Yeah I know they discontinued it, but until that poster mentioned it I forgot it was ever a thing.Theyve discontinued it , and they have since bought Mine raft

Besides the fact it plays extremely well?
tbh the way the game has been demo'd recently, i think it's kinda hard to know if that's true or not. unless of course a bunch of celebs playing the game badly at SDCC is proof of it or something?
it's just been handled poorly so far. revealed too early with a CGi trailer. an initial focus on it's cloud based destruction which is only in the MP. sporadic test footage showing off bad animations and poor destruction...and then about a year of radio silence. and when it's re-revealed they cut together a crappy trailer with average visuals and demo the game using non gamer celebrities at SDCC...and now a delay.
things couldn't be going worse for this title
Looks like they listened to the feedback. Probably not a good idea to launch the 1X with a game that doesn't look great (even if it plays great).
Eh. External development can work really well. Two of Microsoft's highest rated games this gen, Ori and Forza Horizon 3, were made by external studios.
My take on it is that they've been severely hurt by poor management and stricter budget restrictions. Chasing the GaaS market was a huge mistake imo. Just look at what happened to Lionhead.
Probably not a good idea to launch a console without any 1st party games either. They're really banking on the hardware and 4K to generate the hype on it's own right now.Looks like they listened to the feedback. They do have 1st party games ready for One X though, unless you don't count game released with upcoming One X patch.

It seems clearly that "launch games" here means new titles.
People shoud really stop taking Phil's tweets at face value now.

Critical enough to delay the launch? Probably not. I hope they really put in some serious effort patching old games instead now. Here's the context of that article: https://twitter.com/XboxP3/status/844691056830509056

It's just PR.
This year Sony did great exclusive wide mainly because of Japanese devs that abandoned the Xbox. Microsoft is still paying the price of being shunned by Japan now that they recovered after some years of struggling to adapt to HD consoles.
Edit: altought it's obvious Sony is better at managing their studios than Microsoft. But Microsoft does manage to have made tons of improvements to their indie program vs Sony and also a better ecosystem with stuff like Early Acess and EA Acess.
NoAre people going to finally stop defending Spencer and realize he's been as bad as Don was. It's been like watching someone try to hit a giant nail with a hammer but consistently hitting their hand instead.

He said it was critical, they failed to deliver in a somethat impressive way even, now they'll have to change their tune again. It's just PR. People shoud stop expecting a more "human" or "natural" behaviour from Phil Spencer. He's just a brand manager like everyone else.
Phil Spencer said:When I watch the other platforms, it's not always clear to me when the games are shipping or how many of them are shipping this year.
And then when I think about next year for us, I think about Sea of Thieves; I think about Scalebound; I think about Halo Wars 2; we've got Crackdown coming; we've got State of Decay 2 which we showed on stage. I'm really proud of the line-up that the studios have and we continue to deliver year-in and year-out. It's an art form,
<...>
And to say that the other consoles are doing a better job shipping more games for their customer... I don't see that.
Platform holder X delays game, GAF says: "Good, better a delayed game than a bad one"
Platform holder Y delays game, GAF grabs pitchforks and torches.
Double standards son.
I don't know about the narrative the ID@Xbox is better than Sony's indies. Over the whole gen, I've been pretty consistently baffled at how many smaller digital games are absent on Xbox. Just in the past couple of weeks, PS4 got Hellblade and Undertale, for example. Can't wait for Cuphead and Ori though.
A delayed game is eventually good, a rushed game is bad forever. Or something.

That is exactly what is happening, and you are very insightful for pointing it out to us all who didn't understand. Because it's not like there's a huge difference between the number and volume of releases on platforms, and that delaying one game out of twenty is a different matter compared to delaying one game out of two.
It's as if half the posters on GaF weren't actually on the internet during the 360 era. Gaf doesn't have a hive mind, and it doesn't favour one console over another. Gaf favour *games*. One console doesn't have them.
How much money have they poured into this game? It was supposed to be ready a year ago wasn't it? I'm sure this would be cancelled too if it wasn't a first party game. I was psyched for Crackdown 3, Scalebound, and Halo Wars 2 this year. One is cancelled, another delayed, and the only one released had a single player that wasn't as good as its predecessor's. This was supposed to be a great year and instead it's forgettable. Forza is a fantastic series, Cuphead and other indies look great, but what's the point? With no announcements that anything big is coming, why invest in an Xbox One if you don't already have one? Hell, a patch for MCC and a DLC add-on for a Halo 3 anniversary would have been better than this. Hopefully they've got something better planned for next year, but I'm not keeping my hopes up.

I agree to extent but when you have moderators gloating about sales numbers on twitter and mocking another platform in the process, it kind of makes you question the mentality of some people and if they have a agenda.
The tweet was deleted not long after, I wonder why
