Played it for the first time a couple of months ago. You get used to them after an hour or so.
But then again, I enjoy tank controls so I might not be the most trustworthy judge on the subject.

It went on for a bit too long and the QTE's are absolutely rageworthy but it's still an incredible survival-action game.

I just finished RE4 for the 3rd or 4th time yesterday and everything in this post is completely accurate.

Why?
SteamCon seems to be made with twin-stick shooter games in mind...

Aiming and shooting with the analogue pad is just completely off. Maybe it's something with my settings, but a regular controller felt much, much better

I personally do, yes.

I wouldn't miss either of them. Both hold a special place in my heart for different reasons and both are amazingly atmospheric.

EDIT: ^ Don't listen to their lies. Shun the non believers!
Meh. I'd at best be a bit more charitable and say that Dishonored is a must play, while Bioshock Infinite is worth checking out and going through once at least but to NOT go in expecting an immersive sim type game. It's the very epitome of my fears with "modernizing" those kinds of games for mainstream appeal, in that things get funneled down and made to service a story over an immersive world you can really get into. FFXIII was the same shit but I half dreaded that coming off of FFX for that team.

Reposting for the night crowd, hopefully someone has some thoughts:
I haven't kept up with Ubisoft's Season Pass/DLC situation, so I've got some questions in regard to the Assassin's Creed games (Black Flag DLC forward).

1. Any of the DLC worth it?
2. Does buying the base game and then the season pass get you all the content, or do you have to buy the Gold editions to get all of the content?
3. I've only played the mainline games up through Black Flag (none of the side stuff like Freedom Cry, etc.). What's the most cost-effective way to get up-to-speed?

The games so rarely go on sale on Steam that I'm debating getting them now, or waiting until the Winter sale and hoping for something a bit deeper than 50% off.

Which Stronghold game should I get - Stronghold HD or Stronghold Crusader HD? I'm looking at them in the store and really don't know the difference between them. And another question: how's the multiplayer? What modes can we play? Is there some sort of coop? Thanks for answers.

Edit: one more question: can anyone recommend multiplayer strategy or tycoon games where I can play with my friend cooperatively?

Got my refund finally on a couple of games, repurchased them...

AND A WHOLE LOTTA OTHER TITLES DAMN YOU STEAM SALES YOU'RE KILLING MY WALLET....

Probably the most notable discounts I'd recommend are Melty Blood and Under Night: In-Birth, almost 75% off those two fighters.

Is Bioshock Infinite even trying to be a modernized attempt at an immersive sim? I never got that sense.

Pretty surprising how much you can make off of steam trading cards. I already have enough to buy what's in my cart and then some.

Anime cards are a gold mine.

That's weird, shouldn't you be using analog for movement and touch pad for aiming (mimicking the kb+m setup)?

Obligatory yearly Settlers post.

I wish Bluebyte would get another chance to make a new Settlers game, but with Champions of Anteria being a failure it's safe to assume like they will continue be relegated to working on big mainstream Ubisoft IPs like that upcoming pirate game.

They did however set up a new Bluebyte studio in Berlin to work on a "AAA Strategy game" which is likely a new HOMM game, so at least there's that.

Another option would be an indie studio coming in and doing what Cities Skylines did to SimCity but with Settlers. There have been some attempts but nothing has come close.

That's not how dualsticks designed for two actual sticks play. You're thinking of games designed specifically for mouse aim and I highly doubt Housemarque, being primarily a console dev, had that mindset.

Console dualstick design is justing point the stick in the direction you want to shoot, whereas some PC "dualsticks" (really not sure why they're still called that) have you dragging a cursor around with the mouse. Cursor-based games are generally awful when using two sticks because the dev usually just simulates the mouse with the second stick and it becomes slow and imprecise to drag a cursor around with a stick, but they may play pretty well on a touchpad.

its a pass imo, loved the first reboot and couldnt even finish this one, boring winter environment overused and ubi style busywork are a couple of the negatives for me.

My friend is telling me tales of HuniePop. The acheevs are..... fuck is this game? I mean, I thought I knew by "dating sim", but this is weird.

This is weird, GAF.

So if i want to have Dying Light and The Following expansion, i need to buy "Dying Light: The Following - Enhanced Edition" plus "Dying Light: The Following"? Or "Dying Light: The Following - Enhanced Edition" plus Season Pass? And it looks like Season Pass doesn't even include all the DLCs.

Doesn't sound like a good deal for 2.5 years old game even on sale.

If I buy a Steam gift card on Amazon, do I get the code emailed to me? The language at the top of the page and the checkout process suggest it'll be shipped, but the product description says a code will be emailed.
The last time I did it (a year or two back) I am certain that I got it digitally.

Soothsayer
- Shadow Of Mordor
- Hand Of Fate
- Fallout New Vegas
- Hexcells Infinity
- Spelunky

Managed to stop myself there, about £12 all in all. Lots of other stuff I liked the look of, but none of the discounts swayed me enough. Couldn't turn down Mordor for under four quid.

No, you just buy the Enhanced Edition and it comes with everything except useless weapon packs.

Trying to decide between Nier Automata and Bayonetta. Both are supposed to be great games, but i heard bad things about Nier's PC port. Any suggestions?

Match3 with undercooked VN/dating sim bits and fuck scenes. It's fun to play but I wish the dating stuff wasn't such a side part of it. Would have loved to get the porn star and her daughter to make up.
Dev is an ass though I think.

Yes...."make up." Wink, wink, nudge, nudge, say no more!

Also, people have the right to spend their money however they please and can choose whatever reason not to buy a game, but I've always been a believer in separating a person from his work. I'm okay with disliking a person and liking his work. (See also: Fish, Phil.)

Not this again. Upon entering PayPal deets and just prior to bringing me to the confirmation page it displays this message:

When Open Link button is clicked Steam is opened but nothing further happens.

Ended up using the Steam client to make the purchase instead but I'd much rather use Firefox.

I don't think this is true in an absolute sense. If it were, why am I able to S / S++ some ikaruga levels - which is better than I could do with the 360 pad on either stick or dpad

Because Ikaruga is not a dualstick shooter and as such doesn't have the type of aiming that's being discussed.
