where the fuck even is ghost? 2 episodes in one can argue that they retconned the fucker right outta the show

Bryan Cogman, the writer of last episode, tweeted that they filmed a scene with him for last episode, and that it got deleted.

The problem with animated wolves is that they never look good on screen. It is much harder to make them look realistic than dragons.

The Grey had a nice mix of practical and CG. It's not entirely convincing, but it's infinitely better than what the show has. They don't really have an excuse.

I always just assumed they used a real dog for Ghost. He really isn't that big.

Edit: Well I guess it depends on the scene. At least I don't remember him big so big.

The GoT Direwolves aren't CGI though. They're real wolves, based in Canada, that they shoot against green screen and composite into the shot with actors. CG is used to enlarge and tweak with CG elements like colouring Ghost's eyes. In some scenes, the actors fly out to Canada to film the scenes with their wolves.

This is entirely difference from Dany's dragons which are 100% CGI, which require extensive work to animate etc.

The issue with using the Direwolves is a logistical one, having to fly out to Canada specifically to film scenes with the trained wolves. If they were CGI creations, they would be in the show more often.

The problem with CGI wolves is that you end up with something like this -

From Twilight, and the legendary Phil Tippett. If Phil can't animate wolves properly it's a good sign that they're a serious problem to deal with. If they had done this from the start it would have been less of a deal but their budget was so small back then that we didn't even get to see Robb win any of his victories... and Robb and Grey Wind were said to be something to behold on the battlefield. Jon himself said that Robb was better at everything than he was/is, so it would have been amazing.

So we never really could get these awesome scenes without sacrificing a hell of a lot more. Phil had massive film budgets to help him and his studio, too, much more than HBO spends per episode, even more than they spend for an entire season.

Am I the only one that wants an entire episode of Samwell peeling those stone scabs off of Jorah?

My sister's a nurse and she'd be right there with you. Some of the reactions I saw online had some people covering their eyes during that scene. It's odd what will digust some and not others!

I'm really hoping that we might see a new side to Jon in next ep. Which is why I hope he doesn't bend the knee. Last season was about him being dead inside and loosing all hope, only to be "reborn" in the end.

I wanna see King Jon. A man with control and weilds authority. So I really hope the writing is up to the task. Ill be disappointed if we get the same old Jon who gets kicked around and just broods about it.

This. The direwolves are played by real wolves but made to look bigger with VFX.

The logistics is a big issue when shooting a TV series, especially when dealing with animals. They had to fly to LA just for the bear scenes in season 3.

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
We're going to get the same old jon who's a doormat and broods about it, i mean that's kind of the whole point of his and Sansa's conflict. Sansa learned the "Game of Thrones" from Cersei and Littlefinger. Jon is in full "honor tradition rah rah rah" mode because it's all he knows. It's going to come to a head at some point and one of them will probably die.

That was Arya's wolf from season one. It ditched her because it doesn't recognize Arya as a member of it's pack, nor does it accept Arya as a Stark. Either that or Arya is actually the Waif.
Can't be the Waif. I guess she wouldn't have known Hot Pie if that was the case, nor would the waif have any motivation for killing the queen.

The former. You can see one of them was hanged using her whip.
Wonder what they're gonna go with them then, doens't seem to be much left for them to do plotwise. Earlier in the series I wouldn't be surprised if we saw them being sex slaves or something but after the Sansa rape backlash we'll probably see something a lot less out there.

Likely just saved as a gift for Cerci given they killed her daughter.

Well remember Ellaria killed Myrcella out of revenge for killing Oberyn, who in turn wanted revenge for his sister who was raped by and had her children killed by The Mountain.

If Cersei is really the fucked up person she appears to be, she might just let history repeat itself and let The Mountain have a go at them :/.

Even after the Sansa rape backlash we still had implied rape of Septa Onella by The Mountain in Season 6, so it's not completely out of the question.

Either way Cersei is gonna want revenge for Myrcella. I'm more interested in knowing what Euron is planning with Yara.

That would make it the go to thing Cersei done to any woman that crosses her.

I don't understand the rape backlash at all. This is fucking Game of Thrones! It's been super violent and fucked up since day one. People get their cocks cut off, people are fed to dogs, children are burned alive!

The mountain is going to rape those women with his monster undead cock and I hope they show it too. This is Game of Fucking Thrones people...

I don't get it either. It never portrays rape as something good. It's just rather common in this fantasy-medieval world.

It's bullshit writing when used to make a woman "stronger" though. They did it with Sansa and her rape by Ramsay. Cersei, idk, she's always been rather fucked up.

Ofcourse, but doesn't mean I have to like it. I am not saying its awfull or anything it still hapens today anno 2017 and it most certainly happened during the medieval ages but doesn't mean I like seeing it.

Aww, I didn't catch this detail.

Fuck the Boltons.

Oh wow...

I keep wondering how they will take out the Mountain, would be hilarious if they just had a dragon bite his head off lol but we need that Hound/Mountain fight. I don't think anyone stands a chance in a one on one fight though and I don't want to see another character I like killed by that monster.

I did a quick rewatch of Ned Vs. Dayne and I noticed that Ned took possession of the Sword of the Morning. What the fuck did Ned do with it all this time? Did he burry it with Dayne?

Maybe Meera's dad has it?
"Thanks for the assist, Howland. Here have this neat sword."

As show watchers we have no idea what the sword of morning is. That's book talk.

Jon isnt going to take a knee, its obvious. That is why they made Dany say "and take the knee" so forcefully.

Jon will rock up, not take the knee, and tell Dany he isnt going to join her war. Bank on that.

also, melisandre looked very different this episode. Like she was CGI.

He refers to Dayne as the Sword of the Morning.

I didn't get that at all. The sword is kinda prominent and focused on. This being a world where people name their swords too... you could be right, but I lean more towards that being the sword's name. Anyway this lead me to think it was probably another VS sword. It'd be cool if it was being kept somewhere safe for Jon or someone to find.

Jon already has a Valayrian Steel sword doesn't he?
