People are stupid.

Doesnt matter what rank it is.

In the S rank.. playing some tower control, we are riding the tower to the check point and my team thinks it would be a great idea to get off, WHEN WE GET TO THE CHECK POINT to insure we don't clear it, and instead die in fights.

Great strategy.

It used to be my favorite mode. But now I find it toxic, it's the only mode that can make me a little mad cause most of the time I'll get paired with sub level 8 users against a full team of level 30+.

I mean I don't mind losing, I got beaten a lot in ranked but a least in ranked if you're getting slaughter the battle only last a few moments, it's not 3 minutes of frustration.

Lmao I just played one of those low tide cannon waves on Salmon Run and my 3 teammates got into cannons, the only one picking up eggs was me, by the time these dumb fuckers realized this we were out of time😂

Played a round of Turf War with 2 chargers on my team... Who proceeded to get 1 kill between them! If you must use a charger in Turf, you better be killing stuff!

Played another round and came up against a really good player, they were everywhere! Splatter me 4 times I think! I got schooled!

Had that happen earlier. It can be frustrating for sure. But the best way to learn the weapon is in turf war. It sucks, but it is what it is.

I was once on a losing team with 3 chargers. Soon as i seen em spawn in i thought, "Well, time to just get as many point as i can. This game is a wash."

Not slamming all charger players by the way. There are just way too many poor ones compared to good ones. And a good one is in my opinion the most annoying player to go up against lol.

I agree. I also find the "level doesn't mean skill!" crowd very irritating. It's exactly the same as Overwatch. Level does not equal skill in terms of aim, no. However it does equal vast amounts more time spent playing the game. It equals map knowledge, knowledge of how the guns work, of experience of the different tactics for each map.

Just like it would be very unfair to pit a team of level 1-10s in Overwatch against a team of level 100+ players. It's not that the level 100s have better aim, it's that they have got VAST amounts more experience of the maps, weapons and tactics.

Splatoon 2's matchmaking in Turf War is fricking awful and people shouldn't be defending it. A group of level 20+s should not be playing a group of level 1-10s. It's that simple. Not because the 20s have better aim, but because there's a bloody good chance that the extra 100 hours + of time spent playing the game probably gives them an advantage in tactics and map knowledge.

I wish people would stop using the "level doesn't mean skill" argument when talking about games like this. It can have a huge effect. Aim isn't everything. Try putting a team of people who have put 3000 hours+ combined into Counter Strike against a team of people who barely have 100 hours between them. The more experienced team will likely win a lot more than they lose because they know the maps, the strategies and the weapons.

Single player update: Got all of the Sardinium (and all of the upgrades) and the Hero Octobrush. Also cleared all of World 1 and 2 with all of the weapons because why not.

I appreciate that they change up some of the levels to suit shorter range weapons, but it's tough as hell sometimes to hit stuff you need to hit with stuff like the Octobrush. Some levels need more than just "Charger/Splatling and Everything else" versions. At least the Octobrush lets you go fast as fuck though. I can't imagine playing through some of these later levels and bosses with the Roller. I can't stand how clumsy that thing feels sometimes.

I agree. A good charger player can make life very difficult for the opposing team, picking them off like a sniper and cutting off access to parts of the map. There are some good ones out there.

Oh, level definitely does have an advantage. Or shall I put it, low level definitely gives a disadvantage. A team of 3x 20 level + 1x sub-5 level vs a team of 4x 20 level is pretty much a team of 3 players vs a team of 4 players. I just had one such battle -- we lost decisively. The only worse thing is when you have a game with 2 active players and 2 disconnects - that's an automatic pownage to your team -- the opponents beat you just by body mass.

I hear the 18K bring bad luck ;p

I Tri-Slosher'd my way into S-rank to get out of B-hell and I have no shame about it.

