Thanks @ ToonLink.

Makes you wonder if these games will ever come out on the Switch or at least when?

Looking to get one for novelty more than anything but I will still play a few of the titles on a big screen (even though I own most of them via Wii/WiiU/3DS) - just not on my PJ!

Thinking about it, novelty aside/looks cool as fuck, I'd probably give this a miss if these were available for Switch so more things to buy when I eventually get one.

Super glad I put in a preorder on Amazon UK. I want the Famicom colors anyway

I'll probably order a US one too if possible

That's some odd logic. VC is definitely coming to Switch and based on their previous pricing models, would absolutely make them more money for the same amount of games.

My guess is Nintendo's mindset is that most consumers will only buy a few VC games, but many of those same people would likely pay $80 for this box. And they're probably right.

If those consumers could actually find one.

Sure, but with the SNES Classic, you're putting an $80 price tag on something with a compilation of 21 games. People might buy it for a handful of those games and have no interest in the others - they've still spent $80. Versus the VC where you're buying what you want.

I could be wrong, I'm just playing Devils advocate here.

Whatever Nintendo thinks they can sell, whatever number they think they have to produce to satisfy demand, they could double that shit, easy.

They're too fucking conservative with their estimates. Again. There's so much more demand that they are actually leaving money on the table - even considering the increased mindshare of this being an exclusive limited edition item and the headlines of "people still can't find one" months after release.

Amazon UK hasn't canceled my preorder yet.

Again, they're not being conservative. They. Don't. Care.

If they actually wanted consumers to have the opportunity to purchase one, there are very simple steps they could take. For one, a pre-order program.

It has been less than 24hrs since the announcement, and we do not even know if the current pre orders are retailers just jumping the gun without knowing their allocations.

I have a big meeting from 1 PM to 3 PM today and I have the worst luck in the world.

So all you US folks can rest assured the preorders will happen around that time today.

I'm just sitting here thinking.....there's no way these things are going to be commonly available between September and Jan 2018. I'm just thinking of the hoopla people are experiencing just trying to obtain a Switch even now, a flagship product that's selling out as fast as it can be produced. Even if Nintendo put like 5 million SNESC WW on the market, I feel like the potential audience for this is much bigger than that. And since this is now known as a limited production, something we didn't know when the NES classic was announced, there's just going to be millions of people whose sole purpose for buying these is to flip for 3 times the MSRP.

I have the Switch and yeah, I could probably just load up on whatever SNES titles I wanted and be done with it. But the SNES WAS my childhood, countless hours spent with friends on Street fighter II, Mario Kart, Mario World, DKC, Contra III, the classic RPGs, you name it. I wish Nintendo wouldn't treat these releases in a way that creates a breeding ground for scalpers frothing at the mouth to pay their rent off the profits.

Yeah, the above probably sounds salty and over the top as fucks, but whatever.

I'm definitely not arguing that Nintendo doesn't make money on these "Classic" consoles, but I still think think they make more overall on offering the service on consoles. If they produced these indefinitely, the scenario would probably be different.

Nintendo earns the salt. I'm going to get one, I'm not going to have to pay a scalper (I hope). But if we're going by what they've done in the past and what they've said about the SNESC, there's more reason to think it'll be a scalpers market again than not.
