No Winds of Winter in 2017. Most likely 2018.

*Insert some Misery GIFs here*

Remember when people were optimistic that this book would take less time than A Feast for Crows or A Dance With Dragons?

Just a few years ago he was saying Fire & Blood wouldn't be released until AFTER Winds. Now the first part will almost certainly release before Winds next year lol. It's almost like he needs a book out before the show ends, and since it probably won't be Winds "here you go, Fire & Blood Part 1."

He's juggling 4-6 projects at all times, running a theater, doing cons, etc. I agree he's a slow writer but the bigger problem is his time is constantly being eaten up by other things. So when he starts struggling with the story, he simply doesn't have the time to work it out. The stopping and starting and pausing and starting again simply is not working.

"A bad book is bad forever. A delayed book is eventually good, unless it is bad, in which case it is bad, unless it is good." --Stephen King

Basically. The time spent to write something isn't any sort of indicator on how good it will be. George proved that with ADWD already.

He probably shouldn't bring up his main series then, if all he's really writing is his procrastination projects.

Well, first off, nothing says that the side projects are all he works on, and every post on Winds he makes is "Still working on it", not "I haven't been working on it". But even if he hasn't and he doesn't mention it, do you think an announcement like this would be met with anything other than people braying "WHERE'S WINDS OF WINTER GRRM, WHERE IS IT" at him.

That's why these threads are so annoying. There is no appearance or announcement he can make that won't just circle back around to people bitching about book 6.

whats the book after WoW? And the one after that?

Show will be done before all that, spoilers will be impossible to avoid, and the fun of reading the book before the show wont exist

I'll be waiting for whenever that is.
Hope we don't get more people trying to seriously say someone else should write the rest.

But it's so important that everyone can repeat the "I don't care anymore" phrase in every topic.

You really think he is planning and organising the theater related things?
Regarding the cons, he really cut out alot of them and is barely out there compared to the years before.

there's only one book after WoW, "A Dream of Spring".

but technically they both don't exist and never will.

I've been physically laughing since the blog update was posted. Probably will not stop laughing by the time the episode finishes airing tomorrow. Send Help

So you're just requesting that these threads not be made then.

A bad book is bad always

Seriously though, I have confidence in grrm doing a great job with winds, and the wait doesn't bother me anymore tbh.

How many more plotlines are there in the books compared to the show. Haven't read them yet,
The main ones:
Theon's got two more uncles, both with perspectives. There's a lot more happening in Dorne. And there's another invasion force in Westeros that isn't Daenerys that I won't give details about because it's a big spoiler if you plan on reading them yourself. The situation regarding Stannis is a lot more complicated too.

I want to re-read the books, but I'm afraid I'll forget the plot lines by the time WoW releases.

I hope he gives us a few months heads up.

Now what's the next step in your master plan?

And Lady Stoneheart.

2015: "it's two months away"
2017: "if i'm lucky, it'll only be two years away"

Comedy clubs should hire this guy, he's killing me
