Maybe I'm over stereotypical anime stuff. It's entertaining enough, but I feel like I've seen it all before.

It would be cool if they started hiring actors with American accents to do American roles, like in All Might's case. Are there really none of them in Japan? The closest thing I've ever seen in any anime was the German guy in The Wind Rises who was voiced by an American on Ghibli's board of directors.

Why not he embodys the american stereotype of superhero almost like a Japanese Superman if anything its just the writer taking major inspiration from comics, if im not mistaken the manga hasn't gone into details about the rest of the world and quirks yet.

So, watched this through to current so far- and something's nagging at me because the series has now pulled it twice- characters getting grievously injured (first the teachers, now Iida's brother) in situations where they should realistically have died, but miraculously survive.

There's a tension there where the story toys with a dark underbelly but seems unwilling to embrace it. (at least, so far.) Todoroki's plotline is also dark, but not really in the same way.

In these type of series, crazy durability is the norm. And even then, MHA actually doesn't abuse it as much, like Deku's hands always getting fucked up. Nothing's bad as Fairy Tail though.

Honestly, this is just basic human behavior. He's intentionally abrasive to everyone around him so he says generic demeaning stuff, but what has always defined his motive is that he wants to win. And win legitimately.

He saw that Todoroki was capable of more than the fight he gave him, so he doesn't feel he actually won. It doesn't make him virtuous except in the sense that he wants to achieve victory in a fair way. He won't be happy if it's just given to him.

I wouldn't mind watching the dub, it seems well produced and acted, but the names just break my immersion every time. "Midoriya" instead of "Izuku" is just so weird
