Peter was definitely out of his element, but he bodied Bucky and Falcon pretty handily. Just got caught up running his mouth and not minding his Spidey sense in the end. Bucky throws a haymaker at him, and regardless of how easy you think he was taking it or not, Peter should (and did) catch that and throw it to the side effortlessly. Aside from maybe Vision, he's physically the strongest character in the airport. Cap's just a better fighter.

Tldr; he's inexperienced as shit, as seen in CW and Homecoming, but the kid just needs to keep getting his feet wet.

Peter certainly has the powers to participate in these sorts of situations- he just happens to have next-to-no experience with them so far and is still just a kid at the end of the day... and his first real taste of such an experience is going to be facing the guy who everyone else has basically been preparing for (cognitively or not) since before he got bit by that spider.

Essentially Peter is one of those relatively lower-leveled, but rarer and popular Pokemon that you catch near the end of the game, while most of everyone else are veterans you've grinded up along the way.

Well, I mean when you compare him to the other Avengers, Peter is a relatively inexperienced teenage superhero being thrown into a cosmic war where the Final Boss isn't even in his final form yet and he's already OP as fuck.

I'd wager the robo-armor is there to (somewhat) even the odds and give him better protection- at least in Tony's mind.

He's fighting Thanos, the robo-armor is absolutely needed.

This is young spidey he going to need all the help he can get .
Plus Tony would want him as safe as possible fighting someone like Thanos .
