I am a bad driver, and have been pulled over 20+ times this year

Hello GAF, today I paid off one of my traffic tickets *speeding they say* and decided to check my rap sheet on the world wide internets, and I noticed I got some odd 20+ pull overs in a year.

A lot of these were small petty shit like not signaling or California braking after a cop has tailed me for 5 damn minutes. It just keeps going, I knew I saw those lights a lot, but I didn't actually think it was this often. It comes with being a black driver in the souf. Anyone got a cheat sheet for avoiding pull overs? Tint only increased me getting pulled over.

Be cognizant of your position in relation to cops. Seems like your careless. I have a sports car that stands out with limo tint. Just drive smart.

Get better at driving? Like why are you not signaling, or coming to a full stop at stop signs? Laws exist you know.

I mean eventually you will be saving money because you can't drive once you accrue enough points and the state revokes your license.

Examine your own driving behavior and consider the possibility of discrimination. If you don't think you are being targeted in a discriminatory way, then you're probably a bad driver.

I always speed. Never get pulled over.

And three criminal traffic? What are those? Reckless driving or something?

what's california braking? never heard of this. i've never been pulled over.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say this is when you don't break completely at a stop sign. I've never heard it called that term though.

i've only been pulled over once in my life (i'm 31) and that was only because I was going 20 over in a rural area (was moving to a different state) and I was trying to make the 19 hour drive a little shorter

if you've been pulled over this many times, maybe you should evaluate what you're doing behind the wheel

Failing to signal is just bullshit they use to generate revenue for the municipality. You should always signal though. So it's one of those money grabs they can do because people generally don't mind when it happens to other people.

I got pulled over going 80 in a 55 and for accelerating too fast from a red tha turned green. Shit happens. Pay the fine and don't do the shit that got you fined.

I get far more tickets for parking in a non designated spot in the train station. Thankfully enough people complained that they stopped doing that.

We call it a rolling stop, we all do it, just not when a fucking cop is behind us.

Also, OP, how the fuck do you still have a license? In Michigan our points last 2 years and if you hit 12 your license is suspended and minor offenses are usually 2 points.

I have never been pulled over in my life and have 55,000 miles on my car.

Sounds like you need to get better at driving honestly. Consider getting a GPS that tells you the current speed limit if you have trouble with that; Garmins do that and it's very helpful to avoid getting dinged by cops or speed cameras.

You've been pulled over more times in one year than I have in twenty plus years of driving. I'd say there's something wrong there.

I think it's slowing down but never coming to a complete stop

If you do that in front of a cop, you're cordially inviting a ticket and fine. Who does this in front of a cop after being tailed for five minutes?

I'm white and I'd have found a gas station or something if a cop had been randomly following me that long.

Yeah IDK why someone wouldn't be on their absolute best behavior when being tailed like that. Of course you'll get pulled over when doing it in front of a cop. Lol. So definitely a bad choice by the OP.

i know somebody that got a ticket for not stopping for 3 seconds at a stop sign. when they want to give you a ticket they will find ways to do it.

I've been to traffic school so many times they greeted me by name the last time I showed up. Like someone remembered me and they said that's a first.

I think I did a full stop but he said otherwise and its my word against there's, so by law, I violated traffic.

I used to get pulled over constantly when I still owned a car and it was a sporty two door with aftermarket wheels. I might as well have put a giant sign on top that said pull me over because it was relentless. I knew it was going to be that way though and just never gave them a reason to actually ticket me.

Also, the police here actually admitted a while back that they look for and follow young males in pickup trucks because they commit the most traffic violations. Whenever I borrow the family truck while visiting I always drive extra careful to avoid giving them any reason

Point being, either your car and age makes you a target... or maybe you are a terrible driver.

Also it's California roll.

If you got a tint in the front windows, take it down.

Always assume you're being tailed by the coppers.

Stop California rolling.

Make sure your tags are current, try not to still be riding when it's the month of expiration. You're supposed to get a month of leeway, but you know cops.

Make sure there's someone on the road driving worse than you. Lowers your chance of getting stoppd.

Wait, how are you still driving? You don't have too many points on your license after being pulled over 20+ times? This is a fake thread right?

Your police department relies on ticket income for funding, so people in your town get pulled over more often.

Or, your local police department is overzealous with their traffic enforcement.
Or, you are a habitually reckless driver in denial.
Or, a city official has a personal vendetta against your family.
Or, your speedometer is broken.
Or, Ashton Kutcher is playing the long game.
Or, your ex-girlfriend's father made lieutenant and is punishing you for breaking the heart of the only woman who has ever smiled at him sincerely.
Or, Chase Manhattan is experimenting with an innovative new savings account experience, unannounced shakedowns subcontracted to local law enforcement. (avg. return 4.5%)
Or,
It comes with being a black driver in the souf.

This as well, maybe it's different in California but most places I lived, you would have long ago accumulated so.many points on your license that they would have suspended it.

If the cops liked you, you would not have these tickets. Maintaining a healthy relations with the police is networking beneficial to your financial being.

Do you know why so many politician's with Dui's can still drive? Traffic school, It's the best invention ever for people who can actually afford what the court system does to us.

That's actually one of my violations lol, was the middle of my registration month. Other was an open container of hot alcohol, and the last was speeding near a construction truck.

I know being black and behind the wheel is hard and all, OP, but twenty motherfucking tickets in a year seems like you're way off scatter plot.

Perhaps it's time for some self reflection.

I've always gotten pulled over for making a traffic violation. Usually something dumb like not having my lights on during dusk. But cops usually just check to make sure the lights work and verify my license before sending me on my way. They don't even check insurance or registration usually.

Got a registration ticket twice in one day. First, cop pulled me over right after work and then gave me a bunch of shit because I had a ton of books in my car. He was like what are you doing with those books?

Then, in the evening, parked at my friends place. When I left to go home, another ticket waiting on my windshield.

When I was a teenager I was pulled over 20+ times. First name basis with one particular cop. That comes with the territory to being a punk kid who thinks his little shitbox is a race car.

Yeah, drive the speed limit, come to complete stops and always signal. People who don't do any of these things make the roads more dangerous for other people.

I mean I completely understand profiling, but you admit yourself the things you've done for at least some of these pullovers. Even if you assume half are because of profiling you could cut your tickets in half by just obeying the law lol.

I've only ever been pulled over twice in my 13 years of driving. Once for speeding (I was ticketed), and once for not having a front license plate (they're required in Montana). The license plate one I received a warning, and my passenger and I also got free McFlurry coupons at McDonald's because we were wearing our seat belts.

Yeah but even still, in Florida you can elect for traffic school to get your points removed for one ticket once a year a max of 5 times in your life.

I'm sure other states are more lax but taking it 10+ times in one year?

I'd never read a stealth "I'm really bad at driving" brag thread before, but here it is.

You shouldn't be on the road.

Uh, don't drive with an open container. It seems pretty clear that this isn't a profiling thing and you're just a shitty driver.

Signal, assholes. We're not psychic. And signal BEFORE you make your stupid maneuvers. PS you absolutely suck at driving.

If these are legit infractions then maybe stop doing them. If you feel you're being unfairly targeted by the police get a dash cam or something so you have evidence next time and can contest the ticket.
