Although I enjoyed the episode overall despite a lot of ridiculousness and plot armor (seriously, Jon must have some insane bonus buffs from wearing the full set) there was one area that could have saved it...

WHY DIDN'T RHAEGAL DIVE DOWN AND SAVE HIM!?

I get that the NK's throwing arm was warmed up by then, but it would have been a super cool moment and far less lame than Benjen showing up at that exact moment for a rather shitty final scene.

Was last night's episode the worse GoT episode ever? But it's quite clear now this show needed another two seasons. This whole season should have been two seasons. Clearly lot of story still left but not enough episode to cram it all in.

I think it was the biggest and most clear indication of just how much D&D relied on GRMM's groundwork as far as scripting and plotting goes. This has been "their" story, with Martin presumably only providing minimal guidance or outlining and it shows. A LOT

Yeah, the whole plan to go North was just stupid from the get go.

If Dany wanted to see it, and she could go so fast as she showed in this ep.. then she could have done that with no needless wait.

Also, Jon not getting on the dragon but continuing to fight... the dude deserves to be dead with how stupid he is over and over and over again.

If he didn't continue to fight they would have swarmed Drogon killing everybody.

I doubt it, considering Drogon singlehandedly cleared the horde surrounding the rock.

I mean I know that's what D&D wants us to think but it's completely unnecessary and just contrived drama.

I just finished the episode and I am so angry that everything that happened was because of the DUMB plot point of trying to bring Cersei a wight.

Man, the nitpicking is getting over bearing, there's some legitimate concerns, but some of this stuff is just way too much.

I mean I loved the spectacle and I am not going to lie or pretend that I wasn't tense and super into it BUT part of what makes the show great is how we get to all the events.

With some of the suggestions I and other made, they could have reached the same end but with much better sensible choices.

I think either some people have really low expectations for current GoT or their bar for quality writing is "better than a CW show."

GoT season 7 has been total crap compared to other seasons this year like Better Call Saul S3, The Leftovers S3, The Handmaid's Tale S1 and even Legion, Fargo, Master of None...

Hell, I enjoyed the drama of Baskets season 2 more.

All merits of this season of GoT are heavily propped up by the better writing that came before it.

Hey ! That's really mean.

There are some actual good shows on the CW these days.

That doesnt make sense. Bear should have gone down on first strike of Dg/Vs.

They never got a clean hit on the bear, only Thoros and Beric did and fire doesn't kill them immediately like glass/steel.

It's refreshing to see almost no one here or anyone else online is even attempting to defend that god awful episode. What an embarrassment to this fantastic series that was. Wow.

I really don't understand why they don't even make any attempt whatsoever to take in account travel time. There is literally zero effort put into it. It is so baffling.

It's even worse when your realize that Cersei is so unhinged and a shell of her former self, that it might all be for nought.

It's also really fucked up that it was Tyrion's plan and he tried to talk Dany out of saving them. I know it's crucial she stays alive, but what did you think would happen if it came to those circumstances? She's already pretty close to straight up disregarding half of your input anyway.

This episode had some nice moments, but a coworker from work who watched it when it leaked and hyped it all week told me it was above Loot Train. Naw son. The show has dropped off pretty hard this season, the fan service is a bit too apparent for my taste.

Just say fuck it and get Michael Bay in to handle the rest. Why pretend.

Reading some of the intellectual analysis of story this season is on par with reading the_donald as they try to rationalise the next grossly incompetent thing Trump does.

It worked for a few seasons whilst they were straight up lifting from GRRMs work. Now they don't have the shoulders of giants to stand on. And it shows, oh how does it show.

It's almost borderline fourth wall meta.

Yeah I dunno how this is gonna convince Cersei.

Jon: The White Walkers are coming and they're pretty strong

Cersei: I don't fucking care I'm queen. Why you bring Targaryan dragon girl here after burning the fuck out of my army?

Jon: Because the White Walkers.

Tyrion: Yeah sis they're mad stronk

Cersei: Execute them.

Literally all her enemies are here and she got the home field advantage. Weapons to kill dragons and Cersei got a dragon-sized ego. This plan is terrible lol

Come on..really?

Seriously tho when Jon said "my Queen" I almost passed out from the beauty of that moment.

One of the better parts of the episode.

I think this season pretty much explains why Martin isn't finishing the books.

He has written himself into a corner and will need more that 2 books to tell the remaining story.

D&D just want this to be over soon so they can move on to other things since they haven't done anything but work on GOT since 2010. They have run out of time and budget and will take any shortcut necessary for this to be over by early 2019.

It seems like D&D want to rush the thing to end. If HBO had their way GoT would run for 20 seasons but these two seem like they're tired of GRRM's world and want to move on to different things (Confederate) or maybe find stuff to do in Hollywood.
Also dont understand how GRRM was ok with this episode.

If he finished the books you wouldn't be asking that question.

Lol, that's dragonshit and you know it.

yep. drogon can kill everyone around him with one tail swipe.

the fact that they didnt even try to go for the night king is frustrating. despite discussing it beforehand. you could end the fight right then and there. just have dany turn a dragon around or order one to fry the night king. they dont know if he's impervious to fire. at least try it. hell, it wouldve made for a great scene when they think they won the war and then night king comes out of the fire and impales the dragon anyway.

would've made more sense for the night king to kill a dragon attacking him than just randomly picking a flying dragon instead of one sitting right in front of him.

poor writing, poor setup, it's like they didnt think anything through. they had a year to write just 7 episodes and they come up with this. breaking bad and mad men's last seasons were so well written because of the shortened seasons, i assumed we would see similar writing quality here. but i guess now that they dont have any George R.R Martin writing to go buy, they have to actually write stuff themselves and they just dont have good writers on this show.

D&D being tired of this is not a good excuse for such a lackluster production. If they were not up for it they should have never agreed to make the show in the first place. Of course this is all speculation that they are sick of it to begin with.

How do I explain fan theorists?

Let's compare them to actual nazis.

You fucking tit.

This. Those "predictions" are people who have read the leaked material and want to try to be edgy with their "predictions" by essentially spoiling.

Avoid "predictions" if you can.

I'm done with "fan-theory" YouTube videos. I'll try to go in totally blind next season.
