Street Fighter V |OTVIII| New Delayed Generation - Controversial Inputs

You clearly how no idea how long I've spent with each game :p

Spacing a psycho inferno is a way to safely chip your opponent and even bait them into pressing a button that'll whiff from how far back Bison is. Yes you gotta use your brain and space it correctly, but when it's used that way it's useful. Scissor kicks on block aren't that great and they leave him a bit too close so I can understand why it's not really used.

ex scissor kick tho? with a 3f now? whew. bison is pretty much a walking + sign and I'm honestly totally fine with all of that. Even his bullshit dash. I'm fine with it. it's just.. ex dr needs to be fixed, that's it.

I've watched dozens of hours of footage of every top Bison player online and offline, and none of them use Psycho Inferno like that. All of the fires are -10 or more on block, so we're talking only being able to use this outside of poke range. And like I said, it's not a good gamble - a slight position change from your opponent means getting punished hard. I'd rather use Psycho Blast.

Anyway, I think after playing with GB last night I'm cool with moving on from the character. I don't think I'll ever enjoy him and I've been hanging on too long.

And if you're spent that much time with each of those games, admit that EX DR isn't even noteworthy in the grand scheme of fighting games. ;-)

That's the point that I'm going for, you use it at max distance, where their stubby ass pokes won't be able to punish it, then you whiff punish whatever button they press afterwards. You set it up this way, it's not a gamble unless the character has a CA that starts up really quickly or something, if all their buttons and specials will whiff, what's the gamble? Your opponent isn't changing positions because they're in a blockstring lol.

and nah I don't gotta admit shit, the attack is ridiculous currently and I can't wait for it to be fixed. Not necessarily nerfed, just fixed.

It isn't broken.

In a blockstring it's better to just use Psycho Blast H since it is +. I have done what you are talking about, though.

I didn't mind the dithering in the shadows, but thought it looked way cleaner today. Though it was a placebo effect...or my eyes since my glasses are fucked up.

Good to see it was actually fixed and not me imagining things.

Its most definitely a thing. And the chip from inferno is much greater , and it not being a charge move benefits its use in neutral. -10 isnt as bad as you think , if your opponent's sweep doesnt reach. Though i'll admit , even I only see Bison players start doing it recently. Wonder why nobody did it in S1 since it doesnt seem to have gotten changed iirc.

H Psycho blast can be jabbed tho I think and it being non charge move means you can walk forward and poke and use it in block strings. But yea its not really broken or anything.

Abigail vs. Cammy (lol)

I like this. The player did tell me he's bad against Day 1 characters and their gimmicks, but this is basically how Mika vs. Zangief looks, but on another level.
Yeah, I expect Abigail vs Cammy is going to be a big old buffer fest for her, since she can't compete with his buttons otherwise. But then there's that command run of his.

Man, Abigail looks like he's swatting a fly there.

I'd like to see how my Nash does against your Abi because I've been having a pretty easy time against him at my level using the same tactics I use against Gief.

I think Nash beats Abi pretty easily. Slow fireballs seem to be his bane. I fought against Floes Abi yesterday on stream , Lol it was pretty funny since I was watching the stream while queuing up. Suddenly am like wait a minute thats me lol. He turned off the stream after that match lmao.

If you have footage where Inferno is used consistently like this, I will gladly watch it. I admit I haven't kept up in the last few months.

I guess maybe watch SD Pnoys recent matches.? Honestly I only saw it being a thing recently. He used it one me at EVO and whiff punished my sweep , And Nash's sweep is one of the better ones in the game. He stopped using it after I realised I can use my Bazooka knee to punish it tho. But not many characters are going to have a 7f move with ridiculous range like zooka knee. So it might be matchup specific.

Its pretty good , coz once you condition the opponent that you can make it safe. They will stop pressing buttons after it , so you can go a 'little' lax on the spacing since they will be afraid.

I just fought Aby with Ryu and watched him roll through all my Hadokens.

You know what, fuck this game and everything it fucking stands for. My salt overfloweth right now

I've been doing alright against Nash, in the 214 matches I've played with Abigail. Seems like a bad MU, but b+HP is good against his FBs, and Nash doesn't have a multi-hitting one, so that makes the job easier.

Guile and Dhalsim is hell, though.

Abigail can't roll through Hadokens...?

The person in the vid 'Kim1234' is the same person i played multiple sets with at my local since I had to play a Bison at EVO.

We then hit training to see Nashs options against EX DR.He pretty much told me , you just have to guess to beat it with Nash. And the guess isnt in your favo. At certain ranges if you predict a EX Stomp->DR. You can Bazooka knee and then dash to maybe get out of its way. Otherwise , you are pretty much have to hold it.

The only good bisons I have fought is Kim1234 and SD pnoy , and of all of Bisons moves , thats the one move that puts me off so much. I can have control of the game so much until that fking move comes out. Its definitely annoying in neutral , and you dont need to react to a 2f gap. I am just saying it is an option. You cant always god for super tight 1f gap block strings , since it will lose to delayed teching.

For a person with "Bad defense" having a move like that and a 3f normal isnt half bad. When a good majority of the cast is also in the "bad defense" world.

