I think that every major Nintendo-related release this year will break the million in its first month. Except maybe Fire Emblem Warriors.

So Switch already sold a 1/3 of the total Wii U sales in 4 months. And there are stock problems worldwide... I wonder how many Switches would have been sold if there weren't such problems.

I don't know how many Switches have been sold with Splatoon 2, but I think Nintendo can outsell more than 10 million Switches this fiscal year.

Really happy for ARMS. Is the game worth for single player? I'm not an online fan.

And Breath of the Wild... This game is wonderful!! And deserves more sales.

2.76 million, meaning they sold 1.96 million Switches over the last three months.

Basically, if Nintendo wants to hit its 10 million target for this year, they need to up production.

this is where they probably had expected a ramp-up to the holiday season in particular. 2m this upcoming quarter (because splatoon), means 3m for the remaining part of the year would be really super easy and fairly consistent.

you're right they do need to up production big-time though. i think we're well past the point of 'is this thing a hit or not' and firmly in the realm of everyone needing to get on the same page about its success.

It's gonna be really interesting to se FIFA's performance on the system. That's gonna be the first big test for third parties imo. The userbase is there with nearly 6 million Switches sold at the time FIFA comes out and the early previews were positive across the board. I really can't see a scenario where that game doesn't ride the wave of success Switch is having right now.

I think so, where it really shines though is with a friend!

Single player in ARMS consists of arcade mode, that's it. It's thin. I'm not an online guy either, until Nintendo tempted me back. ARMS party mode and Splatoon 2 are really fantastic experiences online.

You can play all of the Versus modes in single-player, as well: 1v1, 2v2, 3-way, 4-way, Skillshot (1v1, 2v2), V-Ball (1v1, 2v2), Hoops, 1v100, ARMS Test, etc. All of them earn you currency for the ARMS Getter to unlock 30 new arms per character, too.

Sonic is more or less guaranteed i believe. The fanbase resonate a lot with the IP.

As long as it is not Sonic Boom lol.

My only concern with Mania is that it doesn't really have a retail presence (outside of the Collector's Edition). I don't know if it can hit a million downloads on the Switch.

Single player is basically an arcade mode. I wouldn't buy it just for the singleplayer. However Arms is a really fun party game so if you have people to play with locally its definitely worth it for that.

Too many threads about the sales/financial result, I didn't know in which to comment.

Great performance so far for Switch. Impressive attach rates for Zelda and MK8D and Splatoon 2 seems like it will also get up there pretty soon.

ARMS broke a million, so that's also good news for Nintendo.

So glad ARMS is doing well - such a great game!

Really happy with the Switch so far. Nintendo has a massive hit on their hands with this one.

I thought the 10m was their target for the FY, not CY?

It is. 1.96 million for this fiscal quarter. They essentially need to hold that sales pace, which is quite doable. The issue is production. If that 2 million is the limit of Nintendo's production, then to hit the target, they need to boost production for the holidays to reach the 3-4 million need for that quarter.

I don't understand how ARMS has sold that much given the figures we know.

For June NPD it sold about 250k including digital.

Japan physical was around 150k last time I checked?

UK it sold less than 15k in June. France it debuted at number 1 but quickly slipped below Zelda and MK8. Germany it didn't set the charts alight.

Where are all these extra copies coming from to get over a million in two weeks?

1.18 million shipped not sold.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
1.94 millions is quite more than what I was expecting going by US+Japan numbers (1.6 - 1.7 millions at max). A very good result consdiering how supply constrained the platform is.

13.6M total softeare
-3.92M Zelda
-3.54M MK8
-1.22 1-2 Switch.
-1.18M ARMS

That's ~ 3-3.5M of third party software for 4.7M consoles.

Not really good this part...

I...don't understand how we can judge it as bad considering the kind of support the platform has received so far, between niche games, late ports of Holiday family games and indie titles. I'd even consider it a positive outcome due to the current circumstances.

If they didn't include WiiU numbers(which should be at least at 1m) - but they likely did.

They didn't. Switch BOTW was at 2.76 million after March, Wii U at 1.08 million, adding to 3.84 million. They mention BOTW Switch shipped 1.16, coming to 3.92 for Switch, and 1.08 million or more for WiiU, adding to over 5 milliion.

Yeah, 3+ million sales for the kind of third party games Switch has seen so far is actually amazingly good.

FIFA and Mario+Rabbids will be the first real tests for that.

Is currently staging a hunger strike outside Gearbox HQ while trying to hate them to death
Any word on Rime or Yooka-Laylee release dates? Been saving them as they seem perfect for the Switch.

Oh wow that's great then.

I dunno if ARMS selling 500k of their 1.2 million shipment is all that impressive. Seems like Nintendo's expectations were a little higher.

It's starting to look pretty conclusive that Switch is a legit 'Wii U 2nd chance' machine.

Be interesting to see how much better PlatinumGames' Wii U titles do this time round, assuming they're coming, that is.

Maybe my math is off, but I'm still not seeing why they need to up production to meet their 10m.

4.7 from March to June (1.96 of it this quarter)
1.96m x 2 remaining quarters this calendar year = 3.92m
1.96 for Jan-March 2018 (end of fy)
Isn't that 10m+ just from keeping the current pace?

Japan + US = World? There's more to it than that.

Because they want to hit 10 million between April and March, not including the launch month (which is in a previous fiscal year). So, 1.96*4 < 8 million, which would be well shy of the 10 million mark.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has a 92.7% attach rate in the Western markets. Also, if we include the Nintendo Wii U version the game has crossed the 5 million mark worldwide. These are some crazy stats.

Overseas

Nintendo Switch - 3.58 million

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - 3.32 million (92.7% attach rate)
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - 2.85 million (79.6% attach rate)