IM always on the worst team in ranked. Its ridiculous. Just had a match where I had 10 kills in about 2 mins. And 2 people one my team literally had 0. How!?!

my time with the clash blaster in ranked so far

liking it for rainmaker and tower control

maybe not so much for splat zones

Having used it yesterday, Clash is definitely in a weird spot when it comes to splat zones. On one hand, having a defined and confined area to fight over helps it to excel and it can keep people away decently well, but the poor turfing ability means you really need to rely on your teammates keeping the ground clean or enemies stupidly dying in the middle of the zone in order for you to strictly maintain control. One of my rounds yesterday I got a triple kill that effectively wiped the team, but since none of my teammates were around at the time doing who-knows-what, I only just barely got the zone claimed in our name before all the enemies were right back. I'd only really recommend it for maps with particularly small zones, since for as well as I did with it on Musselforge yesterday, it's a major struggle to do much unless your team cleans up and takes control early.

...Come to think of it, that makes me wonder if opening gambit might be somewhat useful. The mobility boost to get to mid quickly and take an early lead is kind of crucial for that weapon in particular.

Do I need a twitter account to post switch pictures? I just got a triple splat with a single squiffer charge.

Twitter or Facebook. Just make a burner Twitter account used solely for photos if you don't want to spam up your real one.

Also that's awesome!

I'm fucking livid right now.

Some shithead on my team decided it would be a good idea to spray one corner of the map right next to the spawn and sit there for the entire match spraying at the walls and into the air. Ended the game with 40p, which is the absolute lowest I've ever ever seen from someone that didn't just disconnect.

I can't understand why anyone would do this. If you don't like playing the game, then just don't play. Don't ruin the game for 3 other people. If you want to level up, then at least try to win so you can level up faster. I don't know if this guy was trolling or putting in the minimum amount of effort to AFK so they didn't get booted. Regardless, they might as well have just quit the game right then and there for all the good they did. At least with some disconnects I can imagine someone having it happen or accident, but this guy was purposefully ruining a game.

Is there any way to report people for bad behavior in-game? I blocked him so hopefully I won't ever play against him, but I don't know how much good that does.

The only way right now is SplatNet in the Switch mobile app. Go to your battle history, tap their name, then tap the tiny report link at the bottom. Don't know how much good it does, though.

What was the player's level? If it was on the lower side, I wouldn't be surprised if it was a little kid just fucking around and not realizing what he/she got into lol But if it was a higher I'd say yeah, probably just griefing then.

Nice shot, yo!

Its when things that are cool like this happen i wish that Nintendo gave us the video capture ability already that they said they would implement at some point.
....they said that? o.o

I don't remember this at all. It would be such a great addition though.

Thanks. At least that makes me feel better. Little bastard probably thought he could AFK for some free XP. Too bad I doubt Nintendo will do anything. It's not like they're Blizzard or Valve.

I actually did really well that match too. 11-5 with more turf inked than anyone else in the match. Didn't matter when it was 4-3 though.

Level 7, which is high enough for me to assume they should know what they're doing. I can understand someone at level 1-2, but not 7.

It'll most likely show up with the paid online roll out or go the way of TVii, me thinks. I do wish I had a video clip, it's one of those things that makes me want to stream.

Okay yeah, was most likely a troll then.

I had someone just sit on the spawnpoint the entire time, after the match I just blocked the user.

Thats actually a good guess when we could see this implemented. I wouldnt be surprised about that now that you mention it.

I'm really loving the sting ray in ranked too. I haven't seen much talk about that special (or much praise to be specific) but I was getting a lot of splats and assists with it in all 3 modes. you can pump it on and off to stay locked onto your target or to better aim at a grouping of people or just straight up pressure the zone/tower/fish directly. helps if you're in control or not. if you are then you keep the other team at bay especially with the tower and fish and if you're not in control than you put direct pressure on the other team riding the tower or holding the fish either getting the splat and turning the tide or at least making them stall.

maybe sting ray just needs to be in some more kits going forward to start getting more use. right now it's on some weapons that aren't seeing much play. the firefin splat charger and scope are getting picked over the vanilla set, I don't see too many heavy splatlings, and of course rip the dynamo.

that special just surprised me and if I can do some shit with it then surely better players could take advantage of it as well

Ah, bummer, salmon run is over. I thought I had two more hours for some reason. I wanted to hit 400% pay, but got stuck at 380%.

I find the pro-SBMM crowd more annoying TBH.

I'll take ping-based matchmaking over any SBMM crap. I'm not the best player in the game, but I appreciate low latency. I'm glad I don't have to fight against Japanese players (like in Splatoon 1), regardless of their skill/level.
