Yeah kicked out of PvP and can't get back in. That queue is getting bigger. Up to 248 now after 3 attempts.

Edit: Stuck in Fields of Glory by the location.

It's been a day and a half. To call this the "Worst MMO Launch Ever" is laughable.

As I said on the preceding page, this has a good couple of months of being unable to log in before it can best Anarchy Online.

Thats a bit hyperbole my dude. Some stuff is broken but it will get ironed out in the week post official launch.

For sure but the problem is I can't progress. I did all the side quests available but can't get into the new zones since I'm stuck at this MSQ. Not only that but the constant dc's just throw me back into a massive queue

Eh. I've seen some real shitter of launches since the days of EQ but I'd still rank this as a really bad one considering the year and all that's happened before it. It's not even necessarily unforeseeable problems and they had steps to alleviate some of the issues (many of which they did in their prior expansion!) that they could have taken.

90k'd on a queue for a last run of the level 65 dungeon; first problem I've had in a while. Queues were stable last night when everything was exploding.

600 queued to get back in, down to 500, so at least Levi login is still working.

Edit: reconnect into 90k. Maybe my struggle starts here.

God this launch sucks I keep getting dced and I can't even do the main story quests since the first primal is eating people I'm not even gonna bother trying.

I have no prior experience with them, but I'm sure this isn't the worst MMO launch - it's far from completely broken - but it is rather unnecessary bad PR for Square-Enix and dampens the momentum they had built up leading into this. It probably won't kill the game, but it will require a lot of work on their part to regain trust from their subscribers. The best hope at this point is that it sounds like JP and EU servers are mostly working at this point, at least with MSQ instances, so hopefully the US can follow suit before too much more time elapses.

Zenos is the best FF bid bad sense Kuja, and Yosetsu to, fuck me how perfectly evil
I really like him in that (mild spoilers)
he really plays well off the WOL's growing individuality, something we first saw with Haurchefants death. The WOL has always bested every foe they've come across, and you can tell by the animations and cutscenes that our character is freaking PISSED they can't beat this guy. It feels like a very personal rivalry. For once the MC is really starting to feel like their own character rather than just a blank slate problem-solver-man/woman. Can't wait to see the conclusion of the dynamic between the two..

All the times they have given us dialogue choices are great to, specially sense there very consistent in the personality they portray for the WOL

The bad mark for this launch for me (and again I acknowledge I have gotten off incredibly light here, compared to most people) is that the thing that's breaking isn't even new.

They have the diving/surfacing transition, which is a surprisingly smooth and fast transfer between underwater and above water 'zones.' I have no idea how it works on the backend, but that exploding I would totally get. It's new, under full load things they have no experience with happening will happen. It breaking as part of the expansion I would get, and maybe it will when more people get there, but so far it's been super solid.

The part that's breaking is the part we've all been using since 2.0, and that basically lost its shit in exactly this way in 2.0. That they've done constant upgrades and stuff to fix. That breaking just feels weird, and the no answer for it really does make it feel like they weren't at all prepared. but like

why not

I'm stuck on Cold Steel now. I'll probably just go do some other stuff until late tonight and hopefully get in.

On the bright side, there's no way they will let this happen again in 5.0, right?

So I hit level 60 recently and also just capped my poetics. Is there something good to spend some of them on right now? I just bought all of the i255 stuff from the vendor so I'm not sure if the i260 gear is worth it right now.

You will probably never, ever run Void Ark again unless they either add some kind of roulette for 24 man raids or they put relic content in them like they did with the Anima weapons.

Not too worried about that. People told me the same about the old CT raids, but I had zero problem getting into all 3 in the middle of a week at random times back in Feb. Plus, yeah they'll probably have WT/relic content in it.

That being said, yeah at this point (or at least after Matsuno-raid comes out) they need to have a 24-person raid roulette. Maybe it can exclude the latest raid as that is slightly more "hardcore", but the prior stuff isn't any harder or more hardcore than MSQ fights these days and there's zero reason to not have a 24 raid roulette to fill DFs out more quickly. Especially since 24 person raid is the only content you can't just throw up a party finder, get 8 people, and start right away.

Also since the 24 person raids are more fun than dungeons most of the time, if they had a roulette for it I'd definitely do it over dungeon roulette or leveling roulette. Right now I only do trial roulette because I like trials.

I'm not liking the expansion that much, at this point everything feels too formulaic, especially after one expansion.

Zones, types of quests, everything is predictable and a bit dull. that's just my opinion though.

Expansions in other MMOs usually shake things a lot more with new features and mechanics, even if they still are a bit "formulaic" too.

Since I'm stuck at super boss cutscene giver Rauban I'm still really early but I really dislike Lyse so far. It feels like going back to ARR 2.0 generic trope storytelling. Heavensward's writing and tone was so good. Characters like Edmont were excellent. I was running through West Coerthas and taking care of "!" quests for fun last night and I actually felt something about these little quest plots because they were so depressing and the tone of that area was striking. They were all sad short stories. On the other hand I've done all the "!" quests available to this point in Fringes & Peaks and they're all boring and I don't care which is how I felt about ARR content outside Coerthas.

