I've only bought Dead Cells (cheaper elsewhere). I am contemplating The Witcher 3 DLC since I want to get back into the game. I've only played part of the first chapter when it came out. I have a PS4 Pro but it's cheaper for me to just grab the DLC on PC than buy the GOTY on PS4. I am also tempted by Hollow Knight but I am trying to wait for the Switch version.

The only other three games I want were:

Night In the Woods (No Sale)
Playerunknown's Battlegrounds (No Sale)
Va-11-Hall-A (minimal sale)

I guess my wallet is saved. Although, Sunless Sea is only a bit over $5.00 so that will probably be purchased.

Edit: I also want Rocket League but I might wait for the Switch version.

[*]Once the prices are set, that's it for the sale. Steam doesn't really do dailies or hourlies any more. It's been like this for a while and complaining here won't change it
[/LIST]

I'm unhappy this no longer happens. Dank memes were all over the place:

none of those games are semi recent. and back in the day, those games would be discounted more. gta V is still half off on a steam sale when you could have gotton gta v for much cheaper on console at some point. same with fallout 4 and witcher 3.

all of those you could have found for cheaper on console at some point....while steam sales dont drop as low. It's ironic how you can buy games on console for cheaper than on PC this generation.

Well stores can sell games for whatever they want at brick and mortar, but on Steam the publisher chooses. These games have been or are cheaper on other Online stores so it is the same as retail. There are so many places to buy keys (legally) so if you dont like the price on Steam you can get a steam key cheaper elsewhere. Also GTA V is record low right now (on PC) on STEAM.

I agree deals were better 3 or so years ago but there are still some amazing deals on games that just came out.

What are the top 3 "must buy" games on sales right now?

I might be sounding like a broken record by now, but these three are brilliant value for money:

Shadows of Mordor - 3,99€ (80% off)
Headlander - 3.99€ (80% off)
Pixeljunk Shooter Ultimate (PJ1+2 + improved graphics) - 0,89€ (90% off)

I don't really have alot of issues with what's in my cart. Which is why they are in my Cart. I kinda "get" why they are priced the way they are (whether how long they have been out or if they are from a small developer...etc). Only one I think that could be really improved is the MGS one....that should be less.

my issue is with games like witcher 3, gta v, fallout 4, etc. Games that should be much less.

Should they be though?

All those games listed are in the top 10 sellers right now.

Rockstar has been particularly stingy with GTAV. Witcher 3's prices seems to be due to CD Projekt forcing the DLC as well, likely to drive up their margins.

It's literally a FACT that steam sales were better back in the day, especially on Triple A games.

These games are 2 years old or almost there....please show me where Fallout 4 is cheaper than on the steam sale, same with witcher 3 (and I don't mean like 50 cents cheaper). Console gaming and PC gaming has flipped when it comes to game prices.

All these games you could have found Dirt cheap at some point during a sale for consoles when this would NEVER happen back in the day. while on PC, they arent getting dirt cheap like they use to. Just factual shit.

maybe I'm just bitter cause I own all these games already but on Console, and I just want to rebuy them for mods/etc now that my PC is up to snuff. but man, they just arent getting down to the "rebuyable" price range. feels like I've been waiting forever

I dont have consoles but can you really get Fallout 4 and The Witcher New for much less than $19.99/$27? How much lower do they go?

it's still ironic to me, that these games go for like 10 bucks during some crazy sale on consoles. but on PC they just aren't getting that low.

How I miss the old days.

I remember getting Just cause 2 for like 5 bucks. damn...those were the good days.

Just a heads up in other steam news (and for anyone possibly buying it) but the episodic Blues and Bullets has almost certainly ceased development now as the developer's website has shut down.

NBA Playgrounds any good? Looks fun but I've read some bad things regarding support from the devs.

It's decent. Not as good as Jam or Street series, but you have to take what you can get when it comes to arcade sports these days.

The Steam version has actually been well supported and received several updates (new players, courts, tournaments, etc.) so far. It's the Switch port that is neglected.

Note: Both games were purchased in the Russian steam store so they can only be redeemed in: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Republic of, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Russian Federation. You can use VPN to unlock them if you want tho.
VPN вряд ли сработает, товарищ. Good luck with that, I really doubt there is enough people from CIS for this giveaway. And by the way, if those are new gifts and not keys, you can also send it to those countries:
Everything that have lower price than RU should be fine too.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.

