So I just looked into it,

APPARENTLY, the origin is neither Itsy Bitsy or Incy Wincy, it's ACTUALLY...

Blooming. Bloody Spider

No really, here is apparently where the poem sprung from, originally from Camp and Camino in Lower California (1910) known simply as "Spider Song":

Oh, the blooming, bloody spider went up the spider web,
The blooming, bloody rain came down and washed the spider out,
The blooming, bloody sun came out and dried up all the rain,
And the blooming, bloody spider came up the web again.

It originated from America and spread worldwide, and the song changed form. Apparently Itsy Bitsy also predates Incy Wincy.

The first known published version appears to be in the US ..but that doesn't mean for certain it originated there or from an American.

The thing that makes me doubt the US origin is that "Blooming, bloody" does strike me as more of Australian or British turn of phrase..

...both being forms of mild swear/slang words that were/still are widely used in those regions .

I'm deeply disappointed that the joke answer has more responses than incy wincy (the correct answer)

Quality over quantity. Feel free to keep Piers Morgan though.

Haha. Unfortunately quantity matters if you are talking about reach.

UK, you are doing OK, we get a few of your TV shows and they are pretty good, music and an occasional movie, etc. Australia, what is up? I know y'all must have some decent programming, why does it never make it to the US? Doesn't need translating or anything, start up an Aussie Broadcast Network or something and start shoving that stuff down our throats!

A partial list, not to get too far off topic...
Channel Nine's The Block is screened in New Zealand, Finland, Canada, Sweden, the Philippines, Latin America, Denmark, across the Middle East, Hungary, Norway, Israel, Iceland, South Africa and Papua New Guinea. Love Child is shown in New Zealand, Brazil, Canada, Russia, Croatia, Eastern Europe and the Netherlands while House Husbands screens in New Zealand, Italy, Germany, Hungary and Poland, and the show is being remade for audiences in Spain and Italy.

Seven's big local dramas Home and Away, A Place to Call Home, Packed to the Rafters, All Saints, Always Greener and City Homicide have been sold to multiple markets, and screen in more than 150 countries.

Similarly, My Kitchen Rules, House Rules, Border Security, The Force, Million Dollar Minute, My Restaurant Rules, Animal Rescue, Medical Emergency, Anh Does and My France with Manu all sell around the world, with various formats being produced. My Kitchen Rules has spawned versions in Russia, Britain and the US.

Over the course of Channel Ten's Neighbours' lifetime, the series has been sold into nearly 100 territories. It is watched by millions across the globe, in places as diverse as the key US market on Hulu, Kenya, Barbados, Belgium – where it is the country's highest rating soap – and, of course, the UK, where it continues to be a staple of British life.

Now that's just confusing. Do you have "fries" as a distinction or are they chips too?

I mean, at McDonalds and similar places they can be called fries, if they're french fry (thin/shoestring) style. But you can say chips also.
I've heard biscuits before... But i have to ask, what does the word "cookies" mean in the uk and Aussie lands?

Cookies are a type of biscuit.

It's Incy Wincy, always has been. Non-English English speakers feel a need to explain the English foibles and put in explainable shit where there is not meant to be any.

In the dead of night we could hear them marching through the streets. We quickly turned off all the lights in the house, dare they knew we were occupying this wretched place. We weren't fast enough though. They tore down the doors and acting as a band of wolves they surrounded us. We all dropped to our knees. Barely recognisable through the dirt and rags covering our bodies they looked through us, deciding which one to torture first. I was the unlucky one. As they grabbed me by the hair and drug me out from the group I struggled to look back at them as if it'd be my last time. I laughed a bit. I knew it would be. They finally let go and the one man bends down and gives me a good looking over. He doesn't see a human being anymore, just trash. I try not to breathe too hard hoping in some weird way they might mistake me for dead, but that stupid thought ends quickly as he grabs my face and pulls me toward him. They all laugh and smirk around me and he looks at me while his grip tightens.

"Incy wincy or Itsy bitsy?"

I try to look away. I know I have two choices. I can either be honest to myself, or let fear take over and submit myself to their torment and fallen ways. I manage to look back at my family and see them, broken and in tears watching me. I know this is it for me, but in a final moment I commit to myself and to them that I won't stand for this place or this corruption anymore. Any shred of fear or defeat wash away from my face as I turn back to my attacker. My eyes fixate on his like a predator stalking it's prey. I take one final deep breath, knowing it's my last and I say with full confidence...

I've conducted a press search with a regional breakdown. Itsy Bitsy has a much larger media profile:

Interesting to note the regions - and the fact that the two visible examples of Itsy Bitsy that are from Europe are referring to tattoos.

(But also, I'm not sure this is something that particularly merits many news stories written about it!)

Worth mentioning that I've also seen the Incy version written Incey and even Eensy.