Plus I find the empire zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz and all their goddamn bases look identical. Shit needs a new aesthetic fast. "Like X general controls this area and has a degree in architecture so his base looks radically different", or "this general really likes strawberrys, so this is a fruit-themed base" idk, but give me variety please. I couldn't tell Baesler's Wall apart from the 2.0 final dungeon.

But since I'm still really early, I'm keeping an open mind.

I spammed Raubahn from 1AM to 7AM yesterday and couldn't get in. Just tried some more the last 2 hours and still nothing.

I haven't gotten far obviously (curse you Raubahn), but I have a similar gripe about Lyse. Yda was always my favorite of the scions, in large part because I found her to be a lot of fun. Kinda ditzy but not quite and all that. I'm really hoping she gets more of that back, because as it stands she has become a lot more generic and "main character-y".

I don't have that same problem with the sidequests imo. They're not quite as good as HW, but that's because it's damn hard to beat the 1000 year war, religious craziness, and general bleak outlook of Ishgard. But there's definitely some quests that have nice little stories like the girl with the messed up leg who
had been raped by Garlean soldiers
, and the hellsguard farm and stuff. I love HW so much, that I don't think SB will be able to match up the setting of it, but it'll be a solid second for sure.

Running the 65 dungeon is kind of making me depressed because
almost every group I run with complains about the more unique mechanics, especially the second boss fight. They say they would have just preferred a normal fight. Like, cmon guys, does it really hurt to try something different every once in a while? Does your brain really hurt that much when you have to do something out of the ordinary? And no, it doesn't take longer than a normal fight.

Good lord. And this is from the first primal fight that are getting characters stuck in server hell.

Greetings,

Thank you for reporting this concern. We understand that it's incredibly frustrating to be unable to access your characters during Early Access, and deeply apologize for this inconvenience.

We have confirmed this issue with the development team, and they are putting high priority on continuing to investigate how to resolve this for players.

At this time, it seems that the situation will require a resolution via the client itself (through updating the version). As such, we expect it to take more than several days to resolve this issue, including the time required to create the patch.

However, because this error is not caused by the corruption of local data or due to a PC issue, it is likely that re-installing the game will not resolve this issue.

Again, we deeply apologize for the inconvenience. We'd also like to note that if you continue to attempt to log into the game there is a chance you may be able to log in, so please try again after some time has passed.

That sucks; every single group I've had has loved it. Which is great because I can sit and be like THIS IS SO GREAT and then the new people are like THIS IS SO GREAT and we're all unified in enjoying mechanics and pass/fail and just.

I am worried about the long-term prospects of the dungeon since the second boss is the way it is, but so far every group I've had has enjoyed it for what it is.

The closest we got to complaint was the "final phase of final boss hating casters", which is more funny than complaining I think; I'm going to struggle with not arguing with people hating on the bosses. Because they are just factually wrong.

aHHH

So...

Uhh. I was trying to do the quest and welp it is a very hot day today in Ohio. So as luck would have we had a power surge a moment ago and then the power kicked back on and I was greeted with this:

I

fucking

cannot

I'm just glad that I can rest easy knowing SquareEnix knows these problems will fix themselves and they don't have to stress about fixing them. I'm also glad I won't be getting any free game time cause I'm only actually playing the game to pass time until I get dced again.

Got my rogue to level 29... and have now been unable to log in for the last hour. I just want to get my Ninja tonight S-E. Let me be Naruto dammit. This game was so much more fun the first week I played it. This 2nd week has been miserable sigh.

I knew my luck was going to run out eventually.

Queued for the level 63 dungeon, got in, super long loading screen, error 90002.

Come back in, wait in a queue, error 90002.

Stormblood early access is not even an "MMO launch" lol you guys sound like old people with your vague descriptions

But yeah this sucks, and does remind me of when the game did launch, and how useless ARR's "early access" was. I just wanna progress! At least I can do other stuff this time

Hah here I was levelling my new character in the mid 20s thinking "everyone's getting screwed by this solo duty issue, glad I'm not at max level so I don't have to deal with it!" only to come up to a point in the MSQ where I apparently need to get onto those same servers and am getting the same issue.

Oh well, time to level other jobs or something, cause I'm certainly not trying over and over again for hours just to do a level 25 story quest that I've already done on a different character a year ago.

This isn't even the worst FFXIV launch.

I should hope not! If this had been worse than 1.0, the game would need to be shut down for good this time. Still, Square, and Yoshida in particular as the face of this game, have generated a lot of bad blood towards them and I'm not sure how much of that will blow over whenever the current issues finally subside and how much will end up with long-term consequences for the game's health.

Hit level 50 on warrior and tried to enter the final instance to get my last ability and armor piece... and was greeted by a server disconnect and nice long line to wait to log back into the game with. I didn't know this shit was effecting every individual instance, only thought SB shit was fucked.
