The Rest of the PS Exclusive Destiny Content coming to Xbox in October

lmao
This whole exclusive thing is such a mess. It isnt gonna pull people over to the other platform and PS people get screwed over also really. Because Xur can never sell a exclusive weapon, a pvp map can never be at Trials and a strike can never be a Nightfall.

Yup, they somehow manage to make an exclusivity deal that fucks over every single person who buys the game.

I will never understand how it's bad that Xûr can't sell a specific weapon.

And I'm thankful for that we didn't have to play that shitty Dust Palace as a nightfall for a very long time, or play that pos map Sector whatever in trials.

Xbox was suppose to get it earlier but when Destiny 2 got delayed they extended the exclusivity deal with Playstation for another year.
They really should have just made it accessible but went "but wait! Exclusive RoI content!" For that extra year.

But that's beside the bigger point of exclusive content is really lame period, and this is only marginally better than "forever" albeit possibly more insulting.

So it was supposed to come when Destiny 2 releases? basically when it's obsolete? that's disgusting. Good job Sony&Xbox on screwing up your own players by this shit.
Xbox? How they get lumped in with this?

They were not even allowed to promote having the game on the platform.

All i can say is..please stop this bullshit, it is unnecessary and doesn't help your consumers and player base no matter what system. At this point i cannot be bothered anymore and it doesn't matter what game it is..this practice needs to stop.

If anything this should be more justification to buy it on the platform that doesn't have this bullshit to discourage these deals (if you're buying it anyway that is).

Great point and great advice....you're right and that's more than likely exactly what I'll do.

This is why I'm going with PS4 for D2, despite having a solid PC.

Who knows what they're gonna pull next lol

So you're gonna give up an uncapped framerate and 4K support because of a little extra content? The PC version is by far the best version after playing it at 60fps at E3.

Not to mention better FOV (thank god).

They can keep their dumb ass strike and as much as I hate it the pc features outweigh the bullshit content because in the end as I can play it for a prolonged time without needing eye surgery (exaggerating of course, a bit).

I wouldn't exactly say unnecessary, this practice does a really good job of associating a platform with a franchise, like COD & GTA last gen.

So the Xbox one version of destiny 2 will cost less than the ps4 version right?

Like, when I buy a can of coke I don't pay as much as a buddy of coke which has more in it.

Figures this thread would devolve in to console warrior fuckwittery.

How long has it been since a thread related to Bungie was actually positive?

Except that isn't true at all. It completely depends on where you and your friend buy those cokes.

I get what you're trying to say and everything, but this was a bad analogy lol

Fuck off the company that started exclusive content and timed DLC.

Come on man.

I get that defending Sony is your thing, but comparing 30 days to 1-2 years is uh....something.

Mind you, Sony was doing this before MS anyway.

But I think Nintendo might have actually started it.

Are you serious? You think there's any reason for this particular topic to result in happy, positive discussion? Really?

Also, have a look to see why it took until Tomb Raider IV before the series appeared on any non-PlayStation console after the original.
I believe the original quote chain was talking about timed DLC.

Oh! You checked my past. Nice.

It sucks, they have all done it. The time gap is super annoying compared to 30 days and it hurts me too. I hate it too and never made me want to purchase a different console for some extra skins or DLC. Similar to how Amazon or Gamestop may offer different colored pants for Assassins, it won't make me preorder at either place when I know I will buy at BB.

I guess my point is that no one is making anyone sign the deal. All these companies agree to terms and I am sure MS would sign a similar deal if they could despite what they say. But I don't like it at all. I blame Bungie most of all because it's their game and they continue to make horrible, weird or baffling decisions.

Besides, I owned the Xbox because I wanted to play Shenmue. That led me to Splinter Cell, Halo, Jet Set Radio, Panzer Dragoon and all the other Xbox exclusives I couldn't play on my PS2. I don't need to defend my honor but it appears I have.

Cheers.

I have an unopened "The Collection" Edition for Xbone I picked up for like $20 a few months ago. Still in cellophane. Any reason to still play this game? I've debated just re-selling it at this point.

This kinda BS from ActiBungie makes me feel dirty, like I need to take a shower. Kinda nudges me to not even bother w/ this game. Dunno.

Definitely won't be picking up D2 anytime soon, if ever.

This is a year. A full year. Which eventually turned into 2 because...reasons.

This most definitely justifies a fuck you to all 3 companies involved.

Sony and Activision for brokering a deal that locks away content for a full year and then Bungie for being too fucking CBF to actually come through not eh deal that was done.

Nobody has ever been (or ever will be) of Nintendo's NES era level of bullshit. Sega basically had to port other developers games to Master System themselves because Nintendo restricted developers from doing so if they wanted to publish on NES.

I believe the original quote chain was talking about timed DLC.

The only distinction is because DLC itself only came into being for gen 7. so couldn't have been part of deals before then.

I definitely won't be buying destiny 2. I'm really getting tired of this anti consumer timed exclusivity DLC bullshit. I understand entire games being exclusive because that's the main difference between consoles, but for games on multiple platforms it's just a slap in the face to all consumers that aren't on the preferred platform.

Isn't keeping games off platforms, you know...worse?

But I think Nintendo may have started that with Street Fighter 2 on Megadrive but I could be wrong.
They're both not great? But if we're talking about who started the practice of timed DLC and how it progressed over a generation, I don't really get why that was brought up.
