#2 hero in that universe is a child abuser so....

and a wife beater...

seriously, heroes don't undergo psychological tests or are they that desperate...? I'm gonna assume the latter

My Hero Academia

Largely understandable analysis even though I don't really agree with some parts.

Even if all of the cast didn't get enough attention, I do appreciate that it isn't bloated with drama that has little interesting to make them stand out. MHA feels like a story of people from different backgrounds so some might have something deep/traumatic/personal going for them, others, not so much, but it's not that they're not important but more like something you don't have to know in detail to figure out or are just in store for later. In Iida or Uraraka's case, they might be simple but they're not without meaning and depth to them, I don't see why it should be developed/spelled out as much as Shoto/Midoriya who have special circumstances unless they do have something unique/unheard going for them.

My favorite side story was Shinsou's - a different possibility of what Deku would've been if he did have an inherent Quirk, different from what he has. His struggle was quite different in the sense that it wasn't cut out to be a "hero" quirk but he had no choice but to live with it. He still came that far because he simply wanted to be a Hero, a reminder to Deku that he's more blessed/lucky than he actually seems.

I meant fighting villains as in whatever they were doing before this tournament arc, if that clears it up. But yea this Tournament arc other than the Todoroki and Deku fight has been laughably bad as the other poster has surmised through his/her analysis.

I wouldn't call it laughably bad, just... not as flashy. :p

It's crazy the only character not intimidated by The Third is Fukuwara Mask with his goofyass design. Between his advice to Tiger and how he just dismisses The Third, he's got that mentor quality about him I hadn't recognized until now.

Fukuwara Mask is the joke character who is actually the strongest mother fucker there is. Like Dan and Oro combined in the same character, and he doesn't take any shit from Bison.

I think I'm a sucker for this sort of divergent successor/dojo story. Kyoto trip was a nice aside though given how intense the previous eps have been.

oh thank god the world is no longer upside-down. Past eps have just been uncomfortable (in a good way) given the path Naoto had been deadset on.

Bleach Ep 346

The animation for this arc is movie-esque, they must've blew through the animation budget knowing this would be the final arc.

Interesting that Chad shows up with these guys, I am guessing he is part of a blackmail plot to get Ichi.

So now that the season is almost over, are there any other anime besides Attack on Titan and My Hero Academia worth checking out for a pretty new and casual fan?

Holy shit, no kidding.

I want some god damn movie quality animation for the stuff I'm reading atm!!

Baaaaad NDMGG !

This stuff honestly dragged on and on when reading monthly.

Eccentric Family is real good but you'd need to watch first season first.

Shingeki no Bahamut's been pretty weak lately but it's still something that warrants a mention. Again, you'd need first season behind your belt.

Nozaki-kun 08
These people are weird.

Like, really, really weird.

Kinda feel bad for Miss X. I mean she's effectively an antagonist but feels like she's being strung along in some familial affair that extends beyond just business. Takuma and Naoto finally aligning on the same path is something that's been a long time coming too.

Eromanga Sensei Oreimo reference/cameo overload!

The whole gang shows up Kirino, Kuroneko, Saori and Kyosuke. Its an excerpt from the art book after story I called it when the said they were going to Akiba.

Maybe I should watch this...

The best episode of the season by far. Nothing comes close. Anime has been saved.

Oreimo spoiler beyond this
It's where Kuroneko reveals that Kirino's constantly telling her about what she does with Kyousuke. The cat also reveals that Kirino and Kyousuke are still together and Kirino should no longer be considered pure at all thanks to whatever it is that they do together. Other than that, it's the same scene.

Or maybe not.

This Final Wars shit is the best. I keep buying into the show so hard only to get snapped back to reality when the ED starts. lol

All caught up and I hate it because now I have to wait a week. If these past matches are a leadup to the finale and an indicator of its quality, shit gonna be crazy.

edit: aw shit i just hadn't refreshed the CR app so I do have another ep

Really good action animation but it felt like a whole bunch of fanservice I didn't get. Oh well. Gotta show off the gacha!

Is this the end for now?

