BO Wkd 06•16-18•17 - Queen is dethroned, all hail McQueen, ScarJo roughed up

Very happy for WW. It's legs are much stronger than many thought it would be.

Scarlet Johansson stars in another dud. Her career outside of MCU isn't looking too good. But who knows? Maybe the Lucy cinematic universe will save her. :p

I didn't even know Cars 3 came out.....wwwooooowwww

Has there been marketing for the movie at all anywhere? Apparently its not on any of the channels I watch.

The Cars brand has always been driven by the merchandise, not the films. The highest-grossing Cars film is Cars 2, which only made $562 million worldwide. I think that's the 9th or 10th slot for Pixar films. Adding Disney Animation to that list drops it another 4-5 slots.

After not liking the first Cars and kind of hating Cars 2, I had rock bottom expectations for Cars 3. I actually had a fairly good time with it. Not a great movie, but I've no qualms recommending it.

Considering how often it's brought up (and rightfully so) that Cars is driven by merchandise, and that the reviews have hardly been great, I wonder why Disney hasn't simply outsourced the franchise to the company that made the Planes film.

I don't even want to imagine what the cars franchise would be without Pixar's magic touch.

Cars 3 is by no means a great film, but technically it's very well put together and the story is actually trying to say something for the most part. Giving it to a less competent studio would destine it for absolute mediocrity.

BvS had Spring Break, and no competition for 3 weeks, yet it still collapsed at the BO, not to mention its eternal shame of losing its 3rd weekend to a Melissa McCarthy film.

That's due to BvS being the exact opposite of a crowd-pleasing blockbuster

What really killed that movie is that it's "boring"

No way they make the same mistake in JL. They already having Whedon making sure the pacing works.

Wonder Woman revised up, again. $41.3 million weekend, 29% drop.

#WonderWoman rises above estimates again w/ final at $41.3M, off only 29% in 3rd wknd, Beats 3rd wknd of last 3 films starring #IronMan.

So WW is really decent eh? Considering the hold is quite good.

GF has been buggin me to watch it the last couple days but I have zero interest in WW as a character.

Go WW go!

Also, just realized TF5 comes out on Wed and there's zero reviews on RT. When's the review embargo up?

I would peg Wonder Woman's domestic total between $360-385M at this point, with $360M being the result of it taking multiple 40-50% hits in the next few weeks. Even with a 30% decline next weekend, I'm not sure $400M is in the cards since the weekdays have so far been relatively weaker than I would like to see for it reach that milestone. Still, the fact it is going to beat BvS without breaking a sweat is simply remarkable.

Tuesday at 7PM EST.

What's The Mummy's worldwide outlook? Could it still end up being a moderate success? Or is it squarely in the bomb zone?

I shall never die

Also the way that those tickets work usually is the full cost of the ticket is covered through the ticket provider (Fandango or Atom) and T-Mobile

Go see it with her. It's an enjoyable flick and it definitely deserves to be supported.

Sadly for WW, with Transformers coming along it is going to lose any IMAX screens it is currently showing on.

In my city (Toronto) tomorrow is the last chance to see it in IMAX.

Keep going Wonder Woman, sucks that Rough Night is doing so poorly. It looks funny but I went to go see The Mummy with friends instead.
