the improved development tools and pipeline that the Switch has over previous Nintendo consoles. It will be interesting to see how quick some of their teams are able to get their second title out, or how quick some of the smaller "Second Party" teams are able to release a title.

I can't wait to get my hands on Xenoblade 2. I think it releasing in 2017 goes from a very good release schedule to a great release schedule for me. Especially for the first year. Going to be hard to find the time to play all of the games I plan on getting this year.

Edit: To be clear, I initially doubted it too :)
