Action Figure GAF |OT| Articulated figures murdered my wallet

TAJ

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
Marvel Legends Gamora arrived today and it's absolutely crazy how good this looks. I think this is the best looking Marvel Legends I've ever seen, the likeness of Zoe Saldana is like 90% accurate and all the paint is flawlessly applied. There's nothing out of place or chipped or warped. Was there sorcery involved in the making of this figure?

Apologies for the crappy phone pic. Don't have my camera with me right now.

I think I need Nebula now.

The crazy part is that since then they upped the resolution of their face printing far beyond Figuarts level.

Hmm.
I ordered the Revoltech Spiderman and Deadpool from Big Bad Toy Store over a month ago now and I'm still waiting for them but I had my pile of loot with Friday the 13th Part 3 ultimate jason and revoltech spider gwen shipped last week and it got here already.
:/

Hope those other two orders didn't get lost.
Really love the Ultimate Jason and Revoltech Spider-Gwen, though.

Her spider web accessories are a little difficult to fit into the peg holes on her hands, though.

Remembered the Karate Kid pose wrong :(

Nice looking figure but her unmasked face is so tiny D:

Aah, so that's how they did it. It is pretty crazy now that you mention it. I'm comparing Gamora to SHF Han Solo right now and it's amazing how Gamora looks like a better import figure than the actual import figure (well, the face does).

Hela is indeed gonna be amazing.

Someone needs to let the Black Series guys in on the secret, because that puts all of them to fucking shame.

Yup, the best Black Series figures are actually the ones with realistic interpretations of cartoon designs.
They struggle so much with the likeness or paint.
Honestly I'd take

over the 3-4x expensive Black Series(that looks like crap) any day

Kill me.

Anyone who owns the HT BvS Batman, check your figures. The suit is sticking to itself and if you move the joints too quickly you're gonna fuck up the suit. Mine was sticking in the underarm area but moving the shoulder joints out slowly it was okay. Just thought it was worth the warning.

Ugh, I'm about to redo all my cabinet ordering so I would've just re-positioned it without knowing, thanks.

Is there a reason HT seem to take so long to make figures? I feel their stuff arrives in an untimely manner worse than any other company. Doesn't help how fast Marvel releases movies.

It's just the way the business works. Sometimes unforseen problems arise during production and things need to be tweeked, or occasionally resculpted. There are a number of Japanese PVC figure makers that delay things regularly. It depends on how many teams they have, how long they're taking and if things are on schedule or lagging behind. There are a lot of variables when it comes to manufacturing figures.

It's kind of crazy that given how many star wars hot toys have sold and how many variations of figures that they never made a Poe Dameron. He's super popular. I wonder why they didn't.

That movie is going to bomb so hard. I'm still curious to see how the toys come out.

Early reviews say the movie is beautiful although lacking in substance. We all know that if anyone could do the source material and movie visuals justice it's Hot Toys, having said that based on past performances I'm not so confident we will get to see these on general release. There've been a number of other lines that I thought would've been more popular and made it to general release but didn't get past prototypes like Prometheus and First Class. Stranger things have happened though.

On the note of prototypes, I'd love to see some sort of an exhibition of the evolution of all the prototypes made by Hot Toys, those released and otherwise, but I guess due to licensing and other legal complexities that's unlikely to happen. For example something similar to the Batman 100% exhibition, which was more of an art showcase/collaboration and it was amazing.

I know, but don't most toy companies work with the studios these days to get them out on time? Like, by the time GOTG Drax came out the sequel was already released. And at this rate Hulk Buster will be post infinity.

Drax was a special case I believe. Licencing issues or something.

No Ep 7 Leia either?

It happens, though. I bought the BvS Wonder Woman statue that DC Collectibles put out. It came out literally ONE YEAR after it was originally supposed to. Not from the date it was initially solicited, the actual release date. It was just continually delayed until it finally released this past April. It took so long that they just swapped out the base and are also using it as the WW Justice League statue.

I went to see what remains of Queen and overheard someone afterward who didn't know who "the guy with the mustache" was, and thought he was actually onstage even though he'd only been shown as a 30 foot tall video image.
