Is this bad?
UserBenchmarks: Game 47%, Desk 42%, Work 26%
CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K - 41.2%
GPU: Nvidia GTX 970 - 69.9%
HDD: Samsung HD103SI 1TB - 43.9%
RAM: Unknown BLS8G3D1609DS1S00. BLS8G3D1609DS1S00. 16GB - 59.1%
MBD: Biostar TP67XE

CPU is well below average

Yeah, at stock you probably should be seomewhere at 65% in the results. 41,2% doesn't look very normal in this case. I'd recommend taking a look at the CPU temperature and all.

Ah, and just to be 100% sure, before running the test close all apps that may be open (games, steam, browser, everything). It affects the results. So if you have not closed everything before this 1st test, close and try again.

Have the full version on PS4 already but still a compelling offer even for me. Please buy it, awesome, completely one-of-a-kind game. The levels are unreal.

I had Fire Fox running

Closing Fire Fox brought it up to 53%, which is still bad, but better than 41%

If you made sure everything was closed and you still got 53% I think there's something wrong. You should be getting something between 60 ~ 70%. But I still thinks that it may not be the cause for 5 fps... that's just way too low. Anyway, I recommend you taking a look at CPU temps and verify if they're normal (can't tell you the normal temperature for sure, but if you google for normal temps of an i5 2500K you may find it).

Maybe that could be related to Windows 7 as well, but honestly I don't know. Have been using Windows 10 for a while now.

This seems bad

This is... idle

Yeah. If it was gaming I would say it seems ok, but idle it's definitely too hot.

I got a variation of 64ºC to 70ºC some days ago running the CPU benchmark from 3D Mark while running Afterburner to check temps. Idle it stays more or less at 40ºC here. Mine is i5 2500 (not the K) but since you have not overclocked anything I'm pretty sure you should be with similar temperatures.

You must despise anything that is limited in any way, shape, or form.
It's not anti-consumer to have specific, timed events.
It absolutely is. The Elusive Targets were designed to keep interest in the game up via social media (streaming etc.), and pressure people into buying the episodes as they were released, instead of waiting for a better deal on them.
It may not be the worst thing ever, but it's still anti-consumer.

Their intrinsic value is mostly dependent on the high stakes of their temporary nature.
There's no reason they couldn't release them all, but still limit you to one shot at them per profile, without removing them forever.
I still don't like that idea when there are rewards tied to them - especially when it does let you restart the mission - but at least you would have a chance of unlocking them if you bought the game today.

That would be items/challenges. It has since been patched so you are only required to be online to unlock those items/challenges. After being unlocked, you can use them all in offline mode.
So it still doesn't have a proper offline mode where you can make progress without being online.

Definitely not. I'm running at 60~100 fps with an stock i5 2500, at max settings and SMAA. It's not his CPU.
I think people all the time underestimate the i5 2nd gen working with a GTX 970 / 1060 or RX 480 / 580. I hear people all the time saying CPU may be severly bottlenecking performance with these GPUs and it ends up never being the case.
There's no way it's staying above 60 FPS in crowded areas with a stock i5-2500, unless the latest patch also doubled performance.
My 2500K at 4.5GHz was bottlenecking a GTX 960 in many games.
I have doubts that you are actually monitoring framerate and GPU load.

I bought a bigger and better heatsink, and I'm going to do a big clean of my computer this weekend.

Looking in the case, it's very dusty, one of the fan vents is blocked on the front, and the CPU fan isn't even spinning.

It's been a few years since I've cleaned it, and the CPU heatsink is from 2011, and it's the stock one that came with my CPU.

There was an old Hitman game I loved back in the day. I downloaded the demo on Steam and I just don't have it in me any more to sink time into this. I'm sure it's a blast but not for me.

Oh wow, they've made a lot of changes to the tutorial/prologue.

Might triple dip on a PC copy, just to throw my support to IO. I've been playing the Xbox One version after playing a shitload of the PS4 version all year.

How are your temperatures looking at load with that CPU/GPU?

I played the first mission in the demo, and while I really like what I saw, the online requirement is an even bigger turn off. And they made the demo require online connection too. I read people complaining that the servers are inaccessible now due to the sale and the number of people trying out the demo. That's just ridiculous. I hope they patch it out completely now that they're independent. I've always been a IoI supporter but that is unacceptable to me.

