loved him in the KING OF COMEDY

I never knew hos work but I'll always remember him through that Back to the Future joke where 1955 Doc says he must be the VP of Ronald Reagan, the actor, was President.

I didn't know he was still alive tbh, haven't heard about him in a looooooong time.
I used to love his movies as a little kid, I don't think I've seen anything with him in the past 20 years but he was always a legend in my eyes.
Time to rewatch his classics and maybe show my daughter like my parents did with me.

RIP

Oy with the dying, and the sadness and the running noses already.

Rip a comedy legend.

At least we still Paul Rugg to impersonate him.

Great humanitarian. RIP.

I remember he was big in France, right?
In the 70s, yes.
Since the mid 80s he is actually known for his work on the Telethon.

The joke about France being crazy about Lewis' movies has been making 0 sense for any French person born in the late 70s and after.

RIP, and thoughts to his family and friends.

RIP. He could be a bit difficult, as most geniuses are, but overall he added much more to the world than he took. That's the most you can hope to do.

I have the best memories when as a kid -in company of my brother & mum- used to watch his movies during several years. So many good moments, laughs and overall nice feelings.

Thanks a lot for that, Jerry.

RIP

I helped Jerry Lewis on his boat a few years back. Really nice dude told me lots of stories. He did look pretty dang old then. RIP JL.

RIP.
Not super familiar with his work but I loved him in King of Comedy.

Yeah, definitely. I think I first learned about him when I was repeatedly asked abroad why he was so popular in France and I was like, who? Not sure how that started.

Labor Day was never the same without his telethon.

RIP to a legend.

My best friend loves Jerry Lewis and has done a lot of charity work for MDA and has even met him a few times. He's going to be crushed. =(

I only knew about due to sitcoms (The Simpsons?), which was probably dated at the time if you consider the writers of the show.

Jerry Lewis being popular in France was a running joke in many sitcoms.

RIP to one of the best

So how long before the film The Day the Clown Cried will be released now that Jerry is gone?

What exactly is the deal with this movie?
I know it's a whimsical comedy set during the Holocaust, but there have been other movies that have done the same thing like Jakob the liar and Life is beautiful. What made this one so embarrassing?

from what i've read it was really, really poor execution.

The one where he destroys the reporter? Hilarious imo.
I think he didn't like the interview, haha.

R.i.p. Never thought that kind of comedy was very funny but he made quite a career. But my grandma laughed her ass off when he was on tv.
