Ghost Recon: Wildlands looks unbelievable, what the hell?

I had absolutely no clue the game looked this good.

I've heard nothing about it, so I chalked it up to "whatever" status and that was that. Came across this video and several others and my goodness the visuals are absurd. Is there some catch as to why this game is never brought up in discussion around here? I've recently beaten Horizon: Zero Dawn, I'm currently playing Breath of the Wild, and yet these videos of a game I've never played are blowing me away from a technical perspective.

The atmosphere is absurd. Nighttime is ACTUALLY NIGHT. Unbelievable. As a sucker for atmosphere, I think I'd want to just do scenic hikes throughout the world.

It doesn't hold up to well to scrutiny visually, But from a distance/timelapse sense, it is a very realistic looking world. Sadly fuck all to do in it. Lol.

Yup, it is quite stunning when it comes to lighting and environment design.

Sadly, the character models and animations look pretty terrible. Also kinda hard to get immersed when the game design is so predictable and robotic.

It is absolutley stunning seeing it live.

Sometimes when I was driving around I had to stop a few times and take it all in. Every district they built had its own unique feel to it, it's awesome.

I get lost at times just staring at the landscape or flying around in the helicopter. I love going up as high as I can and freefall as I move the camera around and check the scenery out. The game is gorgeous. But..that's it.

I'm about halfway through the game and I have already given up. If it hasn't been fun already, it won't be fun anymore.

I just upgraded the vehicle reticle so I could grab a chopper and go parachuting all my way to the mission

It looks amazing if you can play it on PC. I've put a lot of time into the last few months. Playing on the Hardest difficulty with no HUD is a lot of fun.

Yeah it's a really great looking game, it kinda falls flat when you get into the small details but that's a lot of games so I can't really knock it. The weather is really something, when it overcasts and starts to rain it's just a visual treat all the way through.

That storm around the 1:45 mark looked so damn good holy crap.

do you guys actually play ubisoft games anymore or do you just copy and paste this reply every time? Enemies in GR:W die in literally 2 shots.

Yeah the beta was rough as and janky too. I bet devs love it when people post gifs and compressed vids showcasing graphical quality but ultimately hiding all the flaws *cough Driveclub

It still makes me stop and look from time to time.. And I'm like 300 hours in.

Can't wait to see how it gets improved on Xbox One X too.. Wish I had a good PC to run it on now, but even on regular Xbox it looks good in my opinion. There is pop in, but overall and in motion its fantastic.

Some games don't do well on GAF. Wildlands is one of them.

I hated the game in beta but after playing through the game at release, I would say it's the greatest cooperative game ever created.

I can totally see how it would be fun in coop, but it's a slog in single player.

Well yeah, too bad the game also gets inflicted badly with "you've done this type of mission? Well, do it again a million times in other map areas" Ubisoft-itis.

The world looks absolutely gorgeous though.

One of the most impressive looking games this gen. Also the most organic (if that's the right word) looking open world out there. The world feels and looks like a real place and not a sandbox built for the players to mess around in.

Definitely. There are small villages I'm still running across that I've never been to. They are off the beaten path and have no story missions associated with them.. But they're there. With locals going about their thing. It's really cool.

I feel like with a few tweaks the sequel could be absolutely outstanding.

It's a great game OP. The vistas are incredible indeed.

Oh I think so too.. And the 60FPS was great. However Wildlands is huuuuuuuge. And let's you fly around. And has low flat deserts and super high mountains. And on a clear day you can see one from another way off in the distance. It's a really good representation of "if you can see it, you can probably get there".

Stop it please. I've been able to stay away from this game until now, even though I enjoyed the beta, because I had way too many other games.
I'm THIS close to buying the game with another friend so we can go around together in multiplayer. I assume that's probably the best way to play this, anyway.

If you have a friend willing.. Stop everything and get this now. I loved it solo, but coop makes it even better. So. Many. Good. Times. Everything always goes wrong, in the worst ways.. But it's sooooooo fun. Stories for days!

The open world is pretty stunning, and on PC ultra settings, it can make PCs beg for mercy, lol. It's extremely demanding on those settings.

enemies drop in a couple shots, like they should. The enemy AI being so dumb and all knowing is what the game has issues with, not bulletsponge.

Solo is kind of weak except in the dlc I've heard , haven't started dlc yet. But in vanilla your teammates are gods in solo . You can just sync shot everyone
Coop is fun.
Edit - also looks great on PC for sure.

It doesnt look great when you arent zoomed out doing a high speed timelapse. The materials are rather poor and once anything moves it goes to shit. Wait till you see the foliage. Its actually lol worthy

There is no friendly AI in Narco Road, and Fallen Ghosts is generally harder than the main game so the AI is more helpful.

I agree they're super powerful, but to me its the only way to really try and replicate playing with real people. On the harder difficulties the sync shot comes in handy a lot, and especially on the way to Tier 1.

Could they be better? Sure, but it's not game breaking. You can tell them to stay put if you want, and they more or less listen.

Game looks insane on PC and truly the way to play it is co-op. I hate the AI Ghosts. Ubi missing out by not selling 2/4-packs with a little discount.

The game is glorious to behold, but falls apart under even the slightest scrutiny. One time an enemy crashed a helicopter a mile away and I got swarmed by everybody on a party island suddenly knowing exactly where I was.

Yea the Ghosts AI is embarrassing most of the time. Much easier to only use them for sync shots which they’re incredible at and solo the rest.

Unless you’re playing Co-Op which is op tier fun.

Yes stunning game and I find it intetesting to play,picked it up day one on pc and I'm about half way now.
I run it maxed on an ultrawide display and sometimes go back to play it more just for the graphics!

If it looks nice on Pro I might double dip so I could play it with a buddy.

I think it looks terrible on PS4 Pro, really rough, that's the only reason I didn't buy it after the trial, because I loved the gameplay.