As I said, I played only the demo. So maybe this is not the nearly the crowdest area, but I keep at least 60 almost all the time there, with just a few drops sometimes (and nothing too drastic). This is the crowdest area in the demo:

And believe what you want, I'm constantly monitoring the frame-rate here, since I have the option to show FPS actiaved on the Steam Client.

Just played the demo and now I'm gonna buy season 1 immediately. Holy shit, this is exactly my jam and I've never known. This is the kind of thing I thought Assassin's Creed was gonna be before it turned out to...not haha.

No idea how I have stayed away from this series for so long. Never touched a Hitman game before but I really want to now. Mission based stealth is stuff I love like, a lot.

Hitman was doing awesome social stealth before Assassin's Creed was an idea. Glad you finally discovered it, there's no other series quite like it. Even the series that have tried to copy it like Death To Spy never really captured what made it so good

How many times did you try the demo missions?

Moving steam folder (the save data is located there) to the ssd solved the stutter problem when auto-saving.

And this game 30 fps lock is pretty good.

Full game is 33 dollars on xbl Australian store. yet each chapter is only 4 dollars.

How many chapters are there ? seems like it would be cheaper to just buy all the individual chapters instead of the whole pack

Bought the first episode when it was released but the Paris level chewed my PC up so I returned it intending to get it on PS4 but I then got distracted by other games. Definitely buying it this week, the game is super fun.

You'd be missing out on the three meaty bonus episodes.

How many times did you try the demo missions?

Three times for the first one and twice for the second. By the time I finished my first attempt I was so in and bought it immediately.

One my favorite things in any video game ever was to replay missions in MGS5 with increasingly ridiculolus methods to clear it, and this seems to be what this game is all about so I'm in love. This is a weird "I wish I could have been playing this years ago" moment for me haha. Totally love stealth, screwing with the AI and multiple ways to succeed in a stealth mission. This is amazing.

I'm so glad I discovered it too :)

EDIT: Replaying missions again as I wait for the main game to download.
Used coins to lure the guy in the white suit over to a secludedish spot, knocked him out, got his clothes, met up with the guy and used the explosives on him. This game is so fun.

Just wait til Sapienza. Best level design in the series.

I'm glad we could detect this! And thank god you didn't try that overclock. lol
Hopefully it will make Hitman runs just fine after you fix it (it probably is the cause).

Ooooh I wanna see what I get with that benchmark.

This is what I got with that benchmark test.

UserBenchmarks: Game 100%, Desk 85%, Work 58%
CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K - 88.3%
GPU: Nvidia GTX 1070 - 109.9%
SSD: Samsung 850 Evo 500GB - 96.6%
SSD: Samsung 850 Evo 1TB - 99.7%
HDD: Seagate Desktop SSHD 1TB - 72%
HDD: Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB - 62%
RAM: G.SKILL Ares DDR3 1866 C10 2x8GB - 68.9%
MBD: Asrock P67 Extreme4

Gonna try the Hitman demo, I have a few Hitman games but I never got around to actually playing them.

I also have a 2500K but OC'd to 4.5GHz, yeah the stock heat sink is not so great even when the fan is working and eventually I think Intel just stopped including it with K CPUs since most would use an aftermarket cooler anyway. With my (oversized) cooler I usually idle in the mid-20s to low 30s and stay below 60C on load, could probably be better but I never bothered redoing the TIM. Bought a Metro DataVac last year and was one of the best PC related purchases I made in years and I've done a fair bit of upgrading the last couple years. I've cleaned stuff a lot more frequently since.

Cleaning it out and putting on a new HS/TIM and a decent overclock and it'll almost feel like a new(ish) CPU compared to stock clocks, at least to an extent.

Tbh I never really like the premise of the series, even though I must admit the gameplay looks very very interesting. Going to give the demo a try and who knows, I might like it enough to buy the full thing.

Sorry, I missed the part where you said that you had only played the demo.
Here's an example of both the game dropping well below 60 FPS on a 2500K (at 4.5GHz) and the 2500K bottlenecking a GTX 960.

In a couple of your own screenshots you can also see that GPU usage is dropping below 99%, meaning that the CPU is bottlenecking it.

Should I finish all the challenges in the demo while I wait for the game to download or does the game feature the same prologue?