It's marginally true (at least here in the US) especially if you're actively looking for deals on physical versions of console games and/or don't mind buying them used. But usually these are fringe cases or closeout sales or prices after GCU discounts (which themselves cost money).

By and large though, most things are cheaper this Steam sale than I've ever seen on consoles. Last week at Best Buy, Mafia III was $15.99 (physical) for a new copy and that's the cheapest I've seen it. It's currently on sale on Steam for $14.79. The same is true of digital-only games like Shiness: The Lightning Kingdom which is on sale this week on PSN for $20.99 (with an active PS+ subscription) and it's currently $17.99 on Steam. Rise of the Tomb Raider: $27.99 with GCU this week, currently on Steam for $23.99.

Come to think of it, it's actually pretty rare to see games on consoles be significantly cheaper than their PC counterparts, and almost always requires membership to PS+, XBL, Amazon Prime, or GCU.

Just a heads up in other steam news (and for anyone possibly buying it) but the episodic Blues and Bullets has almost certainly ceased development now as the developer's website has shut down.

That's sad because the game had good potential. I loved the first episode, but I think they announced that the second was gonna be the last one a while back and started offering refunds.

Thanks. Looks like I'll pull the trigger after work.

I'm thinking about picking up GRIP.

Never played it, but looks really cool.

I friggin' loved Rollcage as a kid. Seriously thinking about picking it up too.

It really does suck now...oftentimes I can find physical console games a lot cheaper than the Steam versions.

Jshackles handled most of the ignorance with actual facts, but something to keep in mind is Valve made PC an open market. You can activate physical versions on Steam and most digital outlets sell keys that activate on Steam.

The argument doesn't end with Steam, even though it clearly has better prices on the majority of the games, but goes far beyond Steam to stores that are able to negotiate better deals and give away most of their 30% cut.

I'm failing at this summer sale, only bought one game thusfar and it was only 20% off.XD

Also send help... I can't stop playing Pictopix, games like that are like crack for me. I think I have to actively resist buying games like that.

no, there are times when you see big discounts on this stuff....but yea I have GCU. and also, I got GCU for like 10 years for like 13 dollars because of a deal.

But just about 3-4 years ago, you'd see BIG discounts on PC stuff, way better than on Console. now...it's very close if not better sometimes on Console. The savings you are referring to now is like 1-4 bucks. when before it would be like 10-15 bucks.

Ok whelp, there it is.

this Steam sale is AMAZING!!!! Best deals I've ever seen. 3-4 years ago, they weren't good at all. This one is better. Console game prices haven't dropped compared to 3-4 years ago. (once the game has been out for awhile). Everything I am saying is ignorance and lies. I'm just making this shit up apparently.

still not semi recent fam

Seems like an arbitrary, subjective measure.

Publishers aren't going to price their games solely on how new they are, but their market potential.

If a publisher has a mega popular game, they aren't motivated to discount to the same levels of games that have been out a similar length of time.

Publishers are able to generate significantly more revenue this way, even with reduced sales. Nier and PUBG are likely to be the top revenue earners this sale and they have a light discount all no discount at all, respectively.

My haul so far:

I need something else other than an fps game GAF. Hit me up with your recommendations.

The sale was indeed better when there were flashes and dailies. Today it sucks.

Sure but there were no refunds back then. And you had to stress yourself mentally for days to make sure you don't miss out on a flash deal. Today you can actually buy whatever you want and start enjoying the games right away.

Besides the deals are still great today so I don't really see why everyone is complaining so much.

Bad Rats for 50 cents shut up and buy it SteamGAF.

I'd personally trade refunds for dailies and flash sales.

Steam sales felt like an event more than a sale, and I liked it that way.

I'm not a publisher, so I am not looking at it from their behalf.

Square probably made more money in one day of Steam sales than the entire cost of the PC port, but unwilling to fund a small patch 😵😵😵😵😵

I'm not a publisher, so I am not looking at it from their behalf.

Would be nice to go through life with a bag over my head.

Could anyone recommend me a game or two? Here are a few games I really enjoyed for reference:

The Witness
Her Story
Regency Solitaire
SquareLogic
Snakebird
Hexcells

I do own Talos Principle but I didn't like the first person-y ness of the puzzles. I was thinking perhaps getting Stephen's Sausage Roll?

It would actually be cool to have a recommendation thread... i.e., post a few games you like and ask for suggestions.
