Finished reading the rules for A Feast For Odin this weekend. I need to watch a playthrough because there are a lot of things I didn't really understand. Hopefully I can get my arms around it soon so I can give it a whirl.

Anything in particular that was confusing? I will say it becomes a lot more straightforward once you get the basics down. There are just a good many details to get into the habit of watching.

You should look into Oh Captain!. I found I enjoyed it more since it is easier to play and not as math heavy at the game. Probably more of a streamlined version but the cards have abilities.

I've never heard of that one before, I'll take a look at it! Thanks for the recommendation.

There's nothing wrong with picking up a Scythe expansion or Viticulture EE. They're both very solid games.

If you at all like Viticulture EE, Tuscany EE is highly recommended. It adds 4 seasons instead of 2 and I think it's basically a "best of" collection of Viticulture expansion stuff.

I love Scythe, getting the expansion was pretty much entirely because my group is usually 6 people and bumping Scythe up to that will let me get it to the table more often.

I'll look into Tuscany once I get Viticulture to the table a couple of times, it looks promising though.

I have a question about mage knight.
Can you "win"? Like, there's an end objective that you can reach and then you have the score, or simply you play till you die and calculate the final score?

The aforementioned conquering cities is the general goal. There are some variations to that. I recommend anyone looking to play it primarily solo or coop picks up a copy of the Lost Legions expansion which adds a roaming enemy knight to the board and a new win condition to go with it.

It's Talisman. I've had a really bad experience with it but some people like it.

I used to play the old edition as a kid and enjoyed it but looking back on it now it strikes me as baaically snakes and ladders in rpg disguise. So much of it is dependent on rolling the right numbers or getting kicked back to the start of the board. The end phases are just ridiculous for this, from memory. I don't play it because it's just not that enjoyable for me but like you say I have a friend who really loves it.

Would have jumped on the br expansion if I had seen it, saw spyfall but they were all claimed :(

Really wish I had looked into more games on Amazon while the prices were all freaky. Still got the X-Wing Core Set for free though. Assuming they fulfill all these orders that is.

I managed to snag Arcadia Quest Pets expansion for $15. Joke may be on me though because I haven't been able to get this to the table in a year haha.

Does anyone know if there's a site to get the Scythe realistic resources? Amazon has it for $60. Coolstuff has it for like $30 but it's preorder and says in stock in June. So dunno when it's actually in stock.

Thanks!

Everyone is out right now it seems. MeepleSource actually just had them within the last few weeks after having it say "Preorder/July" for a while, and they had them available for a while, but when I checked a couple days ago, i saw it says "Preorder-November," so they must have sold through their allotment already.

I got the board extension and coins recently from TopShelfGamer and know they had a pre-order for the resources, but when MeepleSource got theirs in, I checked TopShelfGamer (figured I'd order from them again) and the item listing completely disappeared from the site. It's back now but as a pre-order with an estimate of mid-August.

Damn I missed out. Prime glitch had $60 games at like $15-20. Bah.

I don't know last time this happen, I ordered bunch of stuffs and they ended up cancel everything. I have Terra Mystica for $15 and bunch of games for 10-12 and nothing was ever ship, it just sat in confirmation for days and then all just disappear of my order list. May be these people here will have better luck.

The mtg arena of the planes walker and expansions came up to $35 for prime day, jumped on them all since it seems like a fun way to jump into a heroscape esque game for cheap. Might also convince my "mtg ONLY" friends to play more games

I wonder if the solo rules could be used from Heroscape with this game. My wife would NEVER play it with me because it's far too PvP.

Btw I was at Dice Tower con and my fav game was the upcoming Godfather game. I really enjoyed it. Think of it as Lords of Waterdeep but you can kill other players' Meeples.

Probably been covered to death in here but I got my hands on Arkham Horror: Card game and it's soooooooooooooooooooooooo damn good.

So good, in fact, that I immediately bought the Dunwich expansion like a damn chump!

don't be mistaken this is huge news.

legendary deck building fantastic 4 is back in stock
http://www.coolstuffinc.com/p/192225

it was going for $150 because it was thought to be out of print forever.

it seems between this and the xmen expansion marvel is up for letting companies use their not fully owned IPs again.

