ARMS - Introducing Lola Pop - Nintendo Switch

Her theme song is Layton AF. Not sure what the stage gimmick is, tho.

Looks like the nunchuks can deflect incoming attacks?

The stamp arms have the Blind effect. Nice!

Also like the new take on the Guardians.

Lola Pop herself looks adorable. Is her inflation just another form of super-armor?

Not sure how I feel about her movement. Camera was too zoomed in during the trailer.

It's like Luffy and Buggy had a daughter...

But that theme song!

I love the fact she isn't a cookie cutter version of another character. Completely new character, arms and stages. Love it and love this game. I wish more people would buy it.

I was hoping for a character that had candy for it's main theme, but I wasn't expecting a clown. A female clown that's super adorable, at that.

Obviously, people are going to come in and say "WAAAH! CLOWNS ARE SCARY!", and in all honesty, clowns are not scary. They're ridiculous. It's a lot like trying to create a scary bunny.

An adorable clown whose theme is candy is fine by me.

Nintendo should've made a deal to have pennywise so could beat him up for scaring me as a kid.

Also I like the music and she looks great.

Wait, does Lola Pop actually have an English voice actress? Color me impressed. Then again, it could be just another English-speaking resident of Japan like Spring Man & Max Brass' VAs.

I like how many female characters Nintendo is putting in this game. Not counting Helix and Byte and Barq, we have an equal amount of male and female characters.

I was actually wondering what her nationality is supposed to be, if any. Going by the themes and song, she's definitely European but I don't know... Italian I guess? Maybe another French character like Twintelle - after all, Twintelle's VA is clearly not French going by her accent? Can't really see any other possible nationality. Or maybe she's all made up and mostly Italian and French-inspired.

Seriously, though. Cute character.

I got the sense she was Italian too.

The site mentions her inflation is for "added defense." I wonder what that means? Maybe is disables whatever arm hits her for longer so she can counter.

Either Spaniard or southern Italian from the music and city layout.

The clown and pastry themes don't strike me as distinctly Spanish though. They conjure up Italy more than Spain to me. Or, failing that, France (because of bread, pastries and mimes).

Either super-armor or a literal reduction in damage taken, I'd imagine.

September, eh? Lola Pop will be a nice excuse to revisit ARMS after Mario + Rabbids. Hopefully it launches before the one-two punch of Metroid: Samus Returns and Pokken Tournament DX, though.

She says oh la la and aïe (french for ouch) when she gets hit. That stage also clearly looks like a stereotypical french town as seen by japanese people and France has a well known reputation when it comes to desserts and sweets with patisserie. She's definitely french inspired.