I'm already hyped!
I tend to not do the challenges, or at least not look at them, because I feel they give too much away about the different options you can do. Part of the fun is the observation and hearing some NPC chatter or noticing a possibility yourself.

Not sure if progress carries over though between the demo and full game, if that's what you're asking

Just playing Paris after doing the tutorial levels will have you agape at the size and complexity of the levels

I understand the i5 2500 will bottleneck his GPU as it also limits mine (RX480). What I meant is that it won't bottleneck so severely as some people say. He said the game was unplayable for him, that he could barely move Agent 47, and later that he was getting 5fps at the boat scene (which I imagine is the same as the one in the demo). I'm sure we would have better performance overall in some games with a more modern CPU but the i5 2500 still can handle things alright.

Hitman should be totally playable with this CPU, unfortunately he's having serious overheating issues, which is probably the cause for such poor performance.

Sounds like Absolution wasn't the major success that some were saying it was with the "3.6 million sold" figure, even after accounting for bundles and sales. The video noted that IO also had layoffs and struggles after Absolution released

Yeah, and that rides on the back of Kane and Lynch as well!

I wish Kane and Lynchs gameplay lived up to its amazing characters. The art direction and visual style for KL2: Dog Days is incredible. It's way to good for the gameplay which was serviceable.

As it turns out, it totally carries over!

Yeah, I hadn't thought about challenges ruining things that can be done in the level. Didn't seem as big of a deal in the yacht level, but I can see how that could be different in bigger levels. I think my gameplan is going to be run through the level, do the escalation missions(I think that's what they are called) then run through the challenges before moving on with the story.

Just spent a while today doing the escalation missions for the yacht tutorial level and had a blast. I loved having to adapt strategies, plan exit strategies...and in the end have to basically sketch out every move from start to end to get it done under 5 minutes. Man, this game is the most fun I've had with video games in like, literal years and I'm not even out of the tutorial yet haha.

Time to go to Paris now!

Played the demo for 4 hours straight yesterday. I...really didn't expect it to be this engrossing. Going through the five yacht escalations was pretty satisfying overall.

Performance dipped below 60 at certain points when playing through the yacht level, but it was pretty good most of the time.

Although I have one question before I consider getting this. Do I need to play through the previous Hitman games to understand what's going on story wise? Seemed pretty straightforward during the tutorial.

Edit: The only Hitman game I've played through was Hitman GO.

I was the same as you when I got into this and now I've been playing this game for a whole year. Actually, having played Hitman Go really helps you to appreciate how the "real" Hitman, too, is a puzzle game more than anything.

The story is basically a clean break from past games. All you need to know is that the other five games happened between the tutorial and Paris.

I wonder! I heard denuvo is good for customers, naaah dont say that it was blocking the mac/linux release, naah your wrong denuvo 5/5.

So happy to see people discovering Hitman. It's such a unique series in the genre. All stealth games are kind of puzzle games, but none more than the Hitman games The puzzle box nature of the levels, gradual unfolding and unraveling all the intricacies and then figuring how to slot into the clockwork of routines and events unseen and unnoticed is endlessly satisfying. In many ways, playing as the unseen silent assassin is more like playing an adventure game, getting items to interact with stuff in the right ways to set events in motions. It's so distinctly different from any of the other major stealth series.

I played Blood Money first so I'm not sure how difficult it would be to go the other way, but I hope newcomers eventually check out the older games. The levels may not be on the scale of these, but some are even more inventive and just as fun to unravel.

Just started Paris...wow. This is mind boggling.

This might be the first game where I'm not save scumming my way to winning. Took out one target, and screwed up the second one. I could have reloaded but honestly there is so much going on around this level that every time I die I'm just hitting restart so I can explore more.

Anyone here played this game on both a PC and PS4 Pro and can give me an idea of how close the PS4 Pro version is to the PC version? I currently own Hitman on Steam, I have a gaming laptop with a 1070 in it. I am considering buying this on PS4 as well because I just bought a 4K HDR tv. I know that the PC version does HDR as well, and will probably look better, but my PS4 is permanently hooked up to the tv as with my laptop I'd have to hook it up every time I wanted to play. It would be much more convenient to own a digital copy on PS4 Pro, and if the game looks and runs somewhat close to the PC version I'd jump on it. I know there is now a demo available, but unfortunately I'm out of town all weekend and can't test it on my PS4 Pro.
