I think they can actually see the chests through walls

Some outlanders can. After you use your pick five times, you are in the zone, which means you do more damage with your pick, and you can see chests and anything lootable that is at least a green, through walls. You have to be fairly close to it, but with upgrades you can see things even further. Again, it's not every outlander, but it appears to be a pretty common ability, and will frequently lead you to attics and basements that have no usually access besides just chewing through the ceiling of floor. I found a pair of two vaults (one glowing purple, the other blue) cleverly hidden behind a pair of bookcases in a house.

Unrelated PSA: DON'T SLEEP ON UPGRADING YOUR SURVIVORS.

I got a llama from the collections page filled with survivor xp chips, so I decided to boost up the ones I had slotted. I went from 10 power to 14 in about four minutes. Huge upgrade. Do it.

I have empty gadget slots. I've checked my hero page, idk what the fuck the game is talking about. This is really the crappiest UI I have ever seen in a game.

I hate every aspect of the UI too.

Go to the map screen, and assuming you're in a lobby with people, click your character, and you should be able to click "Select Gadgets"

If you get a message about gadgets maybe try pushing. The gadgets button?
Dunno why you had to come back with this snarky reply after I'd already told him how. If it were that easy, he wouldn't have come in asking the question.

Can I craft and equip weapons from the menus without being in a map?

Also why in the world would they make a "Play" tab, "Map" tab, and "Quests" tab? Streamline that shit.

The 3 tabs serve different purposes. Play shows your campaign progression. Map lets you see all available areas to play in, including your outpost if you want to go there for any reason. And quests shows all your current available quests.

I am divided between builder and outlander. I would miss the concentration skill on the oulander, but builder have nice building perks that is what I mostly like to do.

I guess I play outlander to get matterials to build quicker and recipes for weapons and traps. Until I have a decent collections of recipes I will switch to defender (the fat lady).

I prefer ninja because I like to move around fast. Double jump and a higher base running speed are great. Plus ninjas have a few powerful offensive abilities, like dragon blade and smoke bomb. My current ninja you earn from campaign progression I think. It has stacking edged weapon damage which is great because my favorite melee weapon is the light swords.

Also keep in mind not all heroes of the same class have the same bonuses. They actually vary a lot.

I don't think players understand the tower building requirement in the tower buildings missions.....

Keep failing in PUGs.

maybe look for something more powerful, you should be able to take out ~3 normal husks with an assault for example

even more if you focus on headshots
My most powerful and ammo conserving weapon is a pistol. It takes down a power 19 elite blaster in a magazine easy but there are so many enemies and they have so much HP that in order to fight and kill things I need to mine a lot of parts. I mean the pistol 2 hit headshot the normal husks at power 19 but with the durability and amount of enemies it's a lot of management, at least it feels like that. Sadly I've yet to get any other good blueprints as LMG just seem like a huge waste in resources versus power.

I mostly top the combat board, sometimes with twice the score of the second place guy so the issue isn't really the killing part but it seems it's an issue due to being too aggressive and putting my head first in the fights as a soldier which seems weird.

How is the Storm Master Weapon Pack that comes only as a preorder?

If it is a solid bonus, I'll try to get the game during my vacation (somehow). If not, I'll wait a few days. Thanks!

Is anyone else getting a server errror when trying to load the tutorial?

I tried it at like 3 in the morning and again now, same thing.

I think I finished the tutorial as I am now on mission one?
Got level four loot??? Is that the preorder bbbus? Where are those pinatas?

I burn so many bullets a mission it's a problem with mats 🍆

From what I've read later on you have the ability to send survivors out to scavenge. I've read that they can come back with a couple hundred nuts and bolts making ammo less of an issue! But I feel you I ran out of bullets during a shield base mission and had to fail it because I didn't think I had any melee weapons, and no cars to get nuts and bolts from in shield base...

this was before I scavenged bushes and found out you can get a fairly nice stock if you check most of the bushes during a shield base mission!

Didn't ever have any problems with ammo and I'm always the one with most kills after the mission. You guys are not looting/destroying shit enough.

Is this on console? PC community seems competent. Have only failed the random mini mission where you defend some data thing.

I've notice no one bothers to search nook and crannies for treasure chests. I'm always building up high and going into attics, eventually my greed caught up to me and I almost died to a mimic.

No, there's a legitimate problem with using fully-auto weapons. They should have their own ammo type that has a reduced resource cost. As is, single shot weapons are significantly better.

In a few words....

Completely fucking useless.

It's 3 "rare" (not really rare at all) weapon schematics that will last you approximately an hour. A level 10 shotgun, rocket launcher and grenade launcher with some ammo.

Question: Can you buy the rare hero pack, the rare starter pack with the standard edition or the founders pistol? I am splitting it with a friend and he wants to know.

Not totally sure, but the STORE tab in-game allows you to purchase upgrades to higher founders version.

Also, I am loving this game. I like grinding when it is entertaining like this.