Pretty much this, I dont mind bison even getting buffs to fix his issues if this move worked in a certain way. His dashes and all the other moves and fine , and needed for him to remain an offensive monster without any real ambiguity.

I actually said a few pages ago that most of the cast has bad defense. In S1 he had awful defense. In S2 he has mediocre defense. He has a few anti air options and a 3f but that's also not exactly special either. But to conclude our slap fight, ex dr is many things but it's not a defensive move.

?

Yea but B.HP is super slow recovery. I can whiff punish with Scythe or take a small risk and Jaguar kick to follow the boom.

I wanna take Abigail srsly now after seeing your cammy match lmao . Cammy Nash is a nightmare matchup.

It might not seem special on paper , but in this game its 'something' I guess. Though I blame the game more than the character.

And yea i'd say hes average or below average. But not terribad like some people make it out to be.

You almost got me thinking that Abby's cr.HK was projectile invul., and I was gonna go crazy. You must be talking about his -11 on block overhead.

-11 or not, it was definitely enough to either allow him to hit after doing a Hadoken if he timed it right, or get in easily (which was is something I don't want him to do either).

Every time I see a B-Boy Ryu, I'm just not gonna run it back, win or lose.

They all play the same, and it's the shitty ass "crossup and spam mp until you can hit the target combo" playstyle that makes you pull your hair out like the "ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK" Kens.

Man, I'd like to see that. I hope he was salty. I like Flo. Is it posted up anywhere? If I ever beat a pro player, I don't care if it was a day one character, their controller broke and then they had a stroke mid game, I'm making the biggest deal in the world about it.

so do you guys see Abby being a top tier character in tournament play?
In my opinion, no.

But then I wouldn't expect a Gief to have made top 8 at EVO either, so what do I know. Also, seeing what Flux did to that Cammy was kind of ridiculous.

I'm still going to say no for now.

I wouldn't be surprised if the biggest issue w/ Abigail ends up being his HP pool, given how there's a much lower band range in this game relative to SFIV.

Abigail can cancel the b hp into run or parry so it's viable enough I think

Them yolo Kens are the worst but also the best.

It's a stressful match but if you're on your toes and remain calm through all the fire, you control it.

I doubt we'll a ton of Abby players in Top 8/16, but I feel like a few will make it. So long as you aren't bottom ass tier, you have a decent shot. And even then, the bottom ass tiers sans Juri, sometimes Ryu, and Alex make it.

Free for Nash. When facing Wolfkrone's Abigail, I found out that his run mix up is a very bad corner pressure. And really cant run into his F.hp. The only real issue is that Moonsault is a useless against him.

And yeah fuck EX DR.

Yeah no, he was definitely doing some rolling kick through hadokens easily.

I'd say its a fair match :p , since that was literally the first Abi i fought after getting back home.

And why it the notion that gief is bad always there , lmao hes very good this season.

I was beating it though , maybe he has to cancel to EX Run? The armor comes on much later in the non EX one.

I mean you have Chun at top 8 too at EVO too.
Unless you character is ridiculously OP , you need a really good player representing that character , even if hes mid tier or something someone really good needs to play him srsly.

Chars like Chun,Nash,Gief have good rep regarldess of tiers coz of the players using them. Unless some pro really starts liking Abigail , I dont see it happening.

His Run->Kick?

Nah, it's gotta be his QCF (or maybe it's back) punch that makes him do a somersault punch overhead. I tried spamming that move in a match for science and it a Juri player cold on throwing out projectiles. I could have sworn that he had a kick that was similar, but I am not looking at that replay.

Edit: But if he has some armor or some of his moves, it could very well be that too

How does Abigail's parry work exactly? Can he parry multiple hits? Or does the chest bump just stuff multi hit moves?

When does the armor start on Abi's run? It seems inconsistent but maybe I just don't get it yet.

Armor from 3F while active (1 hit)

What this means is that the armor starts on the 3rd frame where Abby starts running, but not when he takes the pose. The armor ends as soon as you press any button for a follow-up, so it's not like Zangief's EX bear hug.

EX is the same, except Abby gains 1 hit. In V-Trigger, Abby gains armor as soon as he assumes the pose, so before he runs.

Frame 5, apparently.

The holding armor in VT starts on frame 3.

It's weird, because the official data says a lot of things. Like, for the kick follow-up:
Armor from 5F to 27F (1 hit)
So does he gain an additional hit, even normally, on the 5th frame of the overhead? Or? I dunno.

That was good. Great job. That was funny when he found out that you were watching, or listening anyways.

We play similar. You're like a more advanced me. I felt like I was watching a replay I will make two years into the future.

The only suggestion I would make is to knee thrust when he jumps over your booms and I don't know why but every Nash, including myself forgets to or refuses to v-reversal at times when in the corner.

Thanks, I kept thinking it only started when you held the button or something. He is definitely fun to use but since his moves are so unsafe up close I'm finding it hard to figure out his pressure compared to Mika.

You aren't going to make Top 8/16 of most tournaments unless it's a local with dudes who never played SFV before. You can run Balrog but it doesn't mean shit unless you are actually good you know? Maybe one of those Alex players can make the switch and feel what it's like to breathe freely.