Looking for a decently deep game that is fun with 2 players, but can scale up to 4 (or more, not really as important).

Caverna looks fun, anyone a fan or have something else that they would recommend over it?

I will always recommend Suburbia to people because it's an awesome game. But it's not a worker placement if that's what you're looking for.

Suburbia is another one I was taking a look at and your rec put it to the top of my list, thanks. And no, worker placement isn't a requirement.

It's such a fun game. Great for indirect competition, theme is SO good (I love city building), and there's some fantastic strategic decisions you can make as you learn the game. The expansions add more competition and some neat buildings, but I haven't found a reason to grab them yet personally. There are other great suggestions within this thread, but it depends on what you already own.

Anyone play Swords & Sorcery?

Is someone putting together an OT2 at any point?

The wife and I just got Scythe and it was a little... overwhelming, at first, but once you get all of the pieces in place and start working through it, it's actually really easy to understand.

We're having a blast, can't wait to get our friends involved!

Why worry about it until we're told we have to worry about it? ;)

Congrats. Scythe is a ton of fun. There's a lot to it at first glance, but it moves quickly, and with a bit of care of making sure you tell neighbours what you're doing, it's relatively straightforward. Definite a fav. How'd it play 2 players?

Tonight was a fun night. We played Coup twice with five people, Bang: The Dice Game twice with six, Blood Rage with 5 (I won, 161 points), and a four-player game of Pandemic. I haven't played Pandemic in a while and forgot how much I like it; I need to crack open Pandemic: Iberia now. I might need to finally try my copy of Flashpoint: Fire Rescue. A guy who was playing Pandemic for the first time said it reminded him of Eldritch Horror and said he'd bring it soon (if he doesn't, I can learn the rules for my copy and try to bring it and see if it makes it to the table).

For people that have played or have Anachrony, is it worth spending some extra on the Kickstarter leader box or should I just wait until next month and get the reprint. I love worker placement and time travel FYI.

Dunno about you guys but I feel like I'm gonna throw money at the Star Realms: Frontier kickstarter

I feel like I might be joining you on that. I recently backed 1066 so I have to hold off till the Star Realms KS is a little further along but I am a fan of the original game so I doubt I will hold off not getting it eventually,

Any Dark Souls players here?

I have a copy but I haven't played it yet. I've been waiting until some solid variants come out for the treasure deck. Seems like a few have surfaced, but I haven't been too itching to bust it out yet with all my other new games.

The minis are gorgeous, and the way the worker tokens slot into the top is awesome. But they take up a lot of "table space" and get in the way of the icons.

I have a question about legendary encounters : alien.
I've seen that one of the differences from Legendary Marvel is that you have a character with life points. What happens if it dies? Game over? What if you're playing with someone else?

You're dead. Game Over.

If there are survivors they can continue but being a player down is gonna ramp up the difficulty. Especially even more if you play with the playable aliens module that lets players take control of aliens when they die.

They are out of the game, unless you play with optional alien rules that have players become Alien players if they are removed from the game via implantation.

Predator Legendary is same game essentially, but has alternative mode where players can play as Predators and you are essentially playing for kills in a competitive style. Predator mode is kinda like playing Marvel Legendary, but playing as Humans is same game as the Aliens game... hence them being compatible.

How's the game itself, worth the investment?
It's a great game we played may be 5 or 6 games the last time we finally add the expansion stuffs. I think the miniatures are awesome and really bring the game to life but not necessary. It's a add on so if you enjoy thematic worker placement, core game will suffice.

My prime day glitch Blood Rage came, damn this box is massive I'm afraid to open it until I'm ready to commit an afternoon to learning it. My brother seems excited is BR good with 2 or should I try and drag some work people kicking and screaming?

It isn't really that massive and is a pretty easy & streamlined game. Never played it two player but you should get at least three people to play it. If your work people can play Catan, I'd say BR would be fine.