Gonna put so many hours into it. :)

Sound issues on PC, 5.1 setup

Bought the game on PS4, decided to have a go on PC seeing as it's cross buy. Definitely a better experience on PC, can run @4k60. However i am experiencing a sound issue ONLY on the PC version. I have a 5.1 setup and sound in the game that is supposed to be coming out of the L/C/R channels are coming from my left and right rear channels. It's bizarre, like gun shots from example lol. Booted 3-4 other PC games and issue is definitely not on my end. Played the PS4 pro Fortnite and sound is coming from the appropriate channels.

Anyone experience anything similar?

I have couple of questions that maybe asked before, don't kill me.

I only need to buy the game once for both PS4/PC right?

I like being a lone wolf in these type of games can i do that or is it heavily social game that you have to play with friends for enjoying it?

Where did you guys bought the game is there a cheaper option than official page?

You can solo the game, it'll take longer to complete missions as a solo player though. You'll also use up more ammo and weapons. I played through all of stonewood as a solo player in alpha, so I can say you can solo a large portion of the game. But I think I enjoy it more as a team player, because the matchmaking is solid and joining a random map (play with others option that shows up as a question mark on the map) gives you 20% exp bonus and you might end up with people having XP bonuses that give you a small amount... and you'll spend less time collecting resources since everyone contributes to the mission objective (even if not actual building resources, bullets + weapon durability etc).

I think early on solo is pretty fun. Later on as the challenge ramps, I wouldn't hesitate to play with others simply for time sake. Keep in mind, in alpha we didn't have expeditions to gather bulk resources so it's probably even more feasible now. So the answer is yes, you can lone wolf, but the game gives plenty incentive to team up even just with randoms and it turns out to not be bad after all.

More fun with good friends I would assume, I've been lone wolfing and enjoying it. On PC the community seems more competent so playing with randoms is pretty lax. I'd give you one if my codes but if you want to lone wolf it will be harder with no extra bonuses.

I love the gameplay loop of this, but the rest of it is way too convoluted for its own good. It's a lot of fun when playing a mission. Outside of missions though...

This is the clunkiest F2P game I've seen, there are just too damn many systems or grind treadmills in place here and the menus are garbage on console at least which makes everything feel even MORE clunky.

The worst part of this game is playing with friends lower level than you. The rewards aren't worthwhile at all, considering you're depleting all your high level weapons of durability just to help them out.

What's the general consensus on this game? I've got a friend who has it and really wants me to get it too, but it's not really the type of game I'd pay full price for (and there's just a lot of other games I think I'd rather buy right now).

Also, now that it's out has it been confirmed that buying this on PC/PS4 grants a key for the other platform?

I don't think that having many systems, or avenues of progression, make it clunky. In fact, I think they're smart as hell having so many ways to progress. And it's honestly not that difficult to manage once you've familiarized yourself with each system. I can see how they could use better tutorials to explain the systems perhaps, but I never had trouble learning it all.

I think a huge part of the game for a lot of players is the collection aspect. You collect a lot of things and they're all meaningful in some fashion, from your common weapon schematic you'll never touch to even getting multiple legendary schematics of the same weapon but with different bonuses, so one gets put in your collection book or you can recycle it. I think you nailed it on the gameplay loop, it has to be fun to make the collection part of the game fun to keep progressing through.

Just use random weapons you find, or cheaply made schematics. You don't use your 2 star stuff on stonewood, or even high level stuff in a 5 power zone. Keep in mind they can also complete quests in areas outside of their power level so they can join you on a harder mission.

This might get the win for fastest I've ever dropped a game. I played maybe 6 hours on Friday, and every time since then, when I boot it up, I mess around with the menu and quit. This game needs work, which sucks, because I like it. I just don't have the patience to figure all this shit out.

That's why it's early access.

Give feedback and time for the devs to flesh things out. Tell them here or in their forums what you'd like to change

I haven't been stopped from playing due to any sort of energy system. Where does that comparison come from?
I can play to my hearts content and make meaningful progress towards the main story without barriers.

I purchased the standard Xbox edition. Wanted the super elite for the extra key. Refunded the standard and got the super elite or whatever. How do I get my extra key? Sorry if it's been answered

Mmmmmmmm. I installed the game. How do I give my friend my standard code on PC?

And why can't I see my friends list on the main menu? It says I have to complete the tutorial and I did.

This is just ridiculous. I bought the game, installed it, and my friend has been waiting for me to install it, do the tutorial, and has been waiting for me for an hour. The game does not let you access the main menu to give him the code until you beat the tutorial. And it does not email you an extra code key.

To give friend code hit start on the main menu to bring up the menu scroll to the left and you should see Friend Invites you click that and it'll ask you to choose a friend on your friends list to send it to them. That how it was at least on PS4 and I assume it's same for Xbox since it was the same way they did it with Paragon.

As for completing the tutorial before you can send friend code you just have to finish I believe it's the third mission and then you get your first llamas from the game itself and once you open them you can send your friend codes.

Finish first two tutorial mission, then press Options (dont know which button on xbox) and there you can send them invite (second copy).