If you don't mind some of the older series, sure

Action/Story
Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood (which follows the manga closely)

Gurren Lagann (some hot-blooded action, and one of Gainiax's final works before some of the members joined Studio Trigger)

Fate/Zero or Fate/Stay Night (gorgeous looking, plenty of action, hunger-game style where a Servant/Master pair aims to outlast against others vying for the grand prize of the Holy Grail, which is said to grant any wishes)

Comedies

The Devil is a Part-timer (a powerful demon seeking refuge on Earth ended up getting used to the daily routines of humans)

Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki Kun

School Rumble

Daily Lifes of High School Boys

Daily Life scenario

Shirobako (an anime about people making anime. How meta)

Musical

Hibike! Euphonium or also known as Sound Euphonium featuring KyoAni's beautiful animation

Might exceed your expectations

Girls und Panzer (girls and tanks basically, but there might be more underneath that "moe" surface...and this series made some seriously impressive usage of 3DCG animation)

Personal guilty pleasure (aka leave your brain behind and enjoy the ride)

Senki Zesshou Symphogear series. Main characters fight enemies while singing along to OSTs written by the talented Element Gardens group of composers. Features some pretty big name voice actresses but the first season is a bit hard to stomach in terms of animation quality, but visuals etc takes a really big leap and bound on season 2 and beyond. Also, once things can escalate quite a lot to the point when people are known to make reaction images to all of the episodes.

Granblue Fantasy 12

Is this the end for now?

There's 14 total episodes on the announced 7 BD volumes, while the Tokyo MX timeslot gets taken over by Fate/Apocrypha on July 1, so I would guess one more episode next week and then a 14th bonus disc episode.

Inuyasha The Final Act Ep 18

Kagome's thirst in this ep ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Good tie up to her school life in this ep, clears the way for the last 8 eps to take place in the other dimension. Some interesting questions came up of whether she wants spend the rest of her life in the feudal era after Naraku is defeated.

New ending theme in this ep is ridiculously good, probably already in top 3 endings for Inuyasha endings.

That's why keeping up to date with monthly manga is a sin!

They'll certainly have to consolidate some of the stuff for the anime but by just binge reading through all of this I didn't struggle much with the pacing.

Hell, recently I decided it might have to check up on the Prison School manga, surely that garbage arc must've ended by now! Well, it did, but as opposed to 10 out of 50 new chapters it still ran for 40 and turned that pacing made me genuinely hate everything about it.

In comparison to that, the AoT manga just moved at light speed for me.

Yeah I had the same experience. Stopped reading in the middle of that arc because it dragged on and on, then came back binging everything once they got to the basement and suddenly it was fine.

Hand Shakers is an excellent anime that hits the right notes.
Glasslip
Guilty Crown is my favorite anime of all time
Seraph of the End
Free!!
God Eater

Are my suggestions.

In this corner of the world
An excellent movie from start to beginning. A slice of life and coming age story set in Japan before and during war.

The main character, Suzu is a bit of an oddball. She often dream or imagine certain situation bit different than reality, making her an unreliable narrator.

While set during war period, the story is more about Suzu coming of age story instead of war drama. Humor are sprinkeled throughout the show though sometime bordering on dark humor.

Slice of life moment come from Suzu struggling during war period in a very positive way. She try to safe their family ransom and we got shown a montage of her trying out various struggle recipes. It was weirdly charming.

One of the most memorable scene was when the tragedy struck, the director use a very interesting abstract scene to show it to audience. As if he want to convey that the scene that happen is too brutal to be shown.

The use of pencil sketch and painting throughoit the show is an interesting way to paint how Suzu show the world around her. The use of music and the absence of it during several scene is really great and heighten the mood.

The comparison to Barefoot Gen or Grave of the firefly is unavoidable due to movie setting, but unlike those two which end in a very bleak note, this movie is about preservance and to rise again after tragedy struck with the help of those close to you.

Tl;dr i love this movie, and i seriously recommend it

Just finish watching Diebuster just now and like it for what it try to do in the sequel. I didn't expect few things at the last episode and how it try to end it wasn't what I was expecting at all. Either way, I am entertain from watching this OVA even with the high expectation I have after finish Gunbuster. Notice how much this OVA animation remind me a bit of FLCL when watching.

Post-2000 Gainax was basically influenced by FLCL. Abenobashi and Re:Cutie Honey too. Even some episodes of Yushi.

While their 80s and 90s productions have better story and more solid animation,if they didnt have budget issues, last decade their animation became the craziest thing I had ever seen in TV productions.

Just finished Quanzhi Gaoshou (The king's avatar) and really enjoyed all 12 episodes.

