There's a 260K HP Archer boss, but that's a one time deal so you can blow Command Seals for that fight if needed.

Grind 30AP until you have the dangos to buy the first store version. Then grind the 5AP version.
You should be able to comfortably buy all the Monuments and Pieces from the store. But you're going to be bored out of your mind by endlessly replaying the 5AP version that way.
Also you're most likely going to end up with more Saber Gems and YggSeeds than you know what to do with.
I spent 80AP last night on Sparacus' second arrow (three caster lamias) trying to get a caster gem to drop and withdrawing if one didn't drop from the first two enemies. I didn't see a caster gem at all. Welp.
But yeah, I was doing that just because I was 500xp from leveling and I wanted to save my level-up refill for the event. Gonna have lots of AP to throw at it later tonight.

I was doing the same with Kiyohime's second arrow and didn't get a single Caster Gem in over a dozen runs. I'm done with it now, DW can keep the Quartz.
No mistakes.
so this is basically the guide? Grind 30 till you can buy from the store, then grind 5? Is it worth blowing any of your friend summons on the 3*?

I tried that during Nero Fest, and got a Snake Eye instead. No regrets. I'll just do the Friday 30 AP daily a couple of times. If the demon shows (probably 50% of the time), you get a caster gem (cept for the <1% you get a heart, in which case you probably aren't complaining?)
yes, assuming you haven't been spoiled on Archer yet, abandon this thread now until you're done the second route at least.

AFAIK the Japanese version didn't include the 3* CE in the FP Gacha, and I don't think they're changing it for NA.

I don't even bother farming for shields - aside from them randomly dropping during certain dailies or events I just wait for the login bonuses to accumulate.

You don't need archer gems.
You need saber, caster, and assassin gems, and all those drop from the event's farmable free quests. You can also farm saber and assassin gems now from just about anywhere.
You also need rider gems, and the event's story quest with rider gems is not repeatable. I think those are the only ones that you should go out of the way to farm now.
Depends on what you need really. If you want to clear the store then it seems like a good strategy, but you can actually farm hearts during this event so I'd recommend that if you need them for your servants.

This is going to be what I do. Need at least 1 more heart in addition to the quest rewards, then I switch over to grinding to empty the shop.
If you like the character,sure. Otherwise if you need an archer Robin fills that role just fine.

Before the end of the year we'll all be able to get a guaranteed 4* archer, if it matters.
Two more very good 3* archers will also be released with the next story chapter.

Filled my second archive with XP cards, need one more monument to ascend both emiya and orion...artemis?? (because of course I'll get her, I believe in the heart of the gacha cards) and I'm 10,000 short of a level up, now all that's left is for this event to hurry up...

So, I'm coming to the realisation that I need more Forbidden Pages. I'm also coming to the realisation that there doesn't seem to be any way to get them.
I did get all the ones from Nerofest, but I don't have enough to ascend both Vlad and Waver (and I kind of wanted to ascend some of the lower star casters as well).
I see some as rewards for the Gudaguda event, but none in free quests until London/Shinjuku. Is that really right that I can't farm them until then?
Are there any in any of the currently available interlude quests or anything? :|

After Okeanos releases, Edward Teach's interlude, which can drop pages, should be in the game.

I'm in the same boat as you with both a Waver and Vlad at 80 who will likely stay that way til Nobu. Waver needs 7 feathers (I upgraded Marie when he was still 70 without looking at what he needed for 90) and those are in Nobu too.
Hrm, okay. I do have him (and have now ascended him so I'll be eligible for the Interlude). Still not something I can get now, but having looked it up it does look like you get quite a few pages from it. That's something I guess. Cheers

Fwiw I think you can get feathers from the highest Thursday monster hunting quest.
I've done that quest a bunch since release and only seen one this whole time. Same with Reverse Scales and HoaFG. One of each. I'd rather grind exp cards and mana prisms, seems like a better use of stamina.

Similar situation for my Waver and Vlad as well. Though I do have enough feathers to get at least Waver to 90, but blocked by lack of monuments at the moment.

How does a crit team work exactly? Do you have servants that can all create a lot of crit stars, then activate a star magnet skill and buff the shit out of attack for a servant with high crit damage? I understand the concept behind arts and buster teams, but not sure about crit in general. It seems crits are the best way to do a lot of damage per round though.

It's basically you just have two critical star generators (servant with QQQ + lots of hits, Assassins are usually this role) and someone who can use those critical stars (either a very strong servant like Jalter or an Archer/Rider, since they have a higher star absorption rate). You basically just want to stack critical stars until your star user can blow the enemy up.
Gilgamesh is an example of someone who can be both a star generator and a star user, but you definitely want a dedicated star generator. This is why people want Jack so much, she's a QQQ 5-hit Assassin whose passive generates 10% extra critical stars. Her abilities also make her a good support, with a fairly strong heal and an enemy buff remover.
The user doesn't have to be a super hard buster hitter, either. Critical hit generate double NP, so if you have a strong NP Arts Servant you can quickly get that NP up.

The reason why crit teams work is that they don't have to be quick teams (and haven't been for a long time in Japan, apparently - QQQ star generators basically peaked with Jack).
Stars can be generated with anything from active skills, to CEs (one of the best CEs in the game does nothing but this), to buster or even arts cards with high hitcount. And since crits help refill NP, the line between arts team and crit team blurs a lot.
Crit teams can be based around anything from two support units with star-generating CEs to a single servant loaded with skills that generate stars (maxed out, of course). There will be many options.
