Cannot Get into Breaking Bad. Should I Keep Watching?

I thought it was really slow generally Seasons 1-3. And not just slow, but boring. Seasons 4-5 are the highlight.
Funnily enough, despite BCS being even slower, I think it has better first 3 seasons. More compelling character drama.

Season 1 is great, but I totally understand having trouble getting into it. If you have the attention span to power through season 2 and still don't like it, you should stop... but know that the show has INSANE payoff, and any moment you don't enjoy now will become retroactively more enjoyable. The show just keeps getting better, and never dips in quality. It's constant escalation. Season 1 is definitely the worst one, though I personally love it. But it's a character show, so once you start loving the characters, that's when you'll get addicted. It can just take time to warm up to them.

I don't believe you should consume any form of entertainment for the sake of it or because everyone else is talking about it. If it's appealing to you then by all means binge through it. If you've completed season one and you still cannot find the motive to continue instinctively, just stop watching it. I loooooove Breaking Bad, but I was hooked after episode 1. The series really does pick up pace much later on, although occasionally there is an episode that just isn't that great or worthwhile, but it's overall a really well made series.

I had problems with it to start as well. I powered through and was hooked by mid point of season 2. If you can't make it that far no worries. Just stop.

Season 1 is only 7 episodes, give it more time and keep watching into season 2, as it does build and keeps getting better as the stakes keep getting higher.

"Boring" definitely isn't a word I'd use to describe breaking Bad, even in the first season.
Maybe "slow burning," but not "boring."
Maybe dramas just aren't your thing?
Honestly, it didn't seem like the kind of show I'd get into, either, but the sheer escalation and "How's Walt gonna get out of this one?" kept me hooked.

Season 2 is when the show really takes off. I would suggest watching it for a bit longer, OP.

This is EXACTLY how I got started with Breaking BAD. Yes, keep watching. I was bored at first but I stuck with it.
Season 2 really picks up.

When I heard that BB was about drugs and crime, that sounded extremely boring to me and I didn't want to watch. I gave it a chance and found out it's not really about that at all, and it was completely enthralling. All the way from the opening scene.

I thought the first season was legit boring and almost gave up on the show.
Thankfully I didn't. It hooked me around the second or third episode of the second season.
It's such a legendary show I would at least give it 2 seasons. Unlike 99% of shows ever made, it actually gets better with every season.

Might not be your bag OP. I watched it but I don't think it was particularly earth shattering. There's got to be list of essential episodes list out there, if you can find it I'd only watch those.

But please stop watching shows because some guy made a list. Dip your toes in, and then watch the show if you think it could be good. In this instance, jump out and don't watch the rest. You won't be missing anything. I'm not saying the show is bad, I'm saying it won't affect your life or anything if you stop watching.

I love a lot of those but worse than the fact you're including shows that definitely are not as good as BB is that you're including shows which were much shorter or are still relatively young and still claiming they're better. By your own admission HoC was only good for the first two but you're claiming those were better than all of Breaking Bad?

Others may have an argument but your list falls apart by that time anyway.
I especially compared them with the first two Seasons of Breaking Bad, as I actually wrote it down. And I seriously don't see a problem comparing BB with Shows with only one Season out, because in the end it's important what I feel NOW about the Show. There is absolutely no reason for me not to count them.
Wether it has only 4, 8 or 10 episodes is just not important. The Night Of S1 has 8 Episodes btw...that changed a lot, amirite?
And yes, I wouldn't list HoC if it weren't for S1 and 2, which is the very reason why I wrote it down.
The Expanse is a great Space-Opera and I was longing for that. Enjoyed it a lot, don't care what you think about the writing.
I didn't even watch True Detective Season 2, becaus I had a lot of complaints regarding the cast.