Animation was nice, enjoyed the pacing of the story and the humour was great. The variety of characters was also greatly appealing.

I got past the fact that it's a Chinese anime pretty quickly!

Freeza's been so good these past episodes it makes me wish RoF had never happened to take the wind out of it

RoF should have been entirely revamped for the show or removed. As it is, it stands out in Super as being almost entirely disposable. Nothing Frieza does in that arc has any long running story impact, and there's no sense of closure at the end when everything returns to normal at the end. One of the best things about Super is how it's willing to shake up conventions of Dragon Ball in weird unexpected ways, RoF sadly just felt like a weird retread of old Dragon Ball Z tropes.

Dark's new finishing move is amazing.

Gonna miss this show so much when it's done.

Eccentric Family S2 11
tumblr_inline_nfw0jkhtxumk.gif

Liked the ep but are we even going to get anything on Nidaime&Benten this season ? Time is in short supply seems like, with everything that's going on.

2 eccentric 2 family 11

Yeah like phaze above I'm now wondering what was the whole point of giving Nidaime and Benten a back story plus all of these interactions/chemistry if they were ultimately only going to be utilized as rivals with a common tie in sensei.

Aside from that, I think every audience member saw this coming when Kaisei said what she did last episode. Like there wasn't another real explanation unless they
introduced a brand new character and bad guy in the last 2 episodes
.

Looking forward to the end of the season but as a whole it's definitely weaker than season 1. Still very good and is guaranteed to be my Anime of the season, but I think that's more a statement of how weak this season was.

Though tiger mask w is still king of the wild wild wild, king of the wild wild wild

The Eccentric Family S2 11

That was really underwhelming, unfortunately.

Yep. The middle part was very predictable, it was... boring.
All the accusations with the gun as evidence are so pointless when we know the truth, and we even see a scene where Tenmaya comments it's truly fake, so we know that in a few minutes it was going to be discovered and mess up their plans, so there is no need to worry. Again the Kinkaku/Ginkaku trapping the little brother so it won't interfere, just another little thing that is like the first season.

I think we are going to have a flashback in next episode (that's the preview), but even then, the Nidaime plot has gone kind of nowhere. No showdown with Akadama-sensei nor know why they fell apart, character wise they have deepen very little in Nidaime too.
I thought he was going to be the focus with the other stuff being the side plots, but again the
Ebisuwaga father has taken over the last 3 episodes.

At what point does the show stop trying to make the twins as lovable goofs and just admit they are pure fucking evil. I mean 2 out of 5 family members being decent tanuki should be enough, those two should just leave that horrible family and have nothing to do with them.

At least one of the twins seemed somewhat redeemable this episode. "Somewhat" in that he at least questions that he might be doing something stupid.

At one point they need to do more than question "Hans are we the baddies?" and follow the example of the two other siblings. When you are continuously harassing and bothering a sweet family who your father got their father killed, you are horrible horrible assholes.

I don't know how kaisei ended up being so sweet.

My Hero Academia Episode 25: Todoroki was definitely the "star" of Sports Festival. One thing I've always liked about the series is how character arcs aren't treated like a switch where the character's problems are instantly overcome and they're immediately all better.

Re:Creators Episode 11: Finally get the backstory of Sota's friend who created Altair. While I find Setsuna's story to be pretty compelling, especially given how realistic it is (if you want proof, look up all that drama from the Steven Universe fandom that happened about a year or two ago), the show still has major "Show, Don't Tell" issues. Like how Sota feels guilt about cutting ties with her because he got jealous. Maybe instead of just having him narrate over an image of him sulking in his bedroom, how about show things from Setsuna's perspective? I know there's a possibility of this happening next episode, but I feel like if the show really wanted us to empathize with this tragedy, then maybe we should have been shown the scenes from the perspective of the victim.

Dragon Ball Super Episode 95: These last few episodes almost feel like an apology for how shitty Resurrection of F was.

Lupin the Third Part 4: So I've been holding off on this until the dub was finally finished. I watched the premier last night on Toonami and it did not disappoint. I love the characters, the art style, and music. It's just fun. Especially since it got the edgy-ass Tokyo Ghoul anime to bounce off of. Cassandra Lee as Rachel is also pretty good casting. Makes the Persona 5 comparisons even better lol.
