Oh yeah, the X1X will be the next iPhone. Just you wait.
A Ferrari and a VW Beetle for the same price. What sells better? Don't be fucking daft.
I think he was being sarcastic...

I don't believe that contributes to the MAU number. I may be wrong, but I think that number refers to gold/silver Xbox one/360 logins and W10 logins.

Suppose Just Cause 3 were released in 2018. PS4 version runs like crap. PS4 Pro version runs... better. But the XBOX version runs flawlessly. I think there's a potential market for people who want to play games that don't run like crap, but don't want to buy a PC.
That's... I think that's one of the worst comparisons I've ever seen on GAF.
PSVR hardware sales also need to be subtracted from Sony's revenue numbers in this case.
I think there's a difference between having an Xbox live login required to play the game on Xbox servers and having actual Xbox live installed on the device. You aren't installing Xbox live on a phone or a switch when you want to play Minecraft. You aren't seeing the ads or purchasing gold memberships. You could say that MAU for Minecraft are different from MAU for Xbox live. Why wouldn't it? Microsoft had a lengthy stage presentation of earning Xbox Live achievements on iPad at their Xbox E3 briefing last year. Why would that activity not be included in MAUs? It is/was required only for Realms, so that would somewhat explain why the growth was small.
For anyone who think X1X is niche product because of the price, you don't want to be this guy.

Lack of investment in new titles doesn't effect their revenue one bit, on contrary, revenue goes up.
There's a much bigger market for Xbox One X compared to Xbox One S.
See I have an issue with this. Getting harassed, really? Do you mind showing me the posts in this thread where Matt is getting harassed? For my posts in here I was looking to get clarification on what he meant as he himself said he was stating facts, not opinions. Surely on a discussion board you're allowed to question peoples posts and comments.
You really dont think it was obvious you were trying for some gotcha moment with the way you were responding to Matts posts in this thread.See I have an issue with this. Getting harassed, really? Or does this suit the narrative you are trying to push of users being harassed by the big bad fans of Xbox?
I would have thought most people who have been here for a while wouldn't hang on every word an 'insider' says as gospel, unless it suits the agenda you are trying to portray of course.
Dammit. I usually can tell, kinda..lolThese posts are well done trolling for comedy value:
This post is simply delusional:
It's a subtle difference.

Plus I don't think they've come out and said they were changing what they considered to be MAU. Previously it was xb1/360, W10 and windows phone(which is dead).
Finally let's just say their are ~30 million Xbox ones out there, 80 million 360's( of course that doesn't mean people are still playing) Minecraft has sold over 122 million copies, W10 has large usership(peoplenbasicaly logging on). MAU number usually hovers around that 50+ million range. Including Minecraft numbers doesn't really make sense from a numbers perspective
I can't wait to see what Phil Spencer has to say about this when he inevitably gets this video brought to his attention on Twitter.

I have this feeling that they took it very personally when XB1 became known as the lesser console so they wanted to double down on the system itself and make it the most badass console they possibly could. This way they could lay the ground floor on a much better piece of hardware and build the future first party software on top of it. I'm not "scared" of what's going to happen to Xbox's exclusives and I still think that Phil is the right guy in charge. I'm just curious to see what they announce after the X comes out. That's when things will start to get super interesting.
Shouldn't things be super interesting *when* X comes out and not after? MS had E3 and didn't show much. If you're already an Xbox fan that's fine but there wasn't anything shown that will attract new users to X1X

I think having the most powerful console, 360 & OG Xbox backwards compatibility, the only console with a 4K disc drive, along with the known exclusives will push a number of people over the edge. Now that 4K Tvs are getting cheaper, more people are buying them and they would want media to support it. If I look objectively at XB1X and PS4 Pro, the Xbox is absolutely the more capible machine for all 4K media and the one I would buy with a new 4K screen.
That also doesn't include the known, but not seen, future exclusives like Halo 6, Gears 5, Horizon 4, Rare's IP, etc that we all know are coming.
It's just the old "there's nothing I want to play, so no one wants one" rhetoric.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA..... That's gotta a be the low point of this thread.
MS cerrainly don't seem to be investing in exclusives like they used to. That's bound to make Xbonx a more unattractive proposition.
Usual lot, you get a sense for them after a while. Easy to ignore. Will be fun during 1X launch though, postive buzz for the console, do look forward to that."How to spin a good news for Microsoft into a negative news" the thread.

Well, your post is certainly a contender.
Is a 3% increase in gaming revenue good or bad?
I know people who buy consoles later in a generation are less likely to buy a lot of games but they probably have 20-30% more Xbox Ones on the market?
"How to spin a good news for Microsoft into a negative news" the thread.
Yeah, how dare people talk about obvious not so good points of a financial report. We have to celebrate no matter what.
Revenue increased? Hallelujah! Only a 3 percent increase while console base increased 20+%? Who cares.
Software slightly up? Hallelujah! Hardware way down due to less Xbox One consoles sold in a whole quarter than PS4 just sold in one month? Who cares.
Let's also ignore that a profit number is nowhere to be seen.
Microsoft's CEO Satya Nadella said:Our gaming business is now more than $9 billion, and growing profitably

While that is of course important for Microsoft I'm sure they are very aware of the negative points brought up here and are also concerned about them too.Let's ignore this?
we all know profit number wouldn't change your or some other peoples here opinion, so I'm not sure why you say that like it would change anything other than a few points in your story but the ending remains the sameLet's also ignore that a profit number is nowhere to be seen.

massive profit? MS isn't investing in first party games that's why the profit is so high, they are spending so little and giving up on xbox
small profit? Xbox is doomed, why would MS even keep the xbox division running if it's only making that much? doesn't seem worthwhile
taking a loss? just close up the xbox division MS
Dude, it's a company. Xbox is not your friend. Defending a company like this is ridiculous. Xbox as a business has seen better days, Sony beats them handily. Hardware revenue is down due to the Xbox S not selling despite approaching discounter prices. That's not good. What is good is the digital revenue being up. Meaning the people who do buy an Xbox One are more inclined to spend money on digital games and revenue. That's a huge advantage, as it strengthens brand loyalty and the ecosystem itself.
Doesn't mean people can't point out this isn't that great overall.
Relax man, we know Sony's gaming division is likely making more money and selling more consoles than Xbox. I don't know why you're so up in a tizzy. The world isn't gonna end tomorrow, Sony is still the leader don't get your knickers in a twist
I'm also not sure who you're talking to with your "defending a company like this" comment because I literally never defended MS at all, infact, I haven't even said anything specifically relating to the topic at hand let alone "defend" them over something. Unless you think calling out fanboys who shitpost in every xbox thread no matter what it's about is defending MS?
Also to the bolded, yeah, that's what happens. You discount a price, you do typically make less revenue off that product. I don't know why this is such a shock to you.
.This fell by 29 per cent year-on-year, mostly due to lower prices and a decline in the volume of consoles sold,
So is the Xbox division profitable now? Tons of inverstors were calling for Microsoft to abandon the Xbox just a couple of years ago. Glad they didn't.
Tons of investors you say? You have a source for that?
That's what happens when you announce 2 consoles at the same press conference.
Lmao... This thread is hilarious.Warriors on Twitter?
Lots of percents, no actual numbers.
Hmmm.
Lmao... This thread is hilarious.
Yeah, fuck numbers. How dare they perpetuate this very normal practice that every single business uses, fuck Harvard, Oxford and every single university that teaches this is how you're supposed to measure KPIs.
